The undisputed star is a colossal 24-meter pyramid built in an ambitious 13 distinct phases. The complex also features a ritual ball court and intricate drainage systems.
Jade artifacts, such as beads and pendants, have been found at Tazumal, highlighting the use of precious greenstone in elite ritual practices. Greenstone, valued for its vibrant color, symbolized water and fertility in Maya cosmology.
