#WritersCoffeeClub May 1: Workers' Day: What can we do to support and protect other writers, not only now, but in the future as well?
Take the time to like, read their writing, offer encouragement. Ppl forget that writers put a lot of themselves into what they do. It's super demoralizing to spend w/e time on something they love, only to find that no one really bothers to read it.
I'd say to do this for other creatives too. Just a little bit of feedback can be the diff between someone keeping themselves motivated and giving up.

Hn, I have thoughts.
So, my whatever, hot take, is that magic is the birthright of everyone in this world. And something has stolen it from us. So I'm 100% opposed to hiding it, telling ppl they need to do things my way, setting a level of commitment for ppl to be 'allowed' to participate.
If someone is just enjoying how the witchy stuffs makes them feel and they don't rly get why? That's fine. If someone is doing magic selfishly? Okay. If ppl aren't sure what they believe but they show up, or read, or question? Okay.
Why? BC I believe that every single tiny bit of belief or acceptance adds something to the pool. Someone doing spells "just as a mind exercise" is still putting faith into that process. A teen trying to summon Slenderman is saying "I believe this is possible."

I should be running and I'll prob essay expand later, but I agree w @npub172x…jfxl here for her reasons and more.
Some of the more:
- The idea that Wicca, other non-Judeo religions should be hidden, even token effort hidden, kind of plays into the whole "these are bad" thing that TBH I think even Wiccans sort of unwittingly buy into.
- Putting Wicca, etc into the "UFOs and Cryptids & Stuff" section uses some of the more outlandish stuffs in those communities to delegitimize us all by association. If "practical witchcraft" is next to, I dunno, "That time I had an alien threesome" then witchcraft is considered "on par." ( I'm not saying UFOs or Cryptids aren't valid, but they do have some fringe ppl.)
- I dunno what others believe, but I believe that reality is a little malleable. So like... for witchcraft to have the power it once had, it... we... need to assert it as if it does. Playing into the "this silly self help fkery" doesn't do that.
...
TBF, it is difficult to figure out the right path. Most westerners do think Wicca / Euro Traditions = witchcraft, but there are SO many cultures and approaches outside of that. I really think we need to educate ourselves on those and consider them allies. And add those to the shelves too.
Oh and uhm. The whole "but Christians will be scared if we're too witchy" thing?
TOUGH. They have murdered and oppressed us for long enough. If us taking back our power scares them, they should look at WHY.

ACAB doesn't mean (for me) that literally everyone who is a cop is evil, bc tbh that's kind of ridiculous. There are cops who care abt ppl, who do their best to protect ppl and help. They were not bad personally.
But.
They work within a framework that is inherently evil. Authoritarian, adversarial, discriminatory, and designed to protect power. So for me, ACAB is the underlying stuffs. The "religion" of authoritarian abuse that it is designed to protect.
So yesh. I can like individual police. But I can also believe that the power structures they serve need to be dismantled. And I will absolutely always distrust them in their "official" role.
And if they want my honest thoughts, I mean... there are so many other ways to actually be the protectors that cop orgs pretend to be. They would be better there.

Anyway, it looks like Bing is blocking them from showing up in the search results. From what they're implying (neo), it looks like Bing is giving them one of those infuriating non-answers corpos love to hand out these days.
You know...
1) We confirm that your account is banned / you are banned
2) We will not reverse the ban.
3) We will not tell you why we did it.
4) But trust us, it was because 'policy violation.'
I've run into this sometimes too, like... I use a VPN and I've got myself banned from some shopping sites for ...you know, like... buying things and paying for them consistently.
Anyway I think I had a point, I dunno... I need more coffee. OH. Right. If you're using a Bing based search then you might be getting filtered results or something. So maybe look at other searches?

Just an FYI for those who don't know... Microsoft has been sharing your encryption keys with the FBI if they ask for them. Obvs this is a huge violation of trust, dangerous for the groups Trump's rogue state is targeting, and just terrifying all around.

If you're not white, male, conservative, christian, and a sociopath then your existence is wrong to them. The FBI, most agencies are compromised by fascists so don't expect them to be acting in any reasonable way.

Defederated arell.ai due to mass impersonation of fediverse accounts via AI. I personally confirmed that they were scraping; the following accounts were but a few that had been scraped and re-posted:

The company itself claims that they're building "high quality environments for AI" so unsurprising that they'd lie and steal.
Edit: Whether they are intending fraud is something they'd prob argue, but the fact is, it looks like they're like... backdating account creations to predate registering thier domain. So like... susss.
They appear to be using porkbun.com for a host or domain registrar so like, feel free to report them if you're feeling spiky.

I discovered an anti-corpo lifehack and tbh I think its a pretty great one!
So you know those annoying "sign up for our free trial" sites that basically "forget" to notify you that you need to cancel and try to get you for like 10,000 years of subscriptions?
I found a way to counter.
I use a lot of cash purchased "nonreloadable" credit cards bc I'm trying to counterpunch with privacy, okay? Last night I was signing up for a free trial of a thing and I didn't have a disposable card avail that would cover the "post trial" cost.
So... I used one of the many leftover cards I have with like, less than five dollars on them for a "two hundred after trial" thing.
Aaaaaaand it worked.
So basically:
- I used a throwaway email
- I used a 'paid in cash' card to secure my trial
- There's literally no way they can really charge me unless I decide I want to continue.
Obv this only works if they take gift card style credit cards (the ones I use only work for US based payment processing annoyingly) and you need to be able to like, GET one but yeah.
Fuck corpo scams!
