i went through the school of Saylor. I like his wisdom. I needed his metaphors to understand a lot of things.
the only reason to for me to not like him is that he has silly multiple choice aptitude test for his technical job openings which I failed. I have taken a lot of tests, and his test questions literally sound like he wrote them himself. It made me realize how insufferable of a person he probably is to work for.
then again, I wouldn't trust the company to invest in if it had hired me. so i'm back to square 1.

yeah, thank you for noticing. oracle pl/sql. i mostly run SQL queries, not much programming, in the field of OLTP "Online Transaction Processing".
i took the Oracle exam 3 times and failed, even though i could pass the written practice tests in a workbook no problem. there is something about this format of multiple choice in an online test like this that is soooo confusing;

yah, i'm just yakking, hoping something original will come out.
One Nostr-related thing I'm wondering about is, when replying to these Notes, i can "x" the people who aren't in the conversation, and I wonder if that really prevents them from being notified. There are some threads on here, where I'm trying to just reply to the one person, and I don't want to notify a whole thread of 30 people.
I've tried to remove the other NPUBs from reply, but when replying a 2nd time, i see all the people I deleted from notifications are back.
I once accidentally spammed the entire NY city hiking meetup list serve with a question about the upcoming hike, so trying to prevent that from happening again.
As a test, I'm removing everyone from these notifications.

someone I know is constantly complaining about the stupid power struggles in goverment. to the point of big bosses making underlings who threaten their position do stupid stuff.
These are the guys that are supposed to be taking over the world, and they think that they are flexing by having an underling attend a meeting on a Monday, or submit itemized receipts for a business trip instead of just giving them a daily amount.
I had a "hard faced" boss once who made me cry so many times. I had to be at work before she got there, and she would come around to my cube and pick apart the last email I sent or my latest failures. She was like Ellen Degeneres version of Miranda Priestly from Devil wears Prada.
She actually did me a huge favor. 1 year of Liz's bootcamp trained me for the world. I left on good term. mutal respect.

i like how you are thinking about this. I was fired once from a company that had mostly married guys with kids. The manager vaguely mentioned this to me. It's probably "discrimination" under some sort of law, but I like your framing better.
He can see that I didn't fit in and didn't enjoy working there, and it's not "because" of anything, it was just not a good fit!
getting fired however never feels good so, it's just hard to manage. I thought I was cool and could fit in with an office full of married straight men with kids!

that's what that guy Peter Zeihan used to say, that alot of Tech companies are just a zero interest rate phenomenon. It was one of the things that I think he got right.
I'm still left wondering if technology is the key to an abundant future or is technology just the cherry on top of abundance.

It's a DB... I think it's a DB because it's interfacing with web pages that could be open in different locations by multiple people at once.
I'm not a native computer programmer so I wouldn't know what another solution would look like. I just take the code as it was created by others and assume it's the best solution and just try to find the bandaid problems.

Welp, you're right. Sounds like a design flaw.
Perhaps it's made this way bc only step 5 knows if it should continue to additional step 6, and only step 6 knows if it passes criteria already or needs to go to step 7, etc.
Hmm. The way it overall knows it's finished is when there are no incomplete subtasks. But the criteria for propagating subtasks is at the subtask level.
I probably can't actually change whole structure, but I can recommend moving a "commit" around.

so I've been using Nostr as an escape from a problem I can't figure out at work.
Today I'm flipping this on its head and talking to myself on Nostr to solve my problem:
Workflow logic Bug:
main task contains 5-10 sub tasks, all of which need to complete for the main task to complete.
Error: every day a couple hundred (out of 100,000) main tasks are marked as complete even though they should not be because all required subtasks have not been created and/or marked as complete.
How it works:
Main task gets created (Status incomplete)
-->sub task 1 (status incomplete) starts, ends (status: complete) creates sub task 2
-->sub task 2 starts, end & creates sub task 3
-->etc
every 3 minutes, a separate procedure checks main tasks:
if all sub tasks are complete, main task is updated to complete.
So, for this error to occur, either:
1. the chain of sub tasks fails to create the next incomplete subtask (look in log)
2. the commit for the completed sub task happens before the commit for the insert of the new incomplete subtask, and the main task is updated to "complete" in this short window of time
3....
Questions to look up:
Are all Subtasks marked as complete? for the incorrectly completed Main Tasks?

This reminds me that now I have no longer pay for YouTube premium, I'm starting to get very generic ads that seem AI generated. One day the word "galavanting" was in my head. Within a couple days, I noticed that I was getting an ad where the character was using the phrase "galavanting about".
Today I'm getting an ad where the main character explains she likes her coffee black with no sugar, just a day after I wanted to write to someone the same thing.
I'm told that it's just LLMs predicting things, but it sure feels like Google/Android phone read my mind.

that whole region is great for road trips in the winter. i never liked road trips before driving in New Mexico, AZ, Colorado. and to lesser extent Nevada/Utah.
the vistas are never ending. Colorado especially has a different biome/landscape every 1 hour that you drive.
New Mexico has a special place in my heart although it's poor compared to the rest.
I drove from Tahoe to Reno to Salt Lake City, Reno to Salt Lake was least favorite part of the region. It got really interesting again south of Salt Lake CIty in Bryce Canyon.

