Migrating #Dillo from GitHub to our self-hosted server. :blobcatcookienom:
I wrote a post about the current situation with #GitHub and how we ended up self-hosting our own infrastructure to be robust against data loss. We now store all important data (including issues) in git repositories which are replicated accross #Codeberg and #Sourcehut.

okay. Your screens seems that they are not HiDPI, or not configured as is, as they report 96 dpi.
I have a private experimental branch with FLTK 1.4 support, but there still some glitches. As it is taking me more than expected to get it done, I will probably release it under a experimental flag so you can enable it if you want to play with it and report/debug issues.

#Dillo release size over time, constrained by the size of a single #floppy disk. We still have some room left.
I suspect the big increase in 3.1.0 is mostly caused by adding a screenshot in the readme (136 KiB).

After some fixes, #Dillo also builds and runs on Solaris 10 (released in 2005 and still maintained!).

Support to open URLs using external tools just got merged. Now you can open a YouTube video directly from #Dillo.
You can add as many menu entries as you need and specify how the URL is passed to the external program in the configuration file.

It looks some CSS rule is causing the text to spill out of the viewport. I guess Dillo is using 100% of the viewport rather than the parent container.

#FLTK 1.4.0 has been released! 🥳
Among the long list of improvements, it includes proper support for High DPI displays which would improve how #Dillo renders websites across different screens.
It would take some time to port Dillo to FLTK 1.4.0, but it is worth the effort.

The upcoming #FLTK 1.4.0 release brings a lot of improvements, but it will take some effort to adapt Dillo code and solve all issues. Finally we will have DPI independent font sizes! 😎

somehow people have accepted the idea that writing software to render mostly text documents must be a gargantuan job, which only a handful of companies can do.
Rendering a small but useful subset of the HTML spec is a reasonable job for a single individual and it is not so crazy to do from scratch. You can also take a look at Gemini (not the garbage from Google).
Write simple websites that can be rendered by simple browsers. This is perhaps the hardest part.

I'm surprised I can use the #GitHub website in #Dillo to develop Dillo itself. Logging in with two factor authentication, opening issues and PR, commenting, looking at the CI logs, all seem to work without JS.

#Dillo 3.1.0 is now available in the repositories of Arch Linux, Alpine, Fedora, FreeBSD Ports, Homebrew, Majeia, Manjaro, Nixpkgs, NetBSD (pkgsrc), OpenBSD Ports, OpenMandriva and Void Linux.
Still waiting for Debian (and derived distros) to catch up.
