well, they probably are right. Rent amounts have been “subsidised” for years by the hopeful speculator who expects to make a small motza when they sell the property in a few years, while feeling all warm and snuggly about the tax deduction they were accruing, and they had to be, because very few people could afford the level of rent required to actually justify the prices that properties were selling at.
Oh, wait, what was that other ABC article about people unable to afford rent and shanty towns? :(

trucking is the big one - I think it’s likely this will be the “over the line” thing for Joe Public, but trucking has a huge investment in diesel systems. They need grants from govt to upgrade and assistance in getting the nationwide recharging grid setup
Now lets see if our govt has the brains to do it - big oil won’t like it! :(

people will hate the idea, of course, because everyone aspires to be a landlord - we’ve been indoctrinated for decades :(
I’d like to think it would go better if they phrased it like “someone who speculates on housing contributes less to society than the carpenters…” but it wouldnt, people are selfish sods and don’t realise the greater benefit we all receive by pooling our resources with this thing called “taxes”.
I hope the pollies can pull off the big sell required to get this one through! (And the Greens finally realise that the perfect is the enemy of the good :( )

i would think the browser can no longer tell (reliably) - consider: a fresh page and all the html, css and scripts have downloaded… now the scripts are running that will load the content on the page. The browser has no way to know what scripts are loading page bits, and what scripts are doing later things :(

I have a chicken on my verandah.
I do not own any chickens (anymore) but my neighbours do, and the girls regularly come to annoy^h^h^h visit us.
Maybe we have nicer grass?
Anyway, yesterday I put out seed for the King Parrots on the back verandah, and some of it fell through, as it always does, and I suspect she has eaten the stuff down below then gone where did this come?, looked up and gone aha! and then figured out that the stepped structure would let her get up to The Seed Source

from memory, i think it was like 10 kms (ish), which would cover, umm, probably 300 households (its been several years since looked at it, because, you know, we’ve given up. Starlink got us online)
The rumour at the time was nbn were estimating 3ish million for the job.

closest ive come is a registrar where my login didn’t work. In contacting them they replied that they had reset my password because “it contained special characters, which was insecure” so they were storing passwords in plain text and had read mine. I moved my domains immediately (this was many years ago)

“cheap shared” as in cpanel hosting? I have it working. You have to turn on ssh access (my host provides a gui outside cpanel - i dont know how common that is), get the port number its using, make the remote repo (theres a nice gui in cpanel) and hook local to remote as normal. Its a bit fiddly, but works well :)

wow, just saw a new release epub on amazon for 20.99 (AUD) - most I've ver seen - and my only thought was "I do hope the author is getting a good chunk of that"
