I do carefully plan A LOT of my activities, but "all/any" is so silly. It doesn't just ignore ADHD. It ignores the fact that people don't always act the same way in every situation.
It's so weird to put things in such absolute ways.
But the people writing diagnostic questions for autism don't consider that the person answering them might be obsessed with nuance & accuracy, which seems like a failing.

You're not supposed to worry about "other people's kids" (otherwise known as human beings with their own rights).
At BEST you're only supposed to worry about your kids, but even then, you're supposed to worry about competing for things, not their fucking well-being as individuals.

I have no idea how many hours of my life I have spent explaining to people that I didn't say the thing that they are saying that I did, but it's fucking stressful as hell.
Among other things, people seem to think all words with an overlapping semantic range are interchangeable, so you'll choose to use one that is specific to what you mean & then they substitute a different word with significantly different connotations & don't even seem to notice.

If someone is "fiscally conservative", then ultimately they are saying we should all have to fight over resources, & in order to keep people fighting over resources, you have to keep prejudice, fear, & resentment alive, so... seems to me like being "fiscally conservative" means there is a need for people to abuse each other.

Look, I have done a lot of childcare in my life. I understand that children CANNOT be allowed to do whatever they please. I don't want feral, untended children, but I do want kids who feel a sense of ownership over their own bodies & lives.

My challenge to all of us (self included) is not to accept the framing "x resulted in y in the past, therefore if x happens in the present, y will result."
This applies whether we're talking about countering fascist activity or doing things of our own: everything happens in context. The "same" thing can happen over & over & over, but the context changes every time.
You have to ask yourself "what could be different this time? What would have to happen to result in a different outcome?"

Study the tactics & think about how we can do things differently the next time the fash try to pull off a specific type of manipulation. We don't have to keep falling for the same things. We don't have to allow the same scenarios to play out. Look for the opportunities to respond differently.
People are not all the same, & that's true of the "same" person over time as much as it is true of different individuals.

A guy in my spouse's gaming group decided to generate an AI image of a fun moment that happened in their game (already aware that at least one person was not comfortable with AI image generation), & I think the response spouse has landed on is to treat it as a trust/consent/mutual connection issue.
That is, "the fun stuff we do together is not fodder for AI. Please respect that some people don't want to involve giant corporations & their machines in something that is just between us humans."

It's hard to figure out what to do with abusive people's lies.
Sometimes exposing them as lies serves a purpose. I've been in situations where being a determined, extremely pedantic truth-seeker allowed me to expose an abuser's false pretense of innocence.
This doesn't really apply when the falsehood is out in the open, when anyone who cared to think about it could tell it's a lie. Then you are dealing with something else, something perhaps more insidious.

Maybe people could enjoy their own personal objects WITHOUT us having to allow some people to hoard resources. Maybe those two things really aren't the same type of thing. Maybe the fact we call them both "property" obscures their differences.
We can share the resources in common for the common good AND you can have your very own teddy bear that is just yours. I promise.

When you get taught about scary, scary communism as a kid, they make it sound as though it means you couldn't even own your teddy bear.
No one explains (likely because they themselves believed the same when they were taught) the difference between your teddy bear & a factory.

Ok, yes, when I look at climate change news, I think existing structures of government are going to need to collapse soon, because it's been proven at least in this country, that they will never do enough to address the crisis hurtling towards us.
Stretching out the "stability" only will lead to far worse instability later.
We need a climate revolution.

So they verbally give some instructions (but do not include key information) & they punish us for not matching expectations (even ones they didn't deign to clearly communicate), but they still refuse to clarify.
So yeah, we get socialized, alright, it's just frequently in the weirdest, most confusing, & most traumatizing way possible.

Typically a lot of this stuff involves status & hierarchy. I don't know if autistic people just generally tend to care less for hierarchy or if it's simply because hierarchy & status cues tend to be communicated non-verbally (often it would seem because they are recognizably ridiculous if consciously acknowledged).
Either way though...that stuff tends to feel weird & mysterious. You know, the stuff that people not only DON'T say, but clearly don't even know how to put into words.

But the message is garbled. Or it's like we only get half of it. Then we have to go out into the world, trying to behave "right", trying not to be punished for difference, while missing "the rest" of the instructions, the stuff that to us appears to be secret & hidden.

Autistic folks don't tend to understand or follow instructions the same way as allistics, so of course that's the same with the social instruction we receive.
We still receive that instruction. We get punished harshly every time we get it "wrong", & we will get it wrong a lot, so yeah, the message is coming to us.

I think this is a topic I'm going to reflect on more, because ND folks theoretically experience "the same" things as our NT peers, but when you don't interpret, respond to, or integrate things in the same manner which NT folks tend to, the way "the same" experience shapes you may be very, very different.

Yep. I see now that it has controlled every single aspect of my life. For the longest time, the mandate to be "kind" overruled even my most basic instincts. It was just be sweet, be kind, & ask for nothing for yourself.

Also, you really can't assume how they map onto everyone, but I just wanted to say that goes triple for trans folks.
It's amazing how ubiquitous the patriarchy has made gendered expectations & experiences, but your life is yours. Your experiences are yours. We notice patterns & tendencies & notice what is or isn't pushed on us, but there are no standard experiences.

Ableism complicates this specific topic because honestly y'all...ND people of all genders are all so fucking traumatized.
Accepting I'm not only ADHD but autistic gave me even deeper appreciation of that than ever.
There is special trauma of being an autistic woman. There is also special trauma of being an autistic man. And then of course non-binary autistic folks get their own special hell too.
My fellow neurospicies: we've suffered a lot. That is real & it fucking sucks.

Also, although I have come to believe it doesn't differ as much from mainstream as much as one might think (because misogyny is culturally engrained in every area of life), my experience with "female socialization" was literally within extreme religious patriarchy.
That doesn't change that we also had "mean girls". Women are socialized to be caretakers & sweet & deferential but there are lots of secret exceptions which reinforce other social inequalities.

Even in my family as mentioned, my little brother is also autistic, but his behavior is significantly different. There are no universal experiences.

I have had so many ND men develop intense attachment to me that felt very uncomfortable, because they just weren't used to receiving the same consideration as others, because their difference marks them out for not being worthy of it, & meanwhile here's me trying extra hard to be nice to them because I can see that no one else is. Mixed signals happen, & admittedly I do kind of resent other women for that, because like...if you're being kind, just be kind to everyone.
