I had a time I felt uncomfortable.
I had that idea that I started buying Bitcoin 'so late'....
Only later I realized I used most time the right way.
To understand Bitcoin, how it worked, so I could use it properly.
Since if I bought it some years earlier I would probably burned myself badly.
I would have lost access, or made other mistakes for sure !
Of most possible ways I could have entered Bitcoin I did it by 'miracle' pretty well...
We all have to learn hard lessons to be able to understand and use Bitcoin properly (there is even some more 😇)
If we got through that without severe scars we should consider ourselves lucky !

Those 1.1 million Bitcoin in my mind are more like gold coins buried by their owners who forgot about them or died.
Those UTXO's are patiently waiting for computers to become fast enough so that guessing their private keys becomes economically feasible. That will also be a gradual thing not a binary switch that when reached will unlock all those UTXO's simultaneously.
All other UTXO's (of which people own the private keys of) will get upgraded in time to keep being resistant to that increased computer efficiency.
Most "lost" Bitcoin will be retrieved in time, just don't ask me what time frame we have to take into account.
The system is just more perfect than most understand.

It's my personal opinion.
Based on the "progress" I see.
In the first few halvings I was fine with a team , called Bitcoin core, to maintain the code.
Now the scope and value has increased so much I don't think it is wise to let a few developers hold the sole responsibility for what #Bitcoin will be.
I see it as one of the few if not last chance to get some of our freedom back.
Those taking that freedom right now have so much power that no person has a real chance to ignore them or isolate themselfs from them.
The reason ti choose for a Protocol and not humans to take care of the basic monetary functions is rather clear.
The only open end is those with access to the actual protocol.
Time to freeze the basic implementation.
New developments or additions should be handled like lightning: on different layers.

The biggest hurdle #Bitcoin faces is a lack of critical thinking that seems to be missing in many.
It is like FREEDOM......
Freedom needs maintenance, needs to be fought for to be there.
If it is not maintained it slowly erodes away.
First no one notices and it is hard to see.
Things like fake safety are used to convince people to give up some freedom, same goes for convenience.
At some pointed the lack of freedom is that striking it hits you in the face.
At that same moment you find out that regaining it is VERY HARD.
The same goes for what I call "autonomous critical thinking".
In simple words able to think for your own and being able to decide what is good and what is wrong.
Next step is speaking out those values, followed by creating a small community of like minded, etc.
It sounds simple but IT IS NOT.
That "small community" must be self-sufficient simply because if not it will be very easy for others to abuse that dependency to reduce any freedoms or norms and values just gained..
We have some references to how much effort it takes when freedom was taken away by rulers or dictators etc.
Just look up the history books and if the price paid doesn't give you chivers I think you haven't digged deep enough.
Our modern society is a bit different in that respect.
Lack of freedom is more lack of privacy, our tax burden, the way we are controlled by subtle but astonishing proportions.
Fiat literally is robbing most of us from most of our productive life.
Everyone can check how big the total tax burden is, and putting a few hours into it, by writing down how insane current tax burden actually is will reveal the shocking reality.
Most know this is the case but rather don't want to know it.
Also the Stockholm syndrome seems the work pretty good, and many will start defending that tax burden by what Government realizes with that money.
Right untill you start discussing the efficiency of government, or the wars being fought, the money used to restrict our own freedom, or the money used to actually hurt the population.
By miracle we now have a sound money available that can break us free from fiat. That fiat system is the single biggest method used to enslave mankind and its antidote is #Bitcoin.
But without a required portion of critical thinking, most can only see the small inconveniences Bitcoin gives compared to that fiat system.
The part of the population depending on fiat will only see the burden Bitcoin will bring for them.
They will fight to maintain their situation, fight to defend fiat.
There are great resemblances between a disarmed population trying to fight an armed ruler.
It needs sacrifices to break free.
For most being responsible for their actions, being self supporting, the realization you alone are responsible for your own happiness and indeed freedom, with all responsibilities that come with it, is probably more daunting than picking up arms and fighting some direct enemy.
Nevertheless is #Bitcoin a one off chance to regain some freedom.
A chance to do so without the direct need for violence.
Once you realize all this #Bitcoin becomes one of the few things worth actually fighting for.

