If you value privacy, please don't be doubtful about it. If you leave a ip-trail behind, it is a big reason for many potential users to ignore the app altogether, no matter how good it is, unfortunately. adding tor is pretty much streamlined already.

I mean, it's is the very nature of ecash. If you don't want to carry around tokens on your device, you have to stick with lightning as a L2. I'm not sure what your point is..
So either use ecash like ecash is supposed to be used and just get yourself some tokens from a mint (then you can use it when u need it, also offline)
..or use a network based payment system 🤡

Imho this scheme would only make sense if the wallet software that holds the user's tokens gets automated to do the periodic "bankrun". It would be unacceptable if the tokens have a "expiry date" because the user misses the deadline to exchange tokens to the new epoch-keyset.

I'm currently thinking about how to possibly avoid Tax-Events when making micropayments with Cashu. I think the fact everyone is being obligated to track every silly expense kills the whole momentum easily and probably on purpose...
(I can just speak if my Jurisdiction -Austria- of course)
So I was thinking... as a workaround, using € stablenut tokens would avoid the "sell"-TaxEvent on ever Microtransaction... but it *must* be easy/automatic to buy SAT denominated offers with those stablecoins. So we need a automatic conversation behind the scenes (which could be mint-based or wallet-based)
Have you thought about that stuff? Because we really need to decomplicate this Tax-demon, that scares away anybody who prefers to not get into devil's kitchen during a Tax-Audit 😫

I installed a lightning node on umbrel and tried to setup a channel. Lightning found a trillion reasons to not setup a channel and play chicken with me. This is just not a viable, good solution imho. I start to feel like eCash (CashU) without the Lightning-middleman is the way to go for broad adoption. Lightning sure can always be a part of the equation, but it should be demoted to purely optional 🤷
