I don't know who does or doesn't listen to the show anymore but today I went to catch up amd heard an unfamiliar voice in the opening only to learn that John is out for a bit due to some heart trouble. He had a heart attack at the hospital amd then a double bypass. I know hes not here anymore but I pray he recovers well and quickly! In the mean time, I am FASCINATED by listening to Mimi's thoughts and perspectives.

I am always trying to get better at whatever I am doing and replications of original art make that happen. This is the closest I have ever gotten and I am proud of it!! Certainly not perfect but better than past replications. I have 7 more to put together and paint in the next three weeks before they head to their home in CA.

Ok...so in inspecting my wood stove today and getting ready to really clean this sucker, I thought I'd put this here and ask...why is there a gap between the top of the stove and the top of the chimney??? Question for those who have lost someome close to them....I have a friend who is a widow of almost 2 years. She also lost her mom this summer. She is going through a depressive state right now. My question...are my repeated invites to her annoying and unwanted? She wont accept any help or meals or anything. I dont want to pester her or abandon her. Any advice is welcome. I havent lost people the way she has.

I struggle so much with the vaccine thing. We did core vaccines and rabies on our first dog. No issues as of yet but there's always a risk. It's like russian roulette. I struggle because there's so much info either way. It sucks being someone who can see all sides.

Totally. We have one standard already and he's been such a great dog. A little too much when people come through the door but we are working on it. This one kind of fell into our lap and we bought her out of a bad situation on a whim, but I am glad we did it. She will be beautiful and a great addition. Now just have to pay for all the puppy vaxs...the owner before us didn't do any care for the girl so she is behind on her core vaccines (thats all we do).

Her 1st 24 hours have been good! She's a smart girl who gets going potty outside and has settled into the potty, play, nap time routine very well. Her big brother is teaching her how to be a dog and tolerates her most of the time. 😂

all over the body. Like....everywhere. I thought about the same thijg, the moisturizers and sunscreen etc but these are giant welts. Her brother had the same thing a few weeks ago and we didnt connect the two because there was about a week in between her breaking out and him finishing his antibiotic. Hers started on her face (thus we thought a teen breakout) and then she went away to a youth retreat and didnt shower bc she didnt like the bathhouse 😵‍💫🤮🤦‍♀️ and came home with it all over. 😞😞

My kids have been gone at a youth retreat all weekend. I hope they are having an awesome time. Is it wrong to say I needed time away from them too? Absence makes you realize what you have and how much you love your kids, but it also gives a real opportunity to determine what things need to change for the betterment of the whole family. Also, my house is like REALLY clean and it has been for a whole day..which is unheard of right now.🤪🤣

I have always found it interesting and quite frankly it requires the least amount of schooling at this point in my life. It also has a degree of autonomy to it...when doing it, its you and the patient for the most part. Yes you have the doc or radiologist but theres a kind of built in autonomy that I like.

Signs of a midlife crisis or reckoning...you choose. I have always wanted to be a medical sonographer. I find the human body fascinating. I mentioned it to my husband and he is already looking up programs for me and fully supports me going to school if I want to. Also (see previous post) when I started homeschooling my kids I was TERRIFIED I would mess them up and they'd never learn to read or spell but my daughter's notes are proof that in time and with consistency all kids learn. Shes still not perfect but what a joy that learning is life-long! So if you're in the homeschooling trenches with littles, keep going. They are learning and you are doing a great job!

My daughter is almost 13 and there are days that raising her and her brother are just plain hard. They are both in middle school and theres a LOT of change. But then there are moments like this where my daughter brings me a poem of sorts that shes written and makes me bawl like a baby after a very long day. Its not always easy but they're God's best gift.

Lets normalize hiking as high/far as you want then turning around. Today my husband wanted to go hiking up summit trail at Elk Knob. I have come to learn my love in life is not hiking but building. Also my husband is in way better shape than me so I am slow. So I shooed them off and hiked about a mile then turned around and came back. I decided while hiking that I am going to rebuild my deck myself. So the hike was good for that.

Oh, the stories I could tell from last year 😂 the leader of our co-op asked our kids to fundraise in order to cover her 200k tax debt because she hadn't paid payroll taxes for several years. 🙄
Beyond that, my son hated being in a classroom and being forced to go at everyone elses pace. My daughter got annoyed that others didnt take learning serious. Those kids KNEW their parents couldn't handle them and the admins didn't hold anyone responsible.

Last year my kids participated in a hybrid co-op program that was basically a small, 3 day per week school. There were some things we liked but a lot that didn't work for my kids.
This year we decided to come back home, incorporate some more activities and harder curriculum and just be together to learn. Last year their personalities changed and their light was different. Recently, they've returned to normal.. PTL...The older they get the more grateful I am we have chosen to homeschool.

