Wow, my favorite #Portland #chef is opening a new place near me. He was one of the first pioneers in the city to serve authentic Mexican cuisine and just a few blocks from our house he opened Autentica. If I had to pick a last meal it would be his brunch juevos rancheros. When it closed we were such regulars that we got to come to their final night for friends and family.

sigh but it's these fake "concerns" that are being used politically and that is why I am angry. I am not angry at anyone in this thread, I am angry at the GOP as usual. I would argue that "supervision" is the main concern that most people have about in-person voting - supervision by police, ICE, or the like while you're trying to run the gauntlet put in front of you that's designed to prevent you from voting in the first place.

my wife actually works in my county's election office and the state has been doing this a long, long time. Most of the concerns I hear about our system are total and complete bullshit, which is why I am a little fired up about it. But I assure you that there are a lot of procedures to ensure that all ballots are correctly tracked and counted and even allows one to vote in person should you choose.

the GOP leadership hates vote-by-mail because they can't ratfuck it. Oregon's GOP voters love it because they live out in fucking nowhere. I've been watching Republican ads in Washington where the GOP candidates are saying that they'll protect vote-by-mail because it's so popular on both sides.

here's what you do in Oregon if your MAGA husband will beat you if you vote for a Democrat. You let him fill out your ballot and then you sign it and put it in the mail. Then, while he's not around, you go to the courthouse or voting office and ask that they invalidate the mail ballot and vote however you really want in a booth. He never knows. "Problem" solved.

it's not worth the cost, either the actual dollar cost to put these machines in every school gym nor the cost to those wanting to vote without standing in lines while ICE helpfully observes to ensure that no one is breaking the law by giving an old person water or a chair because they have been waiting in line for six hours.

Now having seen the simplicity of making friends with crows, I think we in the #PacificNorthwest should train our crows to come and get dog treats every time we blow our #ICE whistles, so that when something is going down the agents are unnerved by the sudden, ominous appearance of a murder of crows.

Speaking of bikes, I'm now actually enjoying commuting around by #bike and my butt is pounding my Books saddle into something comfortable. Just in time for the rainy season.
My main concerns with rainy season are these: I sweat a lot and I think wearing rain gear would leave me as wet from sweat as I would be by the rain. And I rely on glasses to see and those get covered with raindrops. I both want to see and be seen in the rain and murk of #Portland winter.

There's not enough paint in the world to paint all the dicks it would take to make NE Going street (my neighborhood East/West bike boulevard) a smooth ride. Every type of pavement imaginable was used in different stretches of it and it's all thrashed. It would be one long giant dick only visible from the air.