Nevada is soooo dry. Unless it's Reno/ Tahoe area. In that case it's a very nice place. Utah is also horribly dry.
The good thing about Texas is that it sets your expectations so low that when you travel anywhere else on vacation, you will think it's beautiful

wyoming and montana were on my list of places to drive through this summer. I'm sure they are beautiful... but maybe you should also consider Texas. I'm not even from Texas, but it really has grown on me.
Texas has its own electrical grid, and it's close enough to Colorado that you could drive overnight up there. There are 2 hub airports for United and American Airlines plus we are a short bus ride/drive from Monterrey, Mexico with all of the Mexico destinations.
There's the ports along the Gulf Coast, and fertile gulf coastal plains. and then there is the Hill Country with it's cold fresh water springs in the middle of the state. Beautiful deserts to the west, and acres and acres of plateau farmland to the Northwest.
It's also very windy here, tons of windmills everywhere. It's just a hot wind from June to October, but you could drive up to New Mexico or Colorado for a break.
Maybe put Texas in your evaluation matrix...

I haven't read these stories in a long time, so first of all I'm surprised at how readable the whole first 6 books of the Bible are.
Secondly, since I grew up in church and I was just taught these miraculous stories as fact, I'm surprised at how easy it is for me to "believe" something.
I'm at the point where I'm wondering what the word "believe" even means. Can an action that is completely unseen alter real world stuff like a soul's destiny.
It's hard for me to tell, do I believe something or not.
I'm also trying to look at my beliefs from point of view of someone who wasn't trained in this stuff from a young age. Atheists are so refreshing. And I can see how they might be frustrated with someone with beliefs that create a disconnect with the world that they understand.
can you imagine if a company or country hires you, and your beliefs interfere with the job? they might be super angry that you some sort of belief system where you're doing charity instead of making money.
but as far as Jericho in particular, is it miraculous? was there a technology involved that we don't understand? was the walking around purely ceremonial? is there a link between the ceremonial, the miraculous, and technology?

It does seem that humans are really sturdy, and it's all the bad stuff combined in the last few decades that just does us in. it's hard to not consume up to the limit of what we can tolerate.
My great aunt at 98 still drinks a glass of wine before bed. I would sleep horribly if I did that. if i had a squeaky clean diet, i could probably go back to it.
she also ate a donut for breakfast and sausage & eggs (not saying this is bad).

Aspartame sounds especially bad.
I started avoiding any fake sweeteners a couple years ago due to the "leaky gut" problems they cause. Apparently they kill a lot of good gut biome.
Couple that with alcohol (just 1 or 2 drinks at lunch) and unhealthy American food, I had nightly heart burn.
Thankfully avoiding alcohol (except for the occasional drink) fixed the heart burn

Caffeine is extremely powerful for me. If I go without for 24 hours, I will get a headache and throw up around 36 hours around 48 hours I start coming out of the fog but it takes 3 weeks to get back to feeling normal without caffeine.

yes, I wrote it off as a Giffen good.
even buying it initially on an exchange was still not enough to understand what Satoshis were.
when i finally tried cold storage (actually it took a few months more because I first got a Ledger, and their software doesn't make it clear that there are separate UTXOs so i ended up with Blockstream Jade ) and understood what Satoshis were, someone on here said:
"Satoshis don't exist, they just measure UTXOs"
So that further accelerated the fall into the rabbit hole
I'm sorry I like to take out all my aggression on Ledger. but why did they leave me in the dark for so long about UTXOs? I'm sure I clicked around in their software enough to have discovered where they showed individual UTXOs, but thankfully I was adventurous to try another product (Jade) and that clearly showed different "coins" and the cost to combine them.
I'm having the same issue now with BitKey. I don't know what it does with individual small UTXOs on the wallet. Does it just automatically consolidate them for me when I send transactions? will i be left with unspendable chunks in the future?

wow, bizarre. it's the Christian flag. i've never given it much thought but I've seen it in the 90s in a 200 year old church that's not even "conservative".
this reminds me of a convo i had with a friend who thought Harley Davidson brand was "right wing, extremist, conservative, christian". I've always thought of that brand as being hippy, rebellious, sexually liberated.

