So while I can install most apps without the Play Services on my @npub1kwa…e0nj Pixel8a either by using other app stores or the APK directly, some apps, especially mapping apps that use Google Map Services, won't work, due to missing "Play services" on device.
More specifically, the map functionality or location services in the app won't work.
Bummer, and yet, that's how you escape the walled garden.
(yes, I know, I can create a user with sandboxed services, but trying not to)
