This is not an attack on you and I am a fan of actual privacy. A Faraday bag sounds cool but to me it seems, idk, temporary and not very useful really. If someone is trying to track you they're going to know where you are as soon as you open the bag. And you can't use the phone while it's in the bag so I don't see how that would be better than just turning the phone off.

Got the Like buttons disabled if you're not logged in, and added a little tooltip on hover. Also made it so clicking on a disabled Like button takes you to the Login page, then redirects you back to the recipe you were just trying to Like once you're logged in and automatically Likes said Like ♥️🤘🏻

I have my next few games planned out and I'm allowing myself to take my time with them.
I signed up for gamepass when it first came out and it was great for a while but I found myself playing (and abruptly stopping playing) games in the order that someone wanted me to play (and stop playing) them in. And now that I got that out of my system I'm back to just playing the games that I want to play, I have the next few mapped out.
I was waiting for #Stalker2 for a long time and I'm finishing up my first playthrough now and I can't say enough about it, it's so incredible. It's just an amazing example of #videogames imo, I haven't enjoyed just getting caught up in a game this much in a long time and I probably will end up running through it again.
Anyway, up next is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 because I do love a good #RPG and some people are saying it's pretty good. And by some I mean everyone.
Then it's Indiana Jones and the Great Circle because I am also an Indiana Jones fan and this game looks pretty good
After that I just bought #Avowed on #PS5. Been waiting a while for this one, too, but I'm going to wait a little longer to actually play it because I have to space out the RPG's 😄
And speaking of RPG's, I recently started a couch co-op run of Baldur's Gate 3 with my youngest daughter and it's been so fun playing with her so far! She's busily finishing her bachelor's degree right now and only comes home periodically to eat yummy food and take naps.
We spent probably an hour in the character creator 🤘🏻😍
She knows literally nothing about this game but said she likes bashing stuff and I said, well, a barbarian is pretty good at that or a paladin or even a fighter.
She made a Tiefling barbarian that looks cool as hell and I made a Half-orc monk. We've been playing split screen and I've more or less just been following her lead. She's been controlling (skipping) most of the dialog, deciding who comes and goes in our party and controlling the combat of the entire party excepty character. And she's GOOD AT IT!!!! 😄
It's always been fun playing games with her because she gets it, she's checking out everyone's ability wheel and seeing what they can do, and then raining fire 🔥 on our enemies haha. She runs in with the tanks and indeed starts bashing stuff, and is using the ranged/magic/other characters perfectly and it's awesome 😄
All I have to do is run in and punch stuff.
And she told Astarion to piss off on first contact which I thought was hilarious 😂
She was like "No! Get out of here! You're weird!". Didn't trust that guy. And then we found him again a few minutes later and he was like walking down the path all dejected and she walked up and made friends with him again so he's in our camp after all.

Whelp I'm sold, do you know where I can get Wisp? Not seeing it on the play store.
My first nostr client was Amethyst and I still use it. I see all of the users and all of the hashtags I've followed in my feed there. And I like it, but I've gotten in the habit of force closing it every time I quit using it because otherwise it consistently keeps streaming things from my feed even like an hour later if I don't.
More recently I've been trying Primal and I like it, too. It feels polished and nice to use, but I don't see any of the many hashtags that I followed on Amethyst. I re-followed a bunch of them on Primal but so far I've just kinda been client-hopping between those two.

The best one is arguably the one you liked the best. I enjoyed the first one and still fire it up from time to time. I haven't beaten it in decades, but I still like playing it sometimes. So I guess for me the original one is the best one.
I also enjoyed the sequel, Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest. It was a bit different, it had slightly branching paths through the map so you could choose where you wanted to go where the first one was very much linear. And it had 100% more dialog than the first one.
And Castlevania 4 was also pretty great imo. It's basically what they would today call a remaster of the original with the same levels and same enemies, but with better graphics.

You know, I've played the original Half-Life and HL2 and the episodes repeatedly. The first one prompted me to buy and then install a new video card and arguably launched my career in IT. But I've only played Opposing Force and Blue Shift once.

Never made an Undo button before last night and never really thought about how they work tbh. But it makes sense that if you want to be able to undo something you've deleted you'll need to save the thing you're trying to delete somewhere, at least for a little while.
Turns out that somewhere is called localStorage! Or at least can be localStorage.
Anyway, so now, when she clicks the Delete Recipe button on a recipe, that click actually saves a copy of the entire recipe object including the image into localStorage and then pops the delete confirmation modal. Clicking the Delete button on the modal submits the form and actually deletes the recipe from the database.
And I added an Undo button on the "Recipe deleted!" success alert that re-adds the recipe from localStorage in case she gets that far on accident, and then it clears localStorage.
I wasn't sure where to put the Undo button really, but I think it makes sense in the alert since it's the thing that pops up on the screen the moment she clicks Delete for real. And it's a dismissable alert that won't disappear on its own on a timer or anything, so it'll just be there if she needs it until she navigates away.

