I have given in and decided that I need to learn to use AI tools better.
I've been resisting, but too many job adverts and promotion opportunities for what I do are requesting knowledge of AI to "improve existing processes and create new opportunities to expand and grow our business" blah blah.
It's at the point that every meeting I attend has someone show off some report or thing they made with AI and everyone goes "ohhh that's amazing" and I'm sitting there with my spreadsheets and apex stuff being made to feel like a dinosaur 😄
Sure they might get let go once they replace their own job, but I'm getting let go because I'm not replacing my own job, so i might as well get paid for doing it myself 👍
I decided Claude is the way to go, though I really want to like Grok but it feels a bit less gaared to business stuff.
What do you all think?

The zap store has seriously disappointed me.
I have no need for another app store with a political bias.
The zap store now has the "ice breaker" app listed, that's highly political.
It also has religious apps listed under the "bullshit" category.
I've uninstalled it, I don't need this one sided political shit on here.
I might come off nostr altogether if this is the way its going, might as well go on mastodon at this rate.

So my most recent posts just, disappeared, vanished, never to be seen again.
I can see notifications that people replied to these posts but I can't get the actual posts to show at all.
How strange ☹️

2026-02-13 07:07:23 UTC

Let's talk about nostr.
This has so much potential, but for some reason its feeling quite lonely and flat here.
I have removed all my photography posts, I tried pretty hard but there isn't an audience here for photography, that's understandable I suppose, but I did hope we could carve out more of an art and photo scene on nostr, beyond AI anime pictures 😄
My thoughts are that when bitcoin crashed in value, a lot of the activity here fell off too. I did at least used to get some traction on my posts a few months ago, but recent ones have very much felt like staring into an empty void 😶
I'm still going to hang around. There are lots of really interesting posts made by other people, but I have to accept the idea that this is more an alternative niche tech and geeky crypto hangout than a possible competitor to X or Instagram, and that's ok, everything has its place.
The bad news is that globally I fear a tightening on freedom. X is likely getting banned in several countries, YouTube keeps getting worse, privacy is being eroded. Things like nostr offer an alternative, but I don't know how we get that message out.
🙂

I did try posting lots of my photography, but its very much like posting into the void (though it was better a year ago, pretty bad now for some reason), my rants about life however used to get decent engagement 😄 unfortunately without engagement most people get bored so that's the difficult part to overcome on nostr.

I was talking to a friend i havent seen since 2010. It was weird, we spoke about what we did back then and concluded that in some ways, very little had changed.
The world has become more dystopian and polarised, but culture, technology, music, fashion, have barely moved.
If you imagine having this conversation in 1995, and going back 15 years to 1980, everything was completely different, there's a huge cultural and technical change between those years.
So what happened? Why have we stagnated? What was previously exciting change has become dull, and new advances in tech just feel designed to ensnare and surveil you evermore.
Its sad really.

Dont be afraid to have children.
They change your life, give it meaning and make it worth waking up in the morning.
It's the greatest thing you'll ever do.
So many people now wait till its too late, or think I'll "cramp my lifestyle", but the truth is, having kids surpasses every other thing you think gives your life value.
Do it, you'll love it :)

To be fair, I feel many of the main towns a d cities in multiple countries are in the same condition.
I think a combination of the death of the high street, loss of community and people feeling desperate or hopeless has caused much of this.
Most upsetting for me is seeing whole generations of people that have just become husks, drink and drugs and unhealthy living has ruined them.
All they do is exist.

Yeah I should have tried something like that, but I started thinking id get drunks trying to rob me if I stopped with my camera out :)

2025-09-10 11:58:41 UTC

I went out today intending to take some street photography pictures documenting "the decline of civilisation" where I live.
My rule was going to be, no poor porn, no pictures that are obviously political, just pictures showing how badly things are deteriorating.
My camera never even made it out my bag.
Every picture would have been poor porn or political.
At 12am during a weekday, the place was full of drunks, junkies, suspicious looking creeps, beggars and apparently disabled people (with walking sticks or mobility scooters). Half the shops were boarded up and the rest were a mix of shops for specific ethnicities (Indian, polish etc), vape shops, Turkish hairdressers or Chinese nail bars.
All the classic stores and cool niche shops are gone.
I also felt very threatened, and I'm not exactly a timid person, but there was a horrible atmosphere about the place.
The crumbling buildings, failing infrastructure, dirt, litter, lack of investment and cheap pointless "art installations" didn't come close to comparing to the wasted state of the people.
Any pictures i took would have been sad and depressing, and I didn't want that, I was hoping to show a sort of "people thriving in the face of adversity" feel, but no, it would just have been people deteriorating in the face of abandonment.
I havent given up, but next time I'll go to more of a tourist place, or business area, where I won't feel I'm about to get mugged and, hopefully, I can tell the story without it being a completely soul crushing horror.

People at work are now using AI for everything and its totally depressing and chaotic.
Need a report? Get AI to do it.
Need a presentation? Get AI to do it.
Need to write an email? Get AI to do it.
Its at the point people are presenting reports with completely nonsense data and recommendations because no one checked to see if the AI was correct, or they didn't know how to get the AI to do what they wanted properly.
Whole projects are started and stopped because of incorrect AI reports.
And yet management keep pushing it, "everybody use AI more". It's almost as if they're seeing how much they can get away with without people being involved, obviously 😁
No one seems to realise this and they just keep plugging away, handing over their jobs willingly to AI just because it means they don't have to think.

I don't know why, I never had one before and didn't consider myself religious.
However it just felt right, I had a sense that it was something i needed to do, it seemed important, I really cant explain why.
Since then I've worn it every day and I feel im becoming more religious. A very unexpected turn of events.

Yes, I'd start in about 1984, and awful lot of good things came out that year. After about 2003 or so, everything started to fall apart, the last 5 years have just accelerated that :(

Man I miss the 80s.
I know everyone gets nostalgic for whatever era they grew up in, but the 80s had that mix of exciting new technology, good music, a thriving youth culture, impending nuclear doom (well that bit not so much fun really), community spirit (your town or place you came from was important, it was your tribe, something that's died off now), optimism for the future and a sort of innocence that feels crazy now.
Its a shame gen z won't and haven't experienced it.

Favourite android keyboard?
I'm using Heliboard (openboard fork), anything better?
