I'm watching 'Harry Potter'. People slag Jk off for alleged plagiarism. I don't see that but I recognise her influences. I am 5 years younger than her but probably read the same books. The Lord of the rings, Elidor, The Owl Service, The Dark is Rising, The Wizard of Earthsea.. All brilliant children's books. I don't believe such books exist now for kids

'Watership Down' is one of my favourite films. I read the book aged 8 and saw the film at 11. To this day I still absolutely love it. The voice acting, watercolour landscapes, the fantastic musical score. I've just found out that the score was composed by Angela formerly Wally, a trans woman!!! OMG, that's ruined it for me. Of course I'm not being serious, I expect Angela was just getting on with their life, composing and performing music and not abusing women online or pissing on Suffragette statues in London. I STILL love 'Watership Down'.......

OOh all of that stuff sounds great, I make EXCELLENT curries, been to India twice and I can even make my own sev and Bombay mix. I love food. I'm just out of menopause now and getting hot and fat, I work in a plastics factory and it's HELL in there at the moment, normally I knock about in a loose maxi dress and sandals like an old hippy. LOL. I make absolutely wicked gazpacho, and thankfully apart from being roasting hot all the time, I don't think I have any allergies. I love avocado but apparently the ecological cost is high, that's another story. Mennonite borscht sounds good, I must google it. I love trying new things, I saw a docu on street food and made Mrs Linda's "old sober" (did it vege though" It was great!!!), I can't wait to try the little Ukrainian and Russian dumplings. My Polish colleagues say they eat them as well!

I just googled varenyky, I absolutely love cooking, especially new things from different places. I'm going to attempt some at the weekend, they'll probably go horribly wrong but I found recipes and must try it out

Up there you would all be Viking types surely? I have a theory that those on Orkney have that distinctive Orcadian chin cos they're all Norse stock, the skeletons of women from back then are much more heavyset than most women now ( I do appreciate that you're from Uist and not Orkney but it probably still applies) I also read that the Viking stereotype of blonde etc is not necessarily true
