En bon français, je peux passer des heures au café, à regarder les gens passer, bavarder de tout et de rien, ou simplement lire ou rêver. Chose que ma femme ne conçoit pas. Pour elle, on marche dans la rue vers un objectif précis et on part du café au bout d'un moment. Elle ne flâne qu'à la maison.
Faut dire que se balader et se perdre à Rio est plus dangereux qu'à Paris. Ici, c'est le genre d'endroit où passer par le mauvais chemin en voiture peut terminer en tirs sur le pare-brise. É raro mas acontece muito (vous devez savoir à présent ce que ça signifie).
Comme diraient les brésiliens « graças a Deus », je ne me suis jamais retrouvé pointé par une arme à feu. Les brésiliens sont plutôt religieux, ce qui me paraît parfois étrange, ayant vécu la plupart de ma vie en France; mes amis les plus religieux étaient mes amis musulmans.
Je ne sais pas d'où viennent les préjugés que j'ai par rapport à la religion. J'ai l'impression que les gens très croyants sont un peu bébête, voire dangereux. Peut-être que c'est parce que j'ai appris que l'Église catholique a retardé les progrès scientifiques. Bon aussi, j'ai vu des bandes de fous. Des trucs qui ressemblent à des sectes qui passent tranquille à la télé.
Dans mes moments de doute, je me dis que j'aimerais avoir un appui spirituel. Et j'envie ceux qui demandent à Dieu de l'aide. Moi, j'suis face à moi-même à me demander quoi faire de cette vie. Mais c'est peut-être un truc normal par lequel tout le monde passe.
On est trop occupé par le travail, la vie, les obligations, qu'on en oublie cette importante question. On suit un rythme qui fait qu'on répète les mêmes gestes jour après jour. Puis quand l'horloge n'a plus de batterie, on se prend cette question à la gueule, aussi violemment que quand on se prend une droite pour la première fois.
Je suis bouddhiste et, malgré mes étés passés à visiter le monastère, tout ce que j'ai appris ne sont devenus que mots que je comprends intellectuellement. J'étais peut-être trop jeune quand j'y suis allé, et je ne connaissais pas la douleur d'être vivant.
C'est pourtant bizarre de souffrir quand on a tout pour être heureux. Il y a des années, j'aurais appelé ça avoir des problèmes de riche. Au fond, mes problèmes de riche ne sont pas si différents de mes problèmes de pauvre.

« Rules dictate behavior » disait un de mes professeurs de Jiu-Jitsu. C'est ce qui fait la différence entre le Judo et le Jiu-Jitsu, la boxe et les arts martiaux mixtes. Chaque règle incite un certain comportement, mais avec assez de compétition, les joueurs finissent toujours par trouver des raccourcis qui vont à l'encontre du dessein initial.
Pourquoi les footballeurs tombent-ils aussi facilement? Simplement parce que c'est vachement plus facile de marquer avec un penalty. J'ai compris ça bien tard en temps que compétiteur.
La grande différence des brésiliens, c'est qu'ils sont rodés au niveau de la compét. Il y a des compétitions presque toutes les semaines et au bout d'un moment, on s'habitue à tout: le stress, les gymnases, la préparation, les stratégies, les arbitres, les adversaires. La compét fait partie d'une routine. C'est comme à l'école, contrôle toutes les deux semaines.
Dans le monde de l'entreprise, il y a les OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) ou les KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). Ils permettent de montrer à nos braves investisseurs que la boîte est en croissance et permettent aussi de savoir qui va être viré lors de la prochaine vague de licenciement; ça peut arriver quand la boîte recrute beaucoup pour croître, mais n'arrive pas à trouver d'investisseur pour la prochaine levée de fond. Comme disent les brésiliens « é raro mas acontece muito » (c'est rare mais ça arrive souvent).
Ces statistiques entraînent les mêmes dérives qu'en URSS où une usine aurait évité la production de modèles de meilleure qualité, plus légers, parce que celle-là était jugée par la masse totale produite.

