If a user subscribes to Premium in the Fountain app, does the App Store take 30% each month as an in app purchase fee? The temporary solution until we reach a. bitcoin standard is to educate customers to use a service like @nprofile…gfu7' @nprofile…9kjp where the customer pays dollars from their cash account and the business receives Bitcoin. Then it doesn’t matter the Bitcoin price is up, down, or sideways because they’re spending fiat anyway. Yes, customers need to KYC with Strike, but if they’re Bitcoiners, they’re likely DCAing on an exchange, so they’re already KYCed.

Seriously? We have a Bitcoiner who is willing to step further into self sovereignty by running his own Bitcoin node and there are still people in the weeds arguing Core vs. Knots. Both stacks have their advantages and disadvantages. He should run whatever he wants to get started. JUST GET STARTED! It’s more important that he runs a node than that he’s on a particular team. It’s super easy to switch from one to the other, if you decide to down the road. I ran Core for years on my Start9 but @npub1wnl…n3wr helped me switch to Knots when I switched my Heat Punk mining setup to use DATUM and Ocean.

Strike is awesome, too! I used to use Wallet of Satoshi back before they pulled out of the US market. The Start9 and AlbyHub suggestion is a fairly easy way to setup non-custodial wallet.
In addition to using it as a custodial Lightning wallet, I especially like the ability in Strike to spend from cash balance and have the recipient receive Bitcoin. You get to convert wealth from fiat into BTC, and since you’re spending USDs there isn’t a taxable event.

There are LOTS of ways to roll your own, depending on budget. I like the team at @npub126n…e9ll, so instead of loading their open source StartOS onto an old laptop, I bought one of their servers to support the company. Buying a plug and play server isn’t as cheap as using an old laptop, but they are VERY turnkey, and as a bonus I’m supporting a company with freedomtech principles. Take a look at their store: https://store.start9.com .Then head over to @npub1rxy…hnp8's YouTube channel for tutorials on setting up your Start9 and installing services. Trust me, if you can install apps on your phone, you can install services on your server. Watch his videos; they’re EXCEPTIONAL for the freedomtech curious.
You’ll likely want to install Bitcoin Knots ( @npub1wnl…n3wr lists lots of reasons to use Bitcoin Knots over Bitcoin Core), electrs, LND, and AlbyHub to be able to use a noncustodial Lightning wallet. But you’ll probably also install many other services to self host your own password manager and a cloud backup for your phone, computers, and devices.

It still surprises me how many Nostriches, who have lightning wallets connected to their npub, only use the like button and don’t even set a nominal token zap of like 21 sats to use instead of likes. I get using likes if they haven’t figured out how to connect a lightning wallet, but c’mon, join the zapconomy!
