I converted my old pixel 6a to #grapheneos yesterday and started building a separate (from big tech) solution.

This week I'm doing something pretty major, so I'm using the Claude server (Sonnet thinking). But it's only in planning mode, and it's been wrong a dozen times in a row so far. It's still useful to have it go through the thought process on complex stuff.
I guess what I'm saying is, I still have to try big stuff locally, even with my big memory. I think on some of these bigger, more complex things, the context and token output gets so big I don't have any confidence I can run locally

If you're chasing an open Linux system, you're probably not going to be doing software development for very long.

You can definitely do full planning and agent flows if you have a hardcore setup. I have a 64 gig m2 max. Shreds mediums with a huge context (required).

Antigravity has a pretty generous and useful free tier. Use Gemini flash as much as you can, use Claude Sonnet for the thinking.
I've done all these products break down when things get really complex or unique. Still very good for most things.
Local qwen35 27b broke thru last weekend and shed light on a really tough problem. A really intelligent answer. Beat both Gemini and Claude Sonnet (opus was a disaster).
