On the Virginia gerrymander. It failed in the VA Supreme Court 4-3. Half the court wanted to approve a brazen violation of law that connected most districts w/govt workers/foreigners in DC. It’s a victory that is a harbinger of defeat without deportations and firm use of power.

Packing the Supreme Court would require replacing the Judiciary Act of 1869 - which fixes SCOTUS at 9 Justices. So the left needs to get a law through Congress, not just win the presidency.

For the left, the right is always a ‘danger to democracy.’ When the left wins it’s a ‘victory for democracy.’ To solidify that victory they proceed to investigate, prosecute and bankrupt their vanquished foes - because that is what ‘democracy’ really means for them.

I had a male teacher for grades 5 and 6 who was highly eccentric (and not gay - he was a family man without a whiff of scandal). He had old printing presses in the classroom and we learned about how books and newspapers were printed - by printing our own pages with movable type we set ourselves. He showed us violent war movies. He had WW2 and Vietnam veterans come in and give graphic talks. One guy talked about his baptism of fire in Japan - he said something like ‘I jumped into the foxhole and killed two Japs with my pistol - I’m glad I bought that pistol off a guy before the fight because I might not be here if I hadn’t.’ The teacher would tells us the casualty figures of WW1 and 2 and sometimes start crying. He also taught us chess, and he spotted kids who were good in math. He gave me math problems well in advance of 6th grade, and ensured I was pushed up a level in middle school. He was tolerant of wild boy behavior - including boys throwing things at each other across the classroom.
Only a few years later I heard he had to stop showing the war movies, the veterans weren’t allowed to give talks. He retired shortly thereafter - he was getting old anyway.
But this kind of man used to teach elementary school. I don’t know why he wanted to do it - but he was good at it. And I don’t think there are many like him in public schools now - and that isn’t good for boys.

This business at the Heritage Foundation reminded me of the symbiotic relationship between Christians and Jews in places like NYC, where they work side by side every day.
Observant Jews take the Sabbath, starting at nightfall on Friday and going through sundown on Saturday. This can put a little strain on their Christian (or just atheist/agnostic) colleagues when there is a weekend crunch. But no one ever questions their right to do this, their religious observance is respected. There are also a number of Jewish holidays that fall on weekdays that can make things a little hard for their colleagues once in a while.
Jews pay back their Christian coworkers by having their backs during the Christmas holidays and Easter. At least that has been my experience. I've never had any trouble flying across the country, and largely disconnecting from work during those times because there were plenty of Jewish dudes to man the station.
I think this would be a good way of viewing what this Catholic man at Heritage said about a shabbat dinner. Personally I wouldn't have any issue attending one if I were invited - but if he does because he wants to fast, or just eat fish, I don't see why it's a big deal. Just like when Jews unplug Friday night/Saturday evening - Christians accept it without complaint (or should).

This is important. There is a clear-cut case of a federal judge abusing his power to subvert the law. If the Senate cannot impeach and remove Boasberg - then judicial power is unchecked. (Don’t hold your breath btw…)

Elon is exactly right about this - it’s the thing I had in mind posting this Upton Sinclair quote. And it’s not just San Francisco. Portland, Seattle and other places with a homelessness industry/infrastructure are doing the same thing.

Think the reason people aren’t having sex is because they are retreating from life. They had porn in the 80s. Drugs before that. It’s the screens. People are living in virtual realities all the time. We’ve all seen the folks on subways buried in phones and tablets - no interaction. People in 1980 had porn, tv and all that - but not so much of it. Real life was still where it was at. Think this is also why people take simulation theory seriously, why no one believed such things until the 2000s. It’s retreat from life.

Please say hello to Genesis Lee Whitted Jr. President Biden granted him clemency as part of his pardon spree to let people out for "non-violent drug offenses." But this man and his gang were linked to numerous home robberies, where they would pour boiling water on people to get them to give up cash or drugs. Apparently Genesis here even poured boiling water on a woman's genitals in one such adventure.
You can keep this in the back pocket whenever anyone complains about Trump pardoning J6 prisoners.

I keep hammering home that extreme cases tell you something about the everyday.
A lot of people find it hard to believe that people just lie brazenly, will do it publicly, psychopathically. But they do and will.
This is Ted Bundy in open court, after conviction, denying guilt for murdering several women - he would later admit to killing these women on TV. He’s doing some lying that convinced a lot of people for years.
It’s useful to spend time around criminals and liars so you know this is a thing. And you get a feel for it - when you’re being lied to.
Kamala Harris and her outfit are lying to you btw. About the neatest example of ‘phonies’ matching Catcher in the Rye I’ve yet seen.
