The major confusion in the meaning of the DotP that gets many people is the distinction between dictatorship as a political system and the Marxist concept of class dictatorship.
As an example, take the US (and to a lesser extent, the west in general):
We live in a society with a somewhat democratic form of governance, yet the bourgeoisie holds ultimate power. The existence of a democratic political system doesn't change the fact that the bourgeoisie have the disproportionate power that they do in writing our laws and selecting our lawmakers.
There is no conflict between the de facto class dictatorship of the bourgeoisie and the fact that we vote in our representatives.

I dislike it when people blame the outrage surrounding Gaza on billionaires, when in reality the billionaires are resisting any pressure to change their stance on Gaza.
Yes, there will always be bad actors trying to exploit it for their own ends. But the Palestinian cause is itself one of the biggest organic movements since the anti-Vietnam war protests in the 60s. Don't underestimate it.

Conservatives will literally wage war with the climate scientists because they think that a YouTube video is enough to demolish the arguments of years of climate scientists building models and adjusting them in line with empirical evidence.
Hell, many of the models developed by the US government by climate scientists are publicly available, and they publish documentation explaining the mathematical and scientific underpinnings of the predictions these models make.

the idea is that if an enterprise often lies and makes it harder for other enterprises to do their job, there could be a community measure to get it closed down or implement disciplinary measures.
It would also fix the problem of limited information, as there would be a worker in every enterprise who runs the computer system and calculates the specific targets needed to do a given task with the aid of the other workers. Workers would also be given the autonomy to manage themselves, just as long as there are no shortages detected and they are meeting the standards voted on by the community.

One of the biggest problems with the Soviet system (other than their profound lack of democratic input in the allocation process) was the fact that they simply couldn't keep up. The planners in Gosplan balanced inputs and outputs like it was a chemical equation, and did so in a highly aggregated manner that left out important details. In addition, they often only did this process for the first thousand products or so because it was just too much for people to do by hand.
Big Data, computers and the Internet completely change the game.
