Professional writers had a similar reaction when people started blogging 30 years ago.
The people gathered around the notebook in your office weren’t doing what you do, but they were expressing themselves, and thus were creating music.
You don’t like this for some reason which you didn’t explain very clearly, imho.

it's a fact we have to deal with and never forget that there may not be enough swing state voters to elect a woman president yet. that's why it might have been safer to keep joe biden in his dotage as the democratic nominee, something that the idiots at the nytimes and elsewhere probably didn't consider when they decided he couldn't run. but now it is what it is. can't say they're wrong because everyone gets to vote on whatever basis they want.

But it's an impression.

That's how marketing works.

Journalism is very important part of how our country works yet there is no accountability, no checks and balances, no requirement of transparency. There isn’t even a mechanism to disagree with them. most of the time they have the only voice. We don’t even know what they’re trying to do, what their goals are.

i had a similar idea.
make this the campaign of the cabinet, governors and congress.
let all the great next generation democrats shine.
big stadium events where a few of them share the stage.
joe biden dials in via satellite.
"listen, I'm an old dude, so I need my rest but look at all these bright young people who help me do the business of the american people. aren't they wonderful!"
and one of the juniors is hanging out with him so you know they have his back.

You can copy it and host it anywhere you like, but you can't change it, because it is frozen.

this is such an important area.
we should do one of those for blogs and feed readers.
i've done a couple of podcasts about this recently about the experience with RSS and how that's why Twitter won.

I've started a FAQ for why we should vote for Biden in November. I keep wanting someone to make this list, so finally I got off my butt and did it myself.
I would have liked to have been looking at this list last night at the debate, to remind myself that even if the President had trouble explaining it in words, there were still very good reasons to support and vote for him.

Ghost is moving in a good direction for writers. That's a huge vastly underserved market.
I plan to release a writer's editor for WordPress not too far down the road.
It will serve as a platform for these kinds of features.

Jon Stewart said something interesting — and imho correct, that news is about the past.
When they start covering things that haven’t happened, that’s no longer news.
He said news should be like jury duty. Being rigorous and decisive.
That makes total sense, and gives a pretty good idea of how far off course we are.

More and more I see comments, unless explicitly asked for, as spam that I'd disable if I could.
On Facebook, I've often limited comments to friends, who don't tend to spam, presumably because we like to stay on good terms, and spam is an imposition.
And I think most of the energy in social networks these days goes into keeping the garbage out of replies, and if we gave stronger tools to originators, there would be less work for the platform to do, and overall happier people.

I often agree with you but not this time. You’re doing what the journalists do, fail to define your terms, and assume the reader agrees that words like ingest mean something bad or unethical has happened. But you haven’t explained why.
Isn’t “ingest” the same as “read”? If I read a book am I not allowed to use what I read?
Perhaps not if I publish the exact words the author used, but that isn’t what’s happening.

they do have a feed btw, so you could meet them half-way by supporting RSS as an equal with ActivityPub.
there's lots of good stuff out there that's available in feeds that hasn't made it to AP yet.
btw, i am able to follow you in my feed reader, bc as you know Masto supports outbound RSS.
maybe you and i should work together to bring the two worlds together?
