Is it just me or is anyone out there with an #iPhone 12 Pro having issues with the camera app after upgrading to #iOS 26? Every time I try to open the camera just a black screen opens, no matter how long I wait it just gets stuck there and I have to do a hard reset to get it to work again. *UPDATE* after trying everything in the book, and nothing working, I took it to a professional and they confirmed my worst fear - motherboard short - they could try and solder but they also looked at the drive and it’s also fried. I’m following the Israel-Iran conflict closely, and based on the latest expert projections, WWIII isn’t likely. Russia is tied up in Ukraine and won’t step in for Iran. The ceasefire is fragile but holding, and US-brokered talks are coming up. There’s still a risk of escalation, but a global war doesn’t seem to be on the horizon.

Just finished watching “Killing them Softly” a mob film starring Brad Pitt, Ray Liotta, James Gandolfini, and Richard Jenkins. It’s an interesting film in that it utilizes the U.S. 2008 presidential race quotes to underline the economic difficulties of the country in addition to the film’s story line.

They had all these people fired up and camping out to protest the unfair system that allows the richest 1% to get richer while the rest struggle. But they didn't appoint any leaders or decide on unified demands they wanted to achieve. It was just a bunch of different people with different grievances all protesting under one big umbrella. If we want to actually move forward, we have to ditch the lazy "everyone's stupid" mentality. We need to critically examine the substantive challenges with an open mind. Only then can we start finding ways to overcome the roadblocks and create real, lasting improvements.

The Atlanta trial against him is moving forward with the same judge and DA, as both were re-elected. Some people will still vote for Trump, and I'm still trying to understand what led to his election in the first place. I've never found a satisfactory answer. I took a vacation to unplug from social media. When I returned, I learned that Trump had been convicted in New York of falsifying business records. There was a plethora of hot takes across the board about this.
His team is appealing, which starts a long legal process. However, for all intents and purposes, it appears Trump will be a convicted felon by November.

Serious question since #Threads is potentially looking into this: if they integrated into AP the ability to run ads on servers as a way to generate money to maintain said server, would you enable them? And based on your experience with other admins, do you think they would?
Background: Meta is thinking of ways to monetize the Fediverse by supporting servers running ads and supporting micro-transactions (this is speculation as of now, re: what’s Meta’s interest in the Fediverse?)
