**Security vulnerabilities probably still exist**
**Announcements:**
- Custom corkboards are a new kind needing proposal, if widely useful. Like lists, and more like custom feeds: can include rss and hashtags.
- Dismissed/Muted notes list is a new kind needing proposal, if widely useful.
- Some of the below bugs may not have fixed. I have tested most if not all, but clod seems to have a tendency to regress.
**New Features:**

- Moved to standard use for a few nips and kinds that clanker had gotten creative with

**Bugfixes:**

- UI explains what it's doing verbosely during 'loading notes to discover'

- Hides 'deleted' notes in respect of user request / allows 'delete note'
- Hardcoded rss-proxy security upgrades
- Increased note cache size
- Fetching more wasn't working on corkboards that only contained rss feeds or hashtags
- 'Auto' mode doesn't allow misclicks by user when suddenly rearranging notes, has a timed ignore window to avoid rugging user
- Opening external link by clicking on it in card was returning to an opening thread modal
- When fetching, if all the fetched notes are dismissed, UI will show a note and fetch the first ones that are not yet dismissed
- Onboarding flow was switching from explanatory text to vague one before there was time to read it, instead of just showing the verbose explanatory text throughout
- Was showing disconcerting 'user_xyz123' text instead of a loading indicator until profile information, including avatars, was fetched
- Discover flow 1) ask first relay for 1 kind 1 non-reply note from 5 of first hardcoded npub's follows 2) ask next relay for same, for second hardcoded npub 3) ask next relay for same, for third ... etc, round robin. add'l rules: get profile info at the same time | keep adding notes at the bottom of the feed as they are found | don't add the same note twice | don't add the same npub/author twice. Future: WOT + randomizer seed
- Discover mode: hover on any card to see 5 more notes from that author
- Logout was still not clearing all caches :| Priorities, clod. Data was surviving logout, could be leaked from one user to the next on the same device
- More attempts to get to the right reply in the thread modal when clicked, and to show full thread, still buggy
- 'Include my notes' setting was sometimes not applying
- Cleaned up settings modal and put the backup functions under a new icon to the right of the settings gear
- Settings download to file has everything and is identical to blossom file backup
- Purple 'scroll to top' arrow didn't mesh, moved to center, green
- Autofetch was not working when toggled on after notes already loaded
- Spoilering occurs at same height, but not unless > spoiler_threshold * 1.5, so that we're never spoilering for just a few characters
**Lastly:**
- I had clod optimize for human readability, code accessible to contributors and forkers, verbose documentation, and useful console messaging/logging
- After adding verbose console logging, ran through and clicked everything, then fed log to clod for a look at any errors or possibilities
- Asked clod, What would you do differently?
- Asked clod to audit for vulnerabilities, elegance, best practices, tech debt, optimizations, privacy, cypherpunk sensibilities
I have added features after doing the above 4 steps last, so I will repeat again before next release.
**Requesting:**
- Beta testers looking for bugs, making suggestions and feature requests.
- Security vulnerabilities, or console log insights, but not requesting in depth technical audits yet. I am first going to go through all the variable names, have them explained to me, and then have them changed to something that makes sense and doesn't have confusing overlap. Then open source it (next release). Then, such a request might be reasonable.
- If there's anything foolish please explain so we can all learn from it. I'm sure there's some of that :D

- Dismissed notes now have an 'undo' option that lasts 20 seconds
- Nested nevents should render more consistently

### Corkboards.me 1.9 Alpha
- Turns out without stage at an isolated subdomain, caching can get mixed. stage.corkboards.me is still propagating, so corkboards.me top level domain has newest.
- Fixing above resolved the unsolved mysteries, so fixing note fetching was easy. Load 25 or 100 notes at a time, and optionally set a 1x2x3x multiplier
- May have made the fetching a bit more reliable and faster by including fallback relays with the logged in npub's outbox relays for the 'more notes' fetches, with a lower timeout
- Minor UI edits
- Corkboards with only one npub show profile information

Changes deployed to corkboards.me/stage for testing:
- Visible / Dismissed / Filtered / Total counts
- Custom corkboards just load right from cached prefetch of all follows recent notes, and only look to relays for any npubs outside of follows, or to internet for rss feed info.
- Fetch 100 notes button was not working even though 10 button was. The 2nd and 3rd buttons and the combination of 'add # notes' and 'add # of hours' was causing clod ridiculous problems. I don't like removing choice, but here I removed and changed a lot to result in what works, and to rid unecessary complexity. I'm dum on storage (and most things, really) so not sure if the architecture is ideal. The rest is up to experts in the next phase.
- What I ended up with this iteration is to estimate a time window that will fetch the requested amount of notes based on what notes are already there. i.e. if the last 25 notes were posted in an hour, fetch another hour. If that's not enough, fetch again. As a result, if you click for 25 more, you get 25ish more.
- Because above is so much more than a bugfix, I ran a tech debt audit and asked for / implemented suggestions.