L'arrivée au Brésil
Un de mes meilleurs amis de la fac, Pedro, est franco-brésilien. Entre deux cours de maths, il m'apprit quelques mots de portugais. J'ai retenu « Quer ficar comigo? » qui signifie « Veux-tu rester avec moi? » dans le sens « Veux-tu rentrer chez moi pour qu'on couche ensemble? » ou « Netflix and chill » comme diraient les ricains.
Aux États-Unis, un de mes collègues, Jair, m'apprit « Eu gosta de mulheres gostosas » qui signifie « J'aime les meufs bonnes. » Déjà moins utile pour draguer, mais ça en fera rire certains.
Je déménageai au Brésil après que mon visa eut expiré. La boîte qui m'avait recruté eut la malheureuse idée de m'engager après la saison des H1B (le visa de travail). Je partis donc aux US avec un visa de stagiaire, le J1, qui ne dura qu'un an. La boîte ouvrait une filiale au Brésil et, après des années aux côtés de Pedro et d'Hakim, mon prof de Jiu-Jitsu, ça me tentait bien de vivre là-bas.
J'arrivai à Rio après un long vol San Francisco-Panama, où j'étais à côté d'un gros qui prenait toute la place et d'un gamin qui chialait. Autant dire que le premier vol était bien plaisant. Il eut ensuite dix heures d'escale où je ne fis que dormir, et enfin j'arrivai à Rio dans la nuit.
Le père de Leo, mon coach de Jiu-Jitsu aux US, alla me chercher. Il oublia où il avait garé sa voiture et dut demander au gardien de l'aider à retrouver sa caisse. Il me déposa à l'appartement de la boîte et je rejoignis mes collègues qui faisaient la fête. Nous rentrâmes à cinq heures du matin. Bienvenue à Rio.
Kyle était arrivé un mois avant moi et était donc mon guide. Il m'enseigna « aqui », qui signifie, « ici » et « valeu », qui signifie... je sais pas. On l'utilise pour dire « merci ». On peut le combiner avec « obrigado » (merci) pour donner « valeu obrigado ». On peut aussi l'additionner à lui-même pour dire au revoir « valeu valeu! »
Avec ces deux mots, je réussis à survivre quelques semaines. Pour dire au Uber où j'allais, il suffisait de dire « aqui », de même pour commander au restau. J'appris l'anatomie au Jiu-Jitsu. À force d'aller au cours, j'apprenais comment dire un cou, un coude, un genou, etc. Parfois, le professeur commençait le cours avec un monologue. Les vieux, ça adore raconter les anciennes batailles. Je ne captais rien et attendais debout qu'il finisse ses histoires. Ça pouvait durer vingt minutes.
Un midi, on alla à un restaurant qu'on finira par appeler « soy ». Il y avait de la viande hachée végétarienne que je pris pour du boeuf. C'était de la merde, la bouffe végétarienne à Rio, c'était pas ça. Pour ne pas répéter la même erreur, je demandai à Luis, ou Luizão (grand Luis), comment refuser d'aller à « soy » de nouveau. Il me répondit « teu cu » qui veut dire « ton cul », dans le sens « va te faire foutre ».
Les cariocas (habitants de Rio), ça jure beaucoup. J'ai grandi avec un voisin portugais, donc j'étais déjà familier avec « caralho » (bite), qu'on emploie dans le même contexte que « putain » ou « merde ». Mais j'appris au Brésil que la bite avait une maison, la « casa do caralho ». C'est un lieu imaginaire lointain; en français on dirait que c'est à Bab El Oued ou à Perpète-lès-oies.
Au Portugal, il y a une vraie casa do caralho (regardez sur Youtube), ce qui va dans le sens des préjugés brésiliens sur les portugais. Ils disent que ceux-ci prennent tout à la lettre. C'est un peu comme les belges pour les français.
Bon, c'est fini pour aujourd'hui les histoires, il fait une chaleur de fou (trente-quatre degrés) et une bière m'attend au frigo.

