phoenixd is just the liquidty source. you can backup the keys but without the data that describes your wallet id and structure, it's not possible to restore. That's my understanding. That's why they tell you never to uninstall the phoenix mobile app if you have a problem, because that data will be lost.

I don't think there's any way to verify such a note is by a human. I.e. a bot could post a note saying it met a human or even another bot. Some form of PoW is required, e.g. requiring a micropayment to post a note or register for a relay.

The pressure needs to be put on the large public miners to set an example. I think this is the most effective way, and the best way to do this is not via nostr, but via twitter and news sites where the readership and engagement is still much larger. Marathon copped a lot of flak on Twitter when they began mining only OFAC compliant blocks, and they quickly changed.

I have requested on multiple occasions comment from Riot Platforms and Pierre Rochard regarding their stance on mining pool centralisation but am yet to receive a response. I don't know if that's because they don't see it as an issue, or they are just trying to to protect their profits, but in my opinion it's not a good luck for a company that many look to for leadership in the industry.

I suspect the big miners may be receiving favourable treatment from pools, maybe even being overpaid at the expense of smaller miners. It may explain their reluctance to move. I have no data to back this up, only game theory.

I think what they mean is their mum won't (not can't) use it, likely because they don't understand the need. I taught my dad the need, then I taught him how to use it. It was "mined" by the ViaBTC pool, so the individual miner that mined it won't get the full reward. And due to the lack of transparency of pools that don't use stratumV2, the miners of these pools are also probably not being paid the full mining rewards they are owed.

If I was a miner I definitely would be thinking twice about mining with pools that don't use stratumV2. A lot of information about payments are hidden from the miners on regular pools, and ocean miners have actually been receiving higher payouts, particularly in high fee environments.