- Clod renamed the global multiplier to 'time window'. Changed back to 1x 2x 3x
- New floating 'Load more' and 'consolidate' menu includes options to load a specific number of notes, rather than just a specific time frame. These new ones are also affected by the global multiplier option for more choice and flexibility.
- 'Load x more hours' = loads all notes within that timeframe, starting at oldest note already loaded
- 'Load n more notes' = looks at what is already there, then loads that many notes, starting with newer than newest, then filling any gaps between newest and oldest, then any older than oldest
- Hopefully Removed duplicate calls to fetch from relay, and preventing repeated requests

Not fully tested, but it appears that save to relays is finally functionalTM. Saved and dismissed notes should match on all devices after manual backup/restore. Uses some encryption, but some metadata leaks to relays.
Looking at a dedicated relay for storage of these as nip 44 replaceable events in the future (and distributed redundancy). This won't leak the metadata. Then, option to automatically backup to relays in the background so that all devices just sync.

- Reposts were showing content twice, now only above, nested, and no superfluous italic text
- Youtube links were not rendering and causing issues. Changed to normal external links for now
- Opening a link in a new tab no longer opens thread modal in original tab
- Closing thread modal no longer refreshes page automatically. The goal is minimal disruption of reading flow / spacing / columns without jump, so that it’s up to logged in npub when new posts get loaded, get consolidated, or move in any way.
- Some nostr events were not rendering, this should be fixed now
- Bottom of columns made somewhat more even
- Green button on minimized/saved for later note now expands note in place, rather than returning it below
- New filter options
- Added backup of settings/corkboards/minimized and saved for later notes states, should preserve settings and state across devices and sessions. Not fully tested. Autosync isn’t going yet. - Had AI consult the writings of nostr founders and developers and best practice documents as well as login implementations to doublecheck and rewrite the security notice. ~“consider eff berners lee cypherpunk sensibilities, not modern big tech concessions/rationalizations” Significant changes were needed.
- Login options now show color coded security preference, robot initially made nsec paste red, but labeled it 'acceptable risk.' Though that may be true in certain environments, nsec paste has been removed.
- Amber one-click connect is now functional
- Noobs who create new account are now told to save their extra secure password to their password manager. Considering 'learn more' options all the way to pearpass etc or...

- Fixed backward toggles and note type styling

- Dismissing notes is now smoother, notes can be dismissed before minimizing, and ‘notes loaded’ count now updates accordingly. Dismissing a post now only makes it blank and removes it from storage/memory (preserving space and preventing screen jump / reading interruption). Then a consolidate button appears, which can clear all and recompact columns. Minimized posts therefore go above the fold/hr line and are now referred to as ‘save for later reading’ moreso than ‘already read.’
- Minimize is now more like ‘read later’ than ‘already read.’ Minimized notes go above the fold, and read posts get dismissed. This eliminates all jumping around. Notes only move now when ‘consolidate’ is clicked manually.
- Untested mobile optimization attempts
- Fixed ‘Load newer posts’ button
- Rearranged default corkboard positions in menu and made custom rearrangement possible
- Added buttons to load more posts and filter toggles to all corkboards
- How long ago the note was posted now displays next to the explicit date
- Styling matching

It truly is only my own playing that I judge this way. I learned (unreasonable?) performance expectations from pool. But a singer can sound like a hippopotomus to add to a jam and it's good from the heart to me, just like it really is just fun to play someone that enjoys playing no matter how good they are (if they like the game more than looking cool).

When I say imagine this rough draft sketched on a napkin, I mean to say it is a totally unoptimized microphone setup, atrocious compression, unacceptible execution, cringeworthy performance, and rougher a rough draft than ears ought to be subjected to.
But I've finally decided on a few consistentish songs to practice each morning, and here they are, first recording. I foolishly failed to tune up or have my fingernails cut, but my hair looked nice, which obviously is the most important part.
Discerning ears will hear that I am not the technical master but the ideas are sound. As such the most efficient arrangement would be to team up with a accurate repeater who can take an idea, take it further, and perform it flawlessly. But, given the lack of obvious examples of such success, and my inability to sell ideas, I will just continue to practice it every day, in the unfortunate event that my only option will be to, as cartoon thinkers often expect, fade the superficialities of performance for which I will never be optimally suited.