I am speculating that humans in powerful government positions will follow their incentives too, which means centralize and control Bitcoin.
But as I think it's ultimately a losing game as everyone should win in the long run. In the short term they might use it to extract more power or something. IDK.

i like your analysis. I think if any president voluntarily undermined the US dollar in favor of any other currency including Bitcoin, they could be considered a traitor and promptly gotten rid of by TPTB.
after all isn't that what happened to JFK when he unilaterally tried to get rid of nukes? TPTB took him out as in their eyes he was traitorously putting the US at a disadvantage vis-a-vis CHina/RUssia?

your explanation takes a lot of loose ends and figures a way for them to all coexist and make sense.
my only rusty wisdom on the Revelation stuff is that it is subject to many interpretations such as "pre/post/ amillenial". and some of those camps have a lot of sales/money/fame invested in them. The less popular a-millenial version (also prob sells fewer books) suggests that it's more metaphorical and in the words of a poet (Lowell?): "The choice goes by forever 'twixt that darkness and that light".
However interpreting everything metaphorically leaves the question of technology on the table. I'm at the point where i prefer to think of everything as technology, and I like the freedom to speculate into the magical. I am also not going to publish best selling end times stuff and start a cult.

The tidal explanation makes a lot of sense to me too, esp since we know it's a phenomenon that actually occurs.
There are these secret UFO base stories where at least one gov contractor whistleblower states that he saw a large boulder hovering when he walked past, and then it was gone the next time he walked by.

i read one of his books. There were a lot of good geopolitical insights.
I could even take his statement about bitcoin as a joke. But he is unwatchable now. I also don't think i would read anything written past 2016.
However, I start to call into question his negative outlook for China... I mean it still seems pretty negative for their population. But i'm hoping the power of positive thinking might prop up their civilization.
At some point his thinking stopped reflecting observations of the world and started conforming to some nebulous religion that people who are closed to government military funding sources sort of maintain. Especially since he's GenX and probably participate in any of the wars.

It took me a few minutes to realize UTA is UT Austin. Austin is a beautiful place. everyone eats, drinks and runs around the lake til they have 6-pack abs. The I really like the architecture of the buildings. They have big sofits and sort-of California mission style.
I also studied engineering, although I wish I had studied computer science instead.
Korean and Russian! You remind me of someone I know who would read language books inside of his other textbooks in class because he was bored at the pace of the classes.

I don't have any experience in such things other than a friend tell me that she will never touch that one in particular because of an experience she had. She said a spirit followed her and she couldn't get rid of it for several months.
The same friend also read Tarot cards for me for the first time ever, and to my surprise she spoke of several concepts that had been overwhelming my thoughts at the time.

I only know of one other person who majored in economics in college. He was the smartest person in my dorm and said he was "libertarian", from Texas. I was blissfully unaware of politics back then.
What inspired you to learn about economics? it seems like a very researched discipline for a high school kid to want to study. Did you learn about it from a first-principles approach, and do they explain inflationary boom/busts?
I had 2 economics courses, and hated both of them at the time. I couldn't understand them, and they made me feel stupid. Now I think it's because it was treated as religion and explanations didn't make sense. The class example was the inflation in Brazil before it switched to the newer Real currency. The hyperinflation was blamed on people "expecting" higher prices the next day. It was completely a psychological phenonemon, the professor explained. But the government was smarter than the silly people and just switched the former Brazil money to the stable "Real" overnight. Voila, problem solved. smart government, silly people.
It sounds like you had a Near Death Experience...I listened to a few of those in the past year out of curiosity. It sounds like yours was very unpleasant. I've only heard of one story that the person had a bad time, but he also was living a life like the Grinch. After the experience he changed. Dreams can be really weird sometimes, I assume a dream when you are near dead or dead could be even worse.
One of the points in my personal journey the last 2 or 3 years was also having weird dreams. after many years of not having any, some of the dreams brought back sentences or wisdom that I hadn't thought of in 10 years. It was another weight to add to my worries that maybe life doesn't just end and we have no responsibility for the morality of our actions.
Yesterday, I just realized the dog has dreams too and sometimes his little paws are wiggling like he's chasing deer through forests. Other times, he's whimpering like he's reliving when we being him behind on vacation. So i've proved this theorem to the point where either the dog has got to go through the Akashic hallway too or nobody's immortal.

You mentioned "sin traps you in compromise". That was exactly the case for me as well. The friends I had, the events I had scheduled led me like a lamb to the vaccine. I had the intelligence to know it was unnecessary, but too much ego and just enough ignorance.
Your experience sounds quite awful. I hope you can figure out how to build back. I had no idea what what "myocarditis" was. I was young and healthy and nothing had ever slowed me down until shot # 2. It left me feeling like I aged 10-20 years. Now I'm taking naps in the afternoon.
The worse part was, there was one day about a year after booster#2 where I felt like someone had hit the restart button on me. I don't know if I can blame this on the booster shot, or if I accidentally ate weed butter. I can't remember if it was a dream or a thought i had while just laying there hoping my brain would re-stabilize, but I distinctly remembered the story of the "writing on the wall". The implication of it was that I could be crazy king nebuchadnezzer eating grass for 7 years if I didn't have the humility to just pray and ask for help. so i started praying at that point.
