I know there isn't much conversation about Fedi on NOSTR but I just ran a test transaction between my cashapp and a random fedi community wallet and it worked even though 1 of the 4 guardians were down.
I like the fact that ecash can be sent even without internet and a federated mint can be made resilient by having guardians run different set ups to ensure uptime.
Now with the new randomized guardian collection mechanism that Fedi implemented you can imagine a switch board like mechanism being used to ensure maximum uptime.
My question is, couldnt we do something similar with NOSTR. Just make it like one giant fedimint community. I mean thats kind of what it is already right?
What are the technical requirements to meet with this framework?

All my self hosted stuff used Cloudflare tunnels. So long as I'm in my own LAN I don't need it but I should plan to put in a failsafe in case this starts happening more frequently.

Ancient times: writing was for the elites, the average person had to compress complex ideas into poems and songs. Often the true data would never be unzipped once compressed as poems and songs became epics and myths. The line of reality blurred
Early industrial: writing en masses was still reserved for the elites or those who were granted access to the printing press via elite gate keepers.
The average person relied on pen and paper. Paper decays. Ideas with a lifespan.

If AI is trained on a collection of all the content that has been posted to the internet wouldn't it be fair that we, the content creators got a cut of what ever revenue is generated from it? Why instead do be pay for it?
They are farming our data and spitting it back to us in a quick control F of our human knowledge. At least that's what they want to think. The moment people only use the internet for simple transactions and no content expression AI will only serve as a highly efficient transaction recognizer and organizer.

Once the word gets out that this network always zaps instead of likes people's curiosity will get the better of them.
When they get here the content should be so quality driven that it would seem truly foolish to use any other platform. (Ps i know nostr is more than a social media platform.)

When you come to think of it, finances should be taught as a primary requirement to graduate Highschool yet it isnt. We teach a world of other things because society "wants you to succeed" yet success in this world is tethered to the idea of wealth, so why isnt it taught?
Well... If it was taught people would eventually ask the question. What is money exactly? And Where does our money really come from, what does it actually represent?
Once those questions are asked people would simply wake up and decide against it..

My only question is why long term holders would think to sell at all? My reasoning is if they are long term holders then they must have been exposed to the ethics and culture that underlies bitcoin.
They experienced the upward benefits over the long term so outright selling for the sake of selling would not be rational. Perhaps they are using their money, sure, but for what do you use millions and in some cases billions of dollars?
I can only justify it with the purchasing of stocks so the liquidity is rotating into stocks. The question remains though, why take money out to put into an asset that grows at a lower rate of return?
In addition, now its easier to get a loan on your bitcoin than ever before. So what's the deal?

I think there's a portion of the mind that has gotten used to being the product and thus getting content for free on other platforms. The algorithm game has trained us well to use likes and shares but there is nothing like going direct to the source and giving value where values worth. The content here should be creme de la creme because of the ability to skip the need for sponsors, skip the need to develop a huge following.

My brother works in big tech and everytime I bring up nostr he mentions that its ridiculous that people are building something for no compensation.
He always says, we'll whats in it for them to try and build something great that will only be copied by the next guy. Its a shame because he is a very talented software engineer. In fact its funny because his political Philosophy is very liberal and borderline socialist yet he can't grasp the concept of nostr.
Not to say nostr is socialist, rather that him being of a socialist political bent is wrapped up in a techno capitalist monopoly style mind set when it comes to software.

Most people I know cant go through a day of work without using AI. I know I cant.
Not because I physically or mentally cant, the world just feels slower when I dont use it. It feels like Im using antiquated tech if I dont.
The problem I see is, I use it to bounce Ideas off the LLM and refine my thoughts. I once had to let ideas sit until I could meet with a friend long enough to really bounce the ideas off them. Extrapolate that out to everyone doing it that way and what might happen to human conversation and relationships.
Will we begin to feel like having a conversation with another human being is just too slow? Or not informed enough to carry the conversation in a meaningful way?

