interesting. I have a Pixel 7a and have always been so happy with Google phones. I guess my concern would be the what if's when I travel. Sounds like that isn't a big concern though, which is good to hear.
Have you found the beta features to be interesting to use?

This looks like a really cool feature, & I can already think of some great use cases for it on #Fosstodon. We could do a Team collection, we could create collections of the fantastic #opensource projects that choose to make their home on the server, we could create collections of contributors or maintainers, & so much more. #mastoadmin #cmgr

I'm with you on both of those thoughts. Optimistic me thinks this could be a good thing - he didn't really enjoy the spotlight, or let's be direct - the 'marketing' aspect of growing Mastodon. Some people just don't and that's totally fine. Hopeful the next batch of leaders do see the value in some of those pieces that will be necessary to continue its growth.

that feels like an idea that went completely wrong. I get enabling your employees to donate to causes they support, but rolling that all into a PAC feels like a really terrible idea for not only the employees, but the company itself.

nice. I've considered Obsidian so many times but don't think I've put in enough effort to look into it. My hangup is wanting access to my notes across work laptop (Mac), home laptop (Ubuntu), and phone (Android).
I'm curious - if you have a similar issue, have you found a workable solution with keeping that all in sync?

100% true - we were always lucky with the schools my son had access to, all the way from kindergarten. In high school, he got into a local 'magnet' school for STEM that continued his progression in computers and mathematics. He was lucky enough to take a cybersecurity class in 11th grade! I wish all kids would have access to these types of different opportunities.

hello Joshua and Adam, the team continued to see extremely disturbing behavior on that server and made the decision to defederate. (note - not all users were showing that behavior, but, it was troubling enough to make defederation the appropriate course of action)

my wife and I are evaluating this right now as well. I've successfully avoided WhatsApp. Instagram is likely the most challenging for me, FB for her. I remember my travels thru Insta, & keep up with old friends/family thru FB.
Currently, we're off the platforms for a week to gauge things & evaluate their usefulness.

agree. I still love Mastodon, and TBH, I wasn't impressed with Bluesky at first - they didn't even have a working version of hashtags. It's come a long way and a bunch of my Twitter community is there. So, I'm on both Mastodon & Bluesky - community is what matters no matter the platform.
