Forgotten #simplisity . one of my colleagues long time ago show me #forth . It was stack based language with #factorisation principle. With every word you program gets better and better and execution mechanisms was super simple but powerful. You get compiler , interpreter and os in one shot. #forth really help to develop complex systems . In a few years I fail in love with #lisp . It was more complex but as same as #forth was build around simple but single data structure - list . #lisp was homophonic language that was self aware and capable to change itself. You still could find a quote from Allan key about most butifful program - lisp interpreter in lisp. #smalltalk was another language that fight for simplicity that cover what lisp was not able to do . Simple objects that send messages and turn your software to a soft internet. #self lift this idea even more to extreamly simple model with out class/objects separation. Smalltalk and self was not homoiconic but it was full reflective . According to a many researches smalltalk has the lowest cognitive load and the highest #DX in ide. Last simplicity guru - #prolog - based on idea of horn clause and first order logic. You have terms and few logical operation together with homoiconisity and ability to write meta interpreters. It is just blow my minds. In modern world we still widely use #datalog as simpler and limited data oriented language. Lisp , prolog was designed for #ai and reasoning . Verifiable credentials is not the end of the story and #ssi is not self contained goal. SSI is a philosophy and principles. SSI tools like did , vc , vp , trust tasks - all this is enablers and instruments for something biggerand cool . Don’t sell #ssi as a end product. I have seen this story for few years . I was a part of this story for long time . Not all information should be vcfied , probably majority or user and sovereign data is not strictly about VCs but user for sure will need a systems that build on top of #SSI , #FAIR and data centric #protocols that will pool out users from apps prisons.

What #verifier actually verifie in verifiable credential and what’s could go wrong ? If we talk about classical json-ld vc:
- validity of a context and corresponding data . It is a point of few big performance and security issues in case your json-ld context represented as external link . Could enforce recursive http calls
- signature of issuer : give a data integrity and authenticity of data. Often depends on did resolution that relay on external did registry . In case of blockchain based did resolution could be slow
- cryptographical suite should be supported by verifier . As same as a key formats .
- in case of revocable credential one more dependency for revacation list credential and possibly on revacation list resolution. Also it is few revocation list and revocation status implementation
- expiration date of VC . General topic of handling time stamps .
- optionally json schema could be a part of VC but often ignored so it is application responsibility .
What is not verifiable :
- ownership of presented VC or any kind of holder correlation even if holder section is present . VP partially solve this challenge but general problem of binding is open .
- validity of a data
- validity of data capturing
- any kind of chains of trust and trust related topics .
So most important parts are subject of trust relation to issuer and data capturing protocols and procedures that regulated by trust frameworks and trust registries some of them require policy and legal frameworks .
Summary : trust is not verifiable!
Verification could relay on centralized systems that represent schema and revocation registries as same as decentralized did registries . So it is not so autonomous as majority users think .
