The quote above is from Zora Neale Hurston’s “Their Eyes Were Watching God” and invites us to dive deeper than romantic love. Hurston, an incredible author, anthropologist, and poet, offers us a treasure trove of insights. Yes, she beautifully explores romantic love, but she also reveals the importance of self-love, courage, and the power we find in uplifting each other, especially in times of adversity.

Grapes of wrath. Given all that’s going on these days, the rampant injustice, families being torn apart, the brutality, and even murder, it’s easy to feel that rage is the only appropriate response. It’s a bitter cup to drink from that only leads to more of the same, but it’s not our only choice.

💛 “The Biggest Danger of 2025”
When we look at 2024 through the lenses of racial equity, allyship, and inclusion, many would say America has dropped the ball. I disagree. America was a no-show for the Democracy vs Fascism championship game and instead indulged in tailgate debauchery with racists, bigots, misogynists, white supremacists, and xenophobes. Do better.
