Dynamic Prefix is a major hassle for connectivity and especially for the homelabers.
There are numerous RFC to work around the broken ISPs like the one you mentioned.
Currently there is an active discussion in the IETF WG how to solve this problem.
What I learned in this regard, only use ULA as a last resort, as this is not an RFC1918 equivalent.

Thank you for sharing this. From my POV this is what the EU Commission is trying to fix with the CRA. Manufacturers are responsible for everything they put into a product. They have to fix the sec vuln and have to upstream fixes if they use OSS

In the Netherlands, there was an uproar that SIDN, the .nl domain registry, would move certain services to #AWS. As that circulated the parliament intervened and a detailed research was done.
From my read, no EU cloud provider, neither #OVH, nor #IONOS or #HETZNER or #STACKIT is able or can compete.
Nevertheless, why do not all european based domain registries join forces?

Selbst der Wireguard Tunnel ist nicht stabil.
Dieser #LegacynetServiceProvider bietet nichtmal #IPv6 an. Betrieb von Diensten für die Familie ohne Relay Server nicht möglich.

Zwei ACLs zu managen auf jeden Device. Zweimal Addressplanung und Verwaltung.
Blöde NAT Regeln für irgendwelche Sonderfälle.
Selbst nur zu Hause ist das Arbeit, wenn man nicht nur das CPE des Providers dran hängt und sich sonst nicht um IT kümmert.

Bin komplett bei Dir, dass das ein Verständnis- und Ausbildungsthema ist. End-to-End geht halt nur mit #IPv6
Nachdem man in DE bei kleineren ISP nur noch ein #CGNAT internet bekommt ist es echt schade, dass ein Author mit einer riesen Reichweite, so etwas schreibt.

As IPv6 GUA addresses are assigned dynamically by all German ISPs, as soon as the Internet connection goes down, the #Smarthome is only functional until the end of the preferred_lifetime. ULA addressing helps a bit but brings other challenges.

Danke Thomas. EUI64 versuche ich zu vermeiden wo es nur geht. Aber Synology hat auch keine #RFC7217 Möglichkeit. Deswegen in der Regel DHCPv6 für Dienste die erreicht werden müssen.

AVM ist nicht schuld. Auch mit anderen Routern mit DHCPv6 geht es nicht. Sobald ich das SLAAC flag ausschalten bekommt das Nas keine Adresse mehr.

Ich konnte meiner Synology auch noch keine DCHPv6 Adresse beibringen (SLAAC-only) allerdings funktioniert es mit #ipv6-only super. werde aber den Tipp von Thomas probieren.
Support von Synology war wenig hilfreich.

Using SIM Plans for connectivity abroad shows, draws an interesting picture in terms of #IPv6 connectivity. My favorite #AIS Sim2Fly Sim and dataplan has #Dualstack connectivity. The really easy to use, no app, #esim from #betterroaming aka #truphone has only #IPv4 connectivity. Looking at the #ASN shows they do not have any #IPv6 prefixes at all.