So my kid has an old amazon fire tablet she would like to make into an e-reader. All I want her having is hoopla and library apps but it comes preinstalled with a lot of amazon apps. While I have turned on the password protect for EVERYTHING, kids are smart and while she is a good kid, I am not naieve enough to think she couldn't figure it out if she wants to do her own thing. Is there a way to uninstall the prefabed apps on this and not have to send this off somewhere?

Probably one of the most encouraging books I have read on education. Largely bc of where my mind is at now as I watch my kids go through a university model homeschool co-op that is modeled after traditional school. The education system in this country is broken. Broken so that even in homeschooling I am rethinking the k-12 thing and what actually fits my kids. Its like coming out of a rushing river, drenched onshore and not sure where to walk but you know you aren't going back in the water.

Working at a local book/coffee shop and can't help overhearing another table. One of the women is an editor. She said she has edited two books this week that are AI. She said the new thing is for authors to submit detailed outlines to AI and it spits back a book then the author goes over it enough to make it human. She is now having to use extra tools to make sure material is original.

Parentng pre teens is just heart breaking. My daughter messed up on an audition tonight. She worked really hard. She was as diligent as she could be and she missed a detail so it threw her. She burst in to tears as soon as she got into the car. I can't fix it. I won't go talking to her directors or try to offer excuses but gosh it hurts to see your kid upset. And yes, I realize that this is VERY much a first world problem. Giving them room to figure things out and be disappointed is just blah!

So my kids co-op is part of a larger co-op organization with 2 other locations. After some massive financial drama, our co-op is splitting off and now has to set itself up financially to run healthily and they would like to do it without being a 501c3. Any suggestions? I have some knowledge of being in an INC and hiw that works but would be open to suggestions. Its desired that the whole school not be in one person's name.

Remember that friend I wrote about that was recently widowed?? Today presented itself an opportunity. Her daughter and mine were at a crafting day at a friend's house and I picked up both girls and we are now all at the movies. It makes me happy to see her happy. Sweetest of all is outside the theater there is a memorial brick for her dad. We got to talk about some happy memories of him. Ironically, it was just this morning I prayed to see opportunities just like this and live them.

It's finally show time tomorrow morning! Tonight's last rehearsal was actually enjoyable to watch. They weren't perfect but by golly, the kids I teach can tell a story and its such a sweet show with a great message.
Trying to direct and do costumes this week has been hard (it always is) but their sweet little squeals of excitement and their pride in themselves and what they have accomplished makes the work worth it. ❤️

Random thought/observation of the day: The hardest part of moving my kids from true homeschooling (with me as the only teacher) to a three day per week co-op is their sense of accountability. No longer is there just me telling them to correct something because it is wrong, they now have other instructors to whom they must be accountable. While its been a challenge, its also been good for them. It has enhanced their work ethic and integrity.

my point is, I think the wheels are in motion for them to try. While yes, a zpack is an easy fix, who is the maker of zpack? Any chance of them running out? I am sure symptoms will vary but diet around this time of year isnt great as it revolves around food and sugar. Its just a recipe for bad things. And the fact that they are calling about vax status...maybe I am just paranoid.

I was kind but firmly truthful. Also, mycoplasma pnuemonia is spreading like wildfire amongst kids right now and its BRUTAL. FYI....pnuemonia is exacerbated by inflammation. Know what causes inflammation? SUGAR. what holiday is tomorrow? A sugar holiday. Say no. Do the switch witch but di jot let your kids consume this crap. This will be the pandemic this winter. So the CDC just called wanting infor on my kids vaccination status and whether they were updated or not. I asked several questions and learned the woman cant tell me who was conducting the study but that results would go to the CDC and be used to help bring more resources to kids for their health. I dont want your resources or help raising my kids. You have a lack of reporting because people are choosing not to vaccinate because they arent about health but about lining big pharma's pockets.

So today I learned that in NC if someone doesnt pay their tax bill and is delinquent, I can go to the county office, pay it for them and now I own their land because I paid their tax bill. So...those people in the mountains that lost everything and are being denied anything from FEMA or the SBA? Their land will get bought up by some rando person or company. Eminent domain? You know...something I have heard from students lately is 'I don't want so and so to be mad at me for not getting this right' (usually refering to something learning related.) Its really SAD to me that a learning environment has been created that is so harsh that kids worry more about who will be mad at them if they get the answer wrong or if they struggle than about truly learning the material and finding joy in learning.

Today, it was other people's good news that made me happy. My adult voice student found out her breast cancer shwed no signs of spread and no lymphatic uptake. One of my kids was proud of a peacock bc she practiced and couldn't wait to show me. And one swooned over a new song declaring her love for it because it was named 'water colors' and sounded as such. It was a good day!

Totally creeped out...last night I fell asleep hard at 9:30 or so. Apparently, at 10:42 I sent this text to my husband. To my knowledge I don't sleep walk or anything of the sort and I don't think I was out of my bed? The brain and body are weird!

Whispering so the machine doesn't hear me! I figured out the first layer heat bed thing and changed some settings before I exported from the slicer. That seems to be the issue.....