Got Like buttons added to each recipe on the index page, got them appropriately boinging and incremented their z-index by 1 so they're clickable above the rest of the clickable recipe. Also made the link for seeing the ones you've Liked actually work by adding a query string called "liked" that filters the index page.
Pretty happy with how they turned out overall and that's another thing checked off the To-do list 🤘🏻

Alright I'm gonna nerd for a sec
For the first time in #Stalker2 I just got a suit upgraded enough so that I now have a lead-lined slot for artifacts which means the slot itself can take the maximum amount of radiation that artifacts can give off which means I can finally use the Legendary artifact I found called Hypercube without dying 😄🤘🏻
Even I don't know what it does, but the description says it has potential applications in space navigation. And there are those weird warp things you can jump into in this one, I wonder if anything special would happen if I jumped through one while wearing it 🤔

I took the advice of the guys at Vlambeer and did a couple game-a-week games and I think it does help. The idea is that you only spend a week working on it, and then move on. It prevents the perfectionism that I would otherwise slather all over it. I made Ribeye Pong and Fruity Pebbles Asteroids and with both of them I started on a Monday and quit working on them the following Sunday at midnight

Alright there's validation complete! 😅
It turned out to be a little more complicated than just "Do the inputs have values?" because the form itself for adding recipes became more involved as I went. It now builds a full-on preview for her with bullet lists as she types, and she can add multiple ingredients, seasonings and steps of instructions before submitting the final form. So validation really became more about "Has she added at least one of everything yet?" than "Do the inputs have values?"
All in all it was a bit more involved than I was expecting, but it works exactly how I want it to work now and I'm happy with the flow of adding a recipe. Plus with the validation buttoned up there's nothing left she'll be able to do to generate an actual Express error 🤘🏻

There probably is ~something~ out there, but even the smallest stars still exert a massive amount of gravity. They might be harder to spot, there is a lot of empty space to sort through, but maybe we could still see the effects of their gravity in the planets and things that are orbiting them?
I was just thinking about rogue planets the other day, the one that have somehow broken free from the pull of gravity in the star systems that they came from and are now just flinging through space on their own. They wouldn't be orbiting anything so they wouldn't really have a measurable year, I wonder if they'd still be spinning on their axis? And it would probably be dark out a lot. Either way it would be a crazy place to live 😄

Half-Life came with a level editor called the Hammer, or at least it used to, so if you had Half-Life you could start making maps for it, which I did. I made a bunch of maps for that and for Counter-Strike when it was still a HL mod back in the day, loved playing with level editors

A bunch of these little bastards swarmed the area right after I finished another fight and was already almost dead. Gotta keep an eye on that health meter, I did not expect them to be the thing that killed me

Well after lots and lots of playing I finally found something I don't like about #Stalker2!
Accidentally pressed the button to move the entire contents of my stash box into my inventory which immediately made me ridiculously overburdened. And there's no "undo", but you can easily move everything (including the original contents of your inventory) back into the stash box by clicking the Move Everything button again.
But if you want things back the way they were, your only option at that point is to move everything back one item at a time. I especially enjoyed moving all my 1000's of rounds of spare ammo back 30 rounds at a time.

I grabbed my 10 year old Nvidia GTX Titan X that had been overheating for some reason this morning and ended up taking it apart, taking THIS MANY screws out of it, cleaning everything, putting on some fresh thermal paste and putting it all back together, all on a whim.

Remember when they used to put an "s" at the end in parentheses when they weren't sure if there was going to be more than one of something or not, like code(s) or ticket(s) or whatever?
Not good enough for this chap!
That's been bugging me since I was a kid and I fixed it on my wife's recipe page. If she chooses 1 cup, for example, it'll say 1 cup. But if she chooses 2 cups it'll say 2 cups (plural) automatically. And the same for the rest of the units of measure (teaspoon, tablespoon etc), if any of them have an amount > 1 they get pluralized.
Also spent some time today adding the rest of the new recipe details to the show page, laying things out so it looks nice and finishing up the styling.
And that is the show page 99% done and 2 more things checked off the To-do list 🤘🏻
The only thing left on the show page is to finish fixing the Like button, which is functional but just kind of jammed in there at the moment.

Me too, I always kinda wanted to go with it and host a super-long game of Civ on the biggest map there is with the understanding that one or two moves per day is fine and we'll be playing this game together for months. But I could never find anyone that wanted to join such a venture.