I sat down for some hours.
And just started writing down new taxes I could think of.
At that moment it became crystal clear to me, there won't be an end to it other than a violent one.
If a 1% tax is ok, a 2% tax is ok, a 3% tax will be ok............
If 1% inflation is acceptable 2% inflation is acceptable, etc.
There won't be an end, but a violent one.

I have not found any source to provide long term data about exchange reserve numbers that was not obviously manipulated....
Long term graph show ever declining numbers but if you zoom in the absolute numbers shown the current numbers has stayed rather constant.

I see very few people wanting to talk about it.
But if this, $ 120k, was the new #Bitcoin 4 year cycle high, it was a lousy run.
Just ~double of the last ath of $ 60k in 2021...
Perhaps not bad compared to most out there, but still on the lowest side of the bandwidth I had in mind...
Nevertheless I don't think any of my or any other model will hold when the fiat system wil start to implode.
Just the basic numbers:
Derivatives market is now $600 Trillion.
This is ten times up from the number it was in 2008 financial crisis then it was $ 60 Trillion.
So not only was nothing learned or fixed, things got TEN times worse....
The system can't afford a new bail-out so they made legislation about an bail-in.
All deposits, all savings and probably all pension savings will be used to 'save' a system that is mathematical not save-able.
I won't start about unfunded liabilities.
If things can't continue they will stop.
It is gonne be a mess.
Not wanting to see this is understandable but not smart.

My old company had/has a big cash position.
When I tried to inform the treasury department about Bitcoin is was below 1k.
But I didn't had an university degree in finance so yea no one dared to listen.
If they allocated 10% of their cash as "gamble" already years ago every employee could have been send into retirement on the gains made.
The company is still doing fine, but without me I did retire early 🤷‍♂️

Bitcoin has way more utility than Gold.
For that reason it will surpass Golds market capitalization.
Gold is superior to fiat as value transportation over time.
In that sense it will always outdo fiat.
Bitcoin is superior to fiat as value over time and due to less inflation compared to Gold, will outdo Gold.
Bitcoin can just as fiat transport value over space and for that reason will also outdo Gold.
Besides those, due to the decentralized properties of Bitcoin it is outdoing both Gold and Fiat.
Holding Gold is better than holding fiat.
But Bitcoin will dwarf both.
By looking at some biased time frame you will be fooled in the long term.

Privacy is an interesting topic.
#Bitcoin doesn't provide perfect Privacy.
But I came to the conclusion I don't always want Money to be prefect private.
If I send money online to someone I want to know who I send it to and proof I send and the amount.
Especially with Bitcoin being a final settlement.
Next I think Bitcoin can provide decent Privacy.
And as far as I'm aware a lot of times Bitcoin does and if not I switch to LN to provide all privacy I need.

Bitcoin the software running on your node, and the Bitcoin blockchain stored on your device, is NOT extralegal.
States already can and do make laws about what software you are allowed to run and what data you are allowed to store, in their jurisdiction. They will throw you in prison for having prohibited software/data.

You probably picked up the Op_Return discussion.
The Op_Return is an existing feature that used to be limited to 80 bytes to include a short message (80 bytes of data) to a transaction.
With the v30 release that limit is scaled to 4 Mb.
One of the things that make the discussion more complex is that there are other ways to add data.
Those other ways have plusses and minuses.
One of the arguments is that if the new 4Mb is used, the way data is include is more straight foreward (I think this is not guaranteed btw).
Another thing is what will be allowed to put in that data.
Plain text or pictures etc (and that could be porn etc)
This could have legal implications (if you run a node you store data on your node and thus possible illegal stuf).
If a picture is split in sets of 80 bytes and submitted via multiple transactions any picture (extrapolation is allowed 😇) can be stored on chain.
What is the difference between a program showing you a picture stored in one .jpg file or a program showing you a picture (or whatever) by combining many 80 bytes Op_Return data.
So if we filter we have the what should we filter discussion.
What we think or believe does not mean a judge or legislation will agree....
We should asume this kind of data is already onchain making things even more complicated.
So we have voices that say nodes should be able to select what they store (and if so we can ask: what should that be)..
It becomes a complex system if different nodes run different versions so what is stored or not could become unclear.
My estimate would be that above is less than 5% of what needs to be discussed related to the Op_Return aspects.
And that is just one change...

Bitcoin has to be resistant in some way (or fail).
It has always been strange to me a small group controls the code of the one freedom tool available to mankind.
Did anyone believed that attack vector would not be used ?
So now we will see how this get resolved.