Not sure who mentioned it yesterday but with large miners focusing their rigs toward AI, this may be the move that serves to naturally decentralize a bit more the mining side of Bitcoin.
I can imagine after a couple more halfings it wont make economic sense to have a large corporate approach to mining and a mining app on your phone will be enough to run a mining node literally on any phone that wants to.
Is that a feasible future or naw?

If you’re expecting to find the security and comfort of “getting hired,” the future might feel bleak.
But if you shift your perspective toward the skills you bring — and the willingness to offer them directly to those who need them — you’ll always have opportunity.

If you dont want it to be ..... nothing.... dont become illiterate about democracy. Its the only government your voice has weight in.
Become illiterate, look to Federal Government for help when they dont care about you. They are forming and protecting their empire.
The democracy worth fighting for, fighting the kings, and the oppressors is the government that serves your neighbor as equally as it serves you. Its the one in the city hall. The place you can actually show up in twice a week to make your self seen and make yourself heard.
The further a person you chose to represent you has to travel to represent you, the less in common you'll have.
How far is the Federation of states? How far is the republic?
The kings will snatch away your freedom, claiming to be a representative but seeking an empire with their buddies.
Stick with the government that exists to serve you not the other way around.

If people saw it like getting acquiring their fiat currency they would realize its benefits. I've been 100% bitcoin for almost a year and its crazy to see my purchasing power fluctuate, though this year its never lost any purchasing power only gained.
I mean if you save in bitcoin and use it when you need to, you'll inevitably feel the benefits. That is unless you are living paycheck to paycheck. Thats a whole other situation you have to work on.

I think ecash is probably the best scaling solution we have for bitcoin as it currently stands. While there are some interesting solutions being proposed, most if not all of these other solutions require a dramatic hard fork to the bitcoin network that I dont think are worth the risk.
I know cashu has been a hit, but I think fedimints are going to win out in the end. Its easier to place trust in an organization that in a single person. Especially if it goes the intended route of fedi where families and small communities run the fedimints. This plus bitchat could bring bitcoin finance mainstream.

Self hosting (home lab) rabit hole ruminations:
Start9, umbrel, these are great options to dip your toes into self hosting. It makes the experience digestible and if you are only interested in running the tools that the bitcoin community has labeled as necessary to be "self-soveriegn" it works out of the box and that has a world of value in of it self.
But if your are curious one. Seeking knowledge and always looking to break the next link in the long shackle that holds you from sovereignty, these options are simply not enough.
If you want to run any open source program or os when your heart desires you need access to docker. In many cases you can easily download production ready software with a two line command you can copy paste...
While start9 and umbrel have great teams working hard to bring what the people want to their systems they need sidelined options to everything and are always a few versions behind. This is the nature of the beast unfortunately.
But in this ever changing world where some of the most important tools like ai have open-source options that can't fully be utilized with what these guys offer Its more important than ever to truly understand what you are trying to achieve with these systems.
Running a bitcoin node can be done on almost anything, having your own private chat server is a nice party trick, but some of the truely powerful self hosted solutions aren't native to these ecosystems.
Im open to hear everyone's opinions but I feel I've way too quickly put grown my start 9. I may just wipe it and set a new Ubuntu or other linux image on the hardware.
Anyone else go through something similar?

A few YouTube vids about transhumanism and ai worshiping have been popping up on my feeds. I actively ignore it, not trying to tempt the psychosis, lol

Many may argue we are still a very long way from agi even though these llm company ceos might make you believe otherwise. In either case, there will always be a new technology we have to learn to leverage for fear of getting left behind.
The only antidote to that would be to stop seeking "progress" and be content with what we can do now, seeking to make our existence more sustainable.
I mean what's to stop us from just saying hey this is pretty good as it is and everyone seek to have a self-sustainable or community sustained existence.... na that prob won't happen....
