The thing is the Police cannot deal with real criminals
OK yes there are specialist departments.... but more and more they are a civil defense organisation
They protect public order, demonstrations, football crowds ... Motorists etc are their new targets.
And they are an expensive way of dealing with such 'serious' crimes
Policing needs a rethink

Looking back.... Remember when further education, University, night school was free.
Lots of Libraries, Cheaper rent in Council houses
National Owned, Water, Electric, Gas, trains, steel....
Pensioners especially ladies got a pension and became care workers looking after grandkids
Etc
Now we pay for further education... So the Gov can save money... Libraries closed , clinics closed ... More money saved
North Sea oil sold by Gov
Industries sold...
Pension age raised... More money saved
All this money saved and generated
Where the fuck is the Money....
The only thing we cannot afford is inept politicians, who support capitalism on the already wealthy over people

One of the maxims I work by is
Everything will cost at least twice as much as budgeted.
It will take at least twice as long to do as originally planned.
And will only be half as successful as envisaged.
Never surprised when all or part of that happens. As evidence I offer HS2

I know I'm beating a very old and tired drum here
But with the uncertainty with Russian aggression and the USA stupidity.... Both of which are not going to change soon and if they did could we trust them
Plus the rise of China, due to the aforementioned USA stupidity, as effectively the world superpower.
The UK needs to get closer to Europe, on our own we are a softer target on all fronts.
What would it take to push Starmer's Labour closer to our neighbours?

Where #trump has got it wrong
The USA is not the center of the Universe
Factories are not coming back to the US
e.g. iphones produced in the US would be uneconomical to sell to the world from the US rather than China.. same for all the big brands.
The US purchasing power might be more than say France but it is less than the EU
The world has moved on and trading groups have more clout than the US
The world can eventually live without the US
The US needs the world more than the world needs the US
China and the EU are more powerful than the US
The US will get rid of trump ... He is not untouchable

What would you do to help mitigate or slow down the inevitable ravages of climate change?.... Everything has a carbon footprint
I would make public transport excellent and cheap inc nationalising the trains.
Stop/curb building on Greenfield sites.... There are more than enough empty or underused dwellings to house everyone in the UK .... Build new social housing only if essential.
I could go on , but what would you do ?

Every facet of Civil Servant employment only has a certain number of staff
All doing jobs as instructed.... Over the years automation has been introduced and staff cut ... Hence the usage of forms, that require you to fill in boxes with standard answers
Forms are not touched by human hand., unless the 'robot' cannot deal or the response is odd
When policy changes and Form get complex.. staff gets switched from what they are doing to deal with it...

In the UK it was more a case of low voting.. traditional Labour voters .. Voted.. and the Traditional Tory voter not wanting to vote for people who have been inept for 14 years. So didn't vote
In the US.. It was Low voting... traditional Republican voters ., voted... Traditional Democratic voters couldn't bring themselves to go vote for a black woman. So didn't vote
The non voters couldn't see how either party would improve their situation... So why bother

Especially in Trump's USA
There are enough self grown workers in the USA to do low paid jobs (just most don't know it yet)
And enough educated ones to service that market
Too many infact.... Everyone else is surplus to their requirements... And call it as it is they can die or be deported.
Consider the future USA as a medieval fiefdom.... Lords at the top and the rest of us needed to service the needs of the Lords/ Ladies in the Manor house.... You only need a certain number of serfs

Seeing lots of beautiful pictures of Auroras North and South from areas that don't normally see them (or do they?)
I know they are the interaction between solar flares and the Earth's magnetic lines.
Are they more visible now due to climate changes or it just a phenomenon that has always been visible at these places?
Still not seen them yet

After WWII the UK was financial on its arse... Yet we did big bold things and created jobs and built houses... Collectively digging ourselves out of a hole
Now we have caution and dithering... We had creation of businesses... Now we have exploitation of people for personal wealthy individuals gain.
The same solutions employed after 1945 will work in today's market, if the Gov is brave enough and doesn't rely on the wealthy to distribute any gain upwards.

I suspect the thinking was it will be somebody else's problem to deal with...
Unfortunately, that time is now... And Government is unfit for purpose.... It doesn't know how to deal with the issue quickly and at scale.
Probably we will see a committee and think tank to look at the problem
