For baby boomers (who probably hold most world capital atm) Bitcoin is too new, they simply can't grasp something that entirely lives on Internet. Digital dollar is different though, cos for them, the USD have been the strongest currency through entire life. They also access their bank accounts via banking apps, so they should be more keen to get USDT, than BTC.
If you think this is wrong assumption, try to convince my father to hold Bitcoin...

It’s much easier to buy Bitcoin with USDT than with USD. You can simply swap within the same wallet without having to go through another KYC process (see Aqua Wallet, for example).
Most people around the world will probably adopt USDT more quickly than BTC to escape their falling local currency. But once they get used to the idea of a digital dollar, the next logical step is swapping at least part of it into another form of digital money—this time, Bitcoin.
It’s a bit of a roundabout path, but it still leads to the same goal: mass adoption of Bitcoin as the final destination.

Most of my friends and family don't use a password manager or they use "trust me bro" password manager without even knowing about it. So it doesn't look to me like a much better solution than external signer (still better though).
At this point I'm not sure if there is actually "good enough" solution for this... :(

thank you, but I have a concern with this solution.
one string like nsec is prone to be pasted accidently into a text field of another app that immediately sends it to a server before hitting a "submit" button. At that point you loose your nostr identity... huge security risk imho.
And if we aim to onboard another billion users to nostr, we can't expect people would be careful enough and take appropriate measures.
I agree external signer creates additional layer of complexity. So, I wonder if a "middle ground" solution could be applied.
One thing that comes into my mind would be at least splitting nsec into two parts on UI level (aka login and password). So if you paste this accidentally into wrong text field, you don't loose your identity.
Don't you think single nsec string imposes such security risk?

Also, I don't think making power users angry helps. They are niche, but their word matters. It's good to have them on your side to help with adoption.
Anyway, once obstacles are removed, we need lead magnets. Nostr itself is one that will trump when the hard time comes, but something else in the meantime would be nice to have too.

Instead creating Glucose Ketone Index (GKI), perhaps Ketone Glucose Index (KGI) would be more intuitive to read. What I mean by that is to avoid imho counter intuitive measueres like this: "Lower GKI values indicate deeper ketosis". It's like saying "the lower the number on speedometer, the faster you go". Hope you know what I mean.
So, if KGI=1/GKI then "Higher KGI values indicate deeper ketosis."
Anyway, just out of curiosity, where the number 18 come from?

The thing is that both sides of this conflict don't want any spam (this doesn't seem to be so obvious for one side).
Because Bitcoin is open, decentralized network that (for this purpose) uses address that in nature have characteristic of random generated numbers, it's impossible to detect spam hidden in this randomness. I mean spam is represented by numbers that are not random, but can't be distinguished from from valid transaction numbers that are seen as random (unless we know the algorithm the spam was encoded with). That algorithm can be changed by malicious actors at any time with the speed of light.
That's why this is cat and mouse game.
And I believe the core developrs came to conclusion that it's pointless to spend time and energy chasing those cat's and mice. Instead it's better to work on scaling solutions, so everytime some wants to paralyze the network, it will only pay high fees for it, and will not affect regular monetary transactions. Eventually they will see it's pointless to try block Bitcoin network.
At least that's my take, I would be grateful for pointing any holes in this logic.

Instead building more fences with holes it's better to use this time and energy to build solutions that will make malicious actors powerless everytime they want paralyze Bitcoin network.