Once I finish the page for my wife's recipes I'm going right into my next project which I already have well on its way. Most of the styling and layout is done, it looks nice but it's not incredibly complicated. It's also already responsive, the database is saving what I want it to save and I have authentication and authorization already working.
What's left to do is the core functionality of it and I'd like to make it my first #OpenSource project, but I've never ran one of those before and I could use some advice.
And I don't want to host it on GitHub because Microsoft, is there a good alternative that still uses #git? Also don't want to use VS Code anymore for the same reason. I guess I could use Sublime but I've never used it to make a whole project before. What do #Linux people use?

That was a good read, thanks for posting! I'm a fan, but I never really played a Prime game. I really only played the first 2, and by first 2 I mean the first 2 as they occurred chronologically (for me, anyway), Metroid and Super Metroid. I've also played but haven't beaten Fusion, Other M and Dread. But even from my mostly-removed perspective and from the trailers and stuff that I've seen, Prime 4 didn't look all that much like a Metroid game to me

It's a wild world out there in The Zone, remember those enemies I was talking about earlier called Burers that can throw things at you with their minds? One of them added insult to injury earlier. Not only did it rip my gun out of my hands and toss it somewhere, but then as I was scrambling around looking for it on the ground I started getting shot and turned around just in time to see that it was shooting me with my own floating gun that it was pointing at me with its mind and, a moment later, killed me with it 😂

Okay, there's adding steps of Instructions buttoned up, and with that the form for adding recipes is complete! That feels like a pretty significant milestone, the hard work is done, the recipe model is complete and adding recipes has a pretty good flow. That is a pretty good entry for the best co-op game of all time, and I might agree with you. I have an L4D hat that I still wear (and get comments on) and a T-shirt with a medpack on the back that sadly no one has ever commented on but maybe because people only see it as I'm walking away 🤔

But there are some pretty great co-op games out there, I also had a blast playing the original Gears of War with a friend and playing PixelJunk Shooter with my daughter

My wife and I were pulling into the Walmart parking lot recently, there was an ambulance there with its lights going and the EMT's were moving someone from their car to the ambulance on a stretcher as we pulled up.
Found out later that a woman shot herself in the hip (in the ass, really) on accident that day. Her gun went off as she was getting out of her car that also had her 3 kids and her husband in it because she put a bullet in the chamber and had left the safety off. And that's how they normally walk around with them, ready to fire at a moments notice (or go off on accident).

Noooo I haven't switched yet! I have used Debian and Ubuntu before, and I know that sudo is the Linux version of Run As Administrator, but it's been a while....
I'm in the middle of making a couple web pages and I've been using VS Code as my editor and I've been keeping my repos in GitHub, both Microsoft products 😬
I am planning to make the leap, tho

Depends on what kind of games you like. I really enjoyed the first Gears of War, one of the most fun couch co-op games imo and they just recently released the remaster called Gears of War: Reloaded for PS5. Stardew Valley is an entirely more peaceful game that now supports local co-op. And for some more lighthearted goofy fun we also enjoyed the the Overcooked games and one called Moving Out

I played a game called The Realm at a friend's house sometime in the mid 90's. It was an early side scrolling adventure game and it was definitely online and it had the Sierra logo when we launched it.

Okay I'm up too early again and playing more #Stalker2 is the clear solution.
And I'm gonna gush for a second and point out that the audio is so amazing!! There are audio cues to a lot of things in The Zone if you just stop and listen.
An adorable little enemy called the Burer, for example, hums. And it can be a pretty tough fight, it can pull your weapon right out of your hands and toss it fuck knows where, throw your grenades back at you and toss random objects like filing cabinets at you, all with its mind. It's normally chaotic at best, but if you catch your breath for a minute and listen for the humming, you'd figure out that's when his shield is active and you can't actually hurt him.
The artifacts also have an audio aspect that can help in finding them and I'm becoming an artifact nerd send help

Haha, I just found the starting area of the original Stalker, called the Cordon in #Stalker2. I didn't know they even included it, but I recognized it well before I got there and I immediately ran down to say hi to Sidorovich 😁👋🏻
Also found out if you sprint through the broken floating slivers of glass anomalies (idk what they're actually called) they will perforate your body and can cause some significant bleeding, but if you walk slowly enough you can actually pass right through them without taking any damage.

And Seasonings added throughout , I changed the recipe model so they're just an array of strings stored as a part of each recipe and displayed in a bullet list. No units of measure or fancy logic because if you ask her how much seasoning she uses she will almost certainly say "season to taste"

That "weird pulsing gravity anomaly" was no normal anomaly, it's big enough that it has its own marker on the map. It's called the "Bulba Anomaly" and it almost sucked me in and killed me a couple times but it did not, on fact, kill me. And I did get an artifact out of it called "Weird Ball" 🤘🏻
