We have the same stance of most developers in my ORG. And well they are just wrong, intellectually lazy and no effort trying the real workflows, midwit people.

Great post explaining cores reasoning without any non related attacks or accusations!
Even though I disagree with the point that it's not worth playing the cat and mouse game. I think we can define very well, what's a monetary tx and what not
and in the cases where we can't, the friction is so high and the data rate to low, that we can ignore it. It worked good until taproot.
In the long run, fees will solve most of this problem agreed 🤝 but we are not there yet.

Why the Spammers Are Uniting Against KNOTS – and What’s Really Behind It?
As I see many personal attacks against KNOTS proponents and crazy stories, I think it’s time to put forward my own “crazy” story of why those attacks are made and move the discussion away from the obvious. I’ve been watching the same choreography for weeks: personal attacks, absurd distractions, zero interest in technical details. So fine, here’s my theory:
1) The lever is template control
Once miners build their own block templates (e.g. via DATUM or Stratum v2 Job Negotiation) and apply stricter policies, the inclusion probability of non-monetary data blobs drops significantly. No “censorship” of consensus, just policy hygiene at the selection layer. This is what they fear!
2) Propagation latency is a real cost center
TXs that are not widely relayed slow down block propagation. Result: higher orphan risk. That risk is an implicit cost premium that miners will either price into fees (or drop such TXs). For spammers, that means they must pay much higher fees , suddenly their business errodes.
3) Why the counter-campaign is so shrill
Here’s the motive stack:
* Revenue protection: As more templates adopt policy hygiene, the cheap inclusion pipeline collapses. Margins shrink.
* Narrative protection: As long as “everything that pays gets in” is dogma, the path stays open for future monetization tricks at the expense of block space and relaying nodes.
* Bargaining power: Centralized template building makes it easy to pressure a few pools. Decentralized template control (DATUM/Stratum v2) removes that leverage. You will be forced to relay through the filtering peer-to-peer network, instead of circumventing it via out of band services.
* Cheapest defense: It’s far easier to attack people than arguments , so maintainers and Knots users get smeared, to make others afraid of tightening policies. This is not about Knots, you can just not update to Core v30 with the same effect (less the oridnals filters though).
4) “Censorship!” is a smoke word
KNOTS doesn’t make any consensus-valid transaction invalid. It changes relay and selection policy, not the rules of the chain. If someone insists on mining exotic TXs, they can ,but they must pay the orphan premium. That’s a price signal, not censorship.
5) The tipping point they fear
It doesn’t take 100% hashrate. Once policy hygiene reaches a critical mass, the economics flip: either miners demand much higher fee premiums (volume drops), or they leave such TXs out (volume drops too). This is the threshold that noise, threats, and personal attacks are meant to prevent.
6) “Send directly to the miner” doesn’t save it
Yes, you can hand non-relayed but consensus-valid TXs directly to miners. But the finished block must still propagate, without peers knowing those TXs, you get extra round-trips, i.e. latency, i.e. risk. That’s no free ride, it’s an expensive gamble.
Conclusion:
KNOTS + miner-side templates price in externalities that were previously free. Anyone profiting from flooding block space with data-heavy junk must mobilize against it, preferably through personal attacks. But the technical-economic equation stays simple: the broader policy hygiene spreads, the higher the required fee premium and the less “spam” is worth it to the miners.

Misleading statement. DATUM *will be* a competing protocol to Stratum V2, once the latter will actually realize the miner-side-template-production. I think as of now OCEAN/DATUM is literally the only case of minin-side-template-production active on any pool. Even then, it will be a competing protocol, but not competition to his pool: Luke confirmed OCEAN will support SV2 as well once it gets traction.

It just happened that, for no good reason that I know of to this very day, some weird type of NON-coinjoin txs by Whirpool (tx0s) contained Op_returns uselessly larger than Core's historical limit (which was still Knot's limit).

Knots proposed and has implemented a solution to rate limited Ordinals. Spam is a cat and mouse game you have to fight on the mempool level, to not drift towards censorship.
I think it's valid to say that the quantity of spam on the chain is a relevant factor and if we can reduce 99% of that it's a good outcome. It makes a difference if the network makes an effort to reduce this behavior or if it opens itself up to it with all guards down.
