Neonatal circumcision (NNC) is the most frequently performed surgical procedure worldwide and is generally considered safe in Western societies. Deaths attributed to NNC are seldom reported and are mostly explained by lack of adherence to medical standards. We reviewed our emergency department database for circumcision-related emergency admissions. During 2000-2013, 19 previously healthy neonates were admitted for acute complications after circumcision. Four were admitted for bleeding, with hemophilia identified in two cases and von Willebrand disease in one. Eight boys required emergency surgery, three for severe bleeding. Four boys with amputation of the glans underwent immediate surgical reconstruction. One infant was taken to the operating room to remove an obstructing Plastibell ring. Seven boys were admitted to the intensive care unit with severe bleeding or sepsis, three of whom ultimately progressed to hemorrhagic or septic shock. Two of these children died of their complications. We estimate that the annual incidence of severe complications requiring hospitalization after NNC in the Greater Toronto Area was approximately 0.01%, and the incidence of fatalities over the 14-yr review period was approximately 0.0012%. Our results indicate that the risk of serious complications and death as a result of NNC is greater than generally assumed.

Ahhh, the Uneducated Socialist. You know the type: espousing socialist fielty and at the same time finding the most creative ways to say "I have no idea of the core tenants of socialism" (eg. Recommending anti-depressants, SSRIs being a poster-child of late-stage crony capitalism). This reply was to someone contemplating suicide... nothing would drive me over the edge more than a double digit IQ reply such as the one displayed.
It's the uneducated socialists that keep promoting it, while the educated ones remain in academia because they have made themselves chronically unemployable or need to devote their careers to fixing the cluster-fuck that modern socialism has become and pump more of the ideology into their students.

Seems smarter than having radioactive waste dumps that need to be stored for thousands to millions of years depending on the isotope. That alone seems to make clean coal the more logical conclusion, but I don't know enough to really make a scientifically and economically backed statement.

**Book Review: American Kingpin by Nick Bilton (2017)**
1 Star out of 5 ⭐️
This book, although written at a acceasible level, is poorly researched and quite biased.
The author glosses over the unlawful actions by DEA, DoJ, IRS, and other 3LA agents, and the farce of the trial. He does not adequately address (if at all) the prospect that there are multiple Dread Pirate Robert admins, with multiple witnesses stating such.
He does not address that the The FBI has consistently maintained that it was "able to locate the Silk Road servers through a misconfiguration of the site's login interface, which inadvertently revealed the server's IP address." However, some computer science experts and defense attorneys have raised doubts about this explanation, suggesting that the FBI or an assisting agency like the NSA might have used other methods, such as monitoring internet ports or scanning the entire internet for SSL servers. I find this to be a very dire omission, one that ignores the serious implications for US Citizens.
The heavy handed judgement handed down to Ross lacked any critique. Here was a kid who made a website, who made the mistake of having what I would call a Good Idea, which required a small handful of dropkick federal employees who themselves were charged, most notably Agent Carl Force (aka Nob), who was charged and sentenced for extortion, money laundering, and obstruction of justice related to his role in the Silk Road investigation. For this Good Idea (which can be debated lowers street violence and proves The War on Drugs unwinnable) Ross was given a double life sentence plus 40 years. The DoD used the United States Marine Corp to invade Panama in order to to arrest Noriega who was subsequently sentenced to 20 years (17 years for good behavioir). This imbalance of justice seemed to not cross author Nick Biltons mind, along with many other things such as an interview with Lyn Ulbricht.
I would not recommend this book to anyone, unless you were to approach it in a fictional manner. There is no unique and true information that cannot be found elsewhere for free such as news articles and witness statements. Instead, I would recommend the documentary "Deep Web" by Alex Winter and narrated by Keanu Reeves (yes, Bill & Ted) and to follow Ross on the platform you prefer now that he is free. Watch his talk at the Bitcoin 2025 conference, and hopefully, and eventual book(s) by Ross himself. Do anything beside read this book.
Read other reviews below to see the plethora of information the author did not include, adding to the reason why this should be reshelved from True Crime to Fiction (Young Adult section).

One of the most underrated creators on Nostr in my not-so-humble opinion. I think the lack of warranted exposure is due to his preference for text to convey a message, and when memes are used they are creative, original, and relevant. He should have been born earlier but might have missed out on bitcoin.

@nprofile…zp8n has 128 unique reports of spam. The only relay that I can see hosting their notes is damus.io which does not have NIP-56. I didn't understand why it wasn't implemented by Damus until I read the Github reply by @nprofile…xuyp

This is a bad idea that overcomplicates the process entirely. One can solve this by just querying replies from approved relays, and doing the approval process in the context of each relay. One can also write some reply-approval software that reads replies from public relays and publishes the approved ones to a restricted relays, but then in the comments section people only read from the restricted relays. The possibilities are endless, and the worst one is asking all clients to calculate some state out of a stream of infinite events on every click.

There's some good DIY projects, depending how involved you want to get. Base a system on Home Assistant or OpenHAB. Combine with one of the following:
MotionEye: an open-source surveillance system that turns your camera(s) into a motion-detecting security system. You can set it up on a Raspberry Pi or other hardware. Features: Motion detection, video recording, and remote access to camera feeds.
ZoneMinder: a full-featured open-source video surveillance system that supports IP cameras and can be configured to act like a doorbell system. Features: Live monitoring, motion detection, and recording capabilities.
(Have only listed FOSS projects, although others like Blue Iris may be of use.)