Fuck my life
Mon chef commença une phrase avec « For your career, I think... » Je n'ai pas écouté la suite, je savais qu'il allait me sortir tous les éléments d'une liste à laquelle je devais me conformer si je voulais une promotion.
Peu à peu, je me déconnectai du monde, et de la situation dans laquelle j'étais. J'avais appuyé sur le bouton pause et je rembobinais la cassette pour savoir comment j'avais attéri dans ce bordel.
J'étais un putain de prisonnier. Prisonnier de ma vie, prisonnier de mes ambitions, prisonniers de mes relations. Je voulais dire à tout le monde d'aller se faire foutre, mais je n'en avais pas le courage. Alors j'acquiesçai aux conneries de mon chef, espérant que la réunion allait se terminer bientôt.
Ma journée termina, j'éteignai mon ordinateur et allai chercher une bière dans le frigo. Quelle vie de hamster. J'allais de mon bureau à la cuisine, puis au lit, puis à la salle de sport, puis au bureau de nouveau. On pourrait résumer ma vie avec une chaîne de Markov. Et il fallait me libérer de celle-ci.
Alors je fis mon rituel habituel. Je préparai mon email de démission. Tout le monde me demanda pourquoi je partais. Je sortis une de ces excuses que j'avais déjà dite maintes fois. On ne sait jamais, peut-être que je recroiserais ces bouffons un jour, dans une autre boîte.
Quand ma mère me demanda pourquoi je suis encore parti d'un job qui payait bien, je ne sus quoi lui répondre. Pourquoi suis-je parti? Allai-je le regretter dans le futur? Il y a un nombre limité de pétage de câble que la société accepte de quelqu'un. J'avais sûrement atteint cette limite et allais être catégorisé comme mec instable, marginal.
Je glandai durant les semaines qui suivaient ma démission. Un truc qu'on se rend compte bien vite, c'est que glander seul, c'est chiant. Personne avec qui traîner, aller à la plage, prendre un café, se bourrer la gueule. Les seuls gens qui avaient un tas de temps, c'était les clodos. Mais je n'étais pas assez sociable pour me lier d'amitié avec eux.
Alors je continuai ma vie, suivant une autre chaîne de Markov. Sauf qu'au lieu de taffer, j'allais lire ou j'allais boire un verre.
Et puis un jour, mes bourses devinrent maigres. C'est l'enchaînement logique quand on ne fout rien de sa vie et que l'argent ne fait que sortir de son compte. Il fallait que je sorte ma gueule de premier de la classe, mais je n'en avais plus la force.
Je répondis aux messages de recruteurs, de préférence ceux qui offraient un bon salaire. Quitte à se faire chier, autant gagner du pognon. « So why do you want to join us? » me demandait la CEO. Bah parce que tu m'as envoyé un message et que j'ai besoin d'argent, tiens. Mais bon, fallait que je recommence à sucer des bites et sortir des mythos de nouveau. Comme diraient les américains: « Fuck my life ».

There are some features that makes it hard for me to switch, like airdrop, or sharing the clipboard. Since I have a few macbooks, I use that all the time. Take your time. Try to learn by writing code. After learning Python's syntax, you'll see that you might get stuck on the types of problems you'll be able to solve. With just the syntax, you might be able to write something like a sudoku solver (search for: backtracking), or maybe a calculator (search for: shunting yard algorithm). But to do anything useful, you might have to learn other things.
That's because real life problems need other types of knowledge, like understanding networking, things like sockets, IP, DNS, HTTP, etc. You might want to try to learn using Linux or BSD. If you want to learn web development, you might wanna learn HTML/CSS/Javascript/SQL.

Here I create a docker-compose file (that is just an empty shell script), and called the script that I wanted to test with the current directory added to the PATH.

A lot of the logic in a shell script is about executing other commands. You can mock those commands by either changing PATH, using aliases or defining functions.
I don't know if that is what you meant by "dry run", but that's the only thing I can think of.

I was at the same place, but now that I'm not working, I started to enjoy programming again. I think it's a matter of finding something you're interested in, some technology you want to play with, some proof of concept you wanna make, etc.
Programming for work is kind of boring. So, on my fun time, I prefer to do the exact opposite. No unit test, ugly hacks left and right, testing weird ideas, following 0 best practice.

Quand je rentre sur Alby, les deux seules options que je trouve sont créer un compte sur Alby ou connecter un wallet.
Au final, j'ai abandonné et j'utilise nos2x-fox.
