To eveyone on Mastodon:
The real lesson of the US attack on autistici/inventi is that WE ARE NEXT. Mastodon servers mostly do not run things like PRISM, are often based outside the US, and compete directly with the Tech Bros and their ad and tracker supported shit for an audience.
Also lots of anti-Trump activism here.
If we don't fight for autistici/inventi today, we will have to fight for Mastodon tomorrow. Domino effects are real with Fascists as we saw at the start of WWII.

Consider a hypothetical Hitler vs Mussolini election, with Hitler slightly ahead. If Hitler loses you still get Fascism but maybe not the Holocaust. Also Mussolini is probably a less capable opponent in the civil war that comes next.
Thus you oppose both candidates, so if the Fascists are dumb enough to let you vote (which is not always the case!), you vote for the weaker to prepare the battlefield for the day after.

In October 2023, I was in DC for the first three weeks of this war, having originally gone there for unrelated reasons.
Quite a few of the antiwar protests I was at were almost half Jewish, with very little airspace between Jewish-initiated and Palestinian-initiated chants. Some were Jewish-organized from start to finish, notably a civil disobedience effort to block road access to the White House. It took about a week for the shock to wear off and people to get moving, then it was action almost every day.
Capper of all of this was an very elderly Holocaust survivor at one of the bigger protests, invoking "never again" against Israel's genocidal intentions which had already been declared.

FBI agents driven off after failed attempt to question someone at home
On the 28th of April, video emerged of a failed attempt by the FBI to question someone at home in an unstated location.
The home defender here handles the FBI well: refuses to answer questions, demands their own IDs and full names, and ultimately drives off the agents.
Not as aggro as the times I've been in similar incidents but more than enough to get the job done. We win, J Edgar Boozer and the Federal Bureau of Intoxication lose.

If Isra-Hell strikes at Iran with nukes, Iran could respond by destroying all those Israeli seawater desalination plants. They are all in one place and vulnerable to drone and missile strikes, and surely Netanyahu knows it. Without them Isra-hell would dry up and blow away. This is close enough to nuclear-level damage it may be able to deter a nuclear attack.
While Iran's top clerics may well conclude such warfare violates restrictions in the Q'uran and Hadith on war against civilians, Netanyahu would be betting the continued existance of his own country on those religious leaders being able to override the judgement of Iran's military after a nuclear hit.
A theocracy hit with a nuclear attack could well conclude the war is now "God vs the Devil," and the gloves may well come off.

Isra-Hell is a lot smaller than Iran. If the IOF escalates the war to a battle until one side or the other is "returned to the stone age" it will be Isra-Hell that faces that fate due to disproportionate numbers and size of territory.

For much of the 20th century and later, if you looked for "canoe glue" what you would find has been Ambroid, a solvent and nitrocellulose based wood glue first developed for canvas surfaced canoes and very effective for that use.
It's better known by much of my generation from it's other use: on balsa model aircraft. It used to be very commonly sold in small tubes in hobby shops for that use, as well as much larger cans for use on canoes. This of course is a totally different product than polystyrene plastic glue as used to assemble plastic models. Both can produce some nasty fumes in a small enough space.
Today "super glue" has almost entirely replaced it in that role due to faster setup, but Ambroid had the advantag of being sandable at nearly the same rate as the balsa wood. Super glue BTW seems to make the worst fumes of all glue, creating a very effective tear gas if enough is exposed to air at once-or if a previously glued joint is heated!

Remember that refusing to push the power button isn't needed, as anyone can push the button.
It's at the passphrase screen for encryption that the blockade is set by refusal to share the passphrase or unlock the device. Anyone can get to that screen but nobody but you can get past it with a strong enough passphrase and no biometrics.

Note that a phone which is on but "before first unlock" (not decrypted) is exactly as secure as if it was off if it previously spent a few minutes in the off state to clear RAM contents.
This is because anyone can push a power button, but the passphrase has not been entered. So long as biometrics is not enabled they cannot get in. They should not be able to steal the phone in domestic travel but can in international travel. If its graphene this won't help them one bit as Cellbrite can't get in, and supposedly US citizens can re-enter even after defying demands to answer questions beyond citiizenship/identity or decrypt devices.
Real world: protecting your privacy and those around you might mean having to accept the risk of being denied boarding. In domestic travel there is usually at least Greyhound as an alternative if this happens.
I would not advise anyone to travel into the US internationally now. This is Nazi Germany 2.0, if you can get out best advice is to stay out until the civil war here is over.

Since I KNOW I am too reactive to ever pass through that sort of secondary screening I have stayed off the airlines since 2001. This is for autistic reasons as much as anything else. Being around cops puts me into combat mode. No way I would be willing to answer those questions. You are supposed to only be denied boarding and escorted out of the airport, but this is NOT something cops can be trusted with. While TSA is not a grand jury with a subpeona, we must remember that law is dead in the US.
All of my trips between Arizona and DC or FL have been on the ground. Takes about four days each way but is far more private and much less dangerous.
If I want to fly somewhere I have to build my own plane first, a process that takes most builders about a year for fullscale. At the moment I've never built one big enough to ride in. Also most small planes that get car-level fuel economy are only a little faster than the highway and can be grounded by bad weather. To fly a small plane (not a corporate jet) from FL to CA can take an entire week, an uncle of mine used to do exactly that.

This after Trump threatened to bomb the big Iranian oil terminal on Kharg Island.
Those who drive the big Trump flag trucks that are jacked up, have big draggy tires, and get single-digit fuel economy even on high-priced diesel are going to LOVE the resulting prices at gas stations! $6 a gallon for 87 octane gas is about what we get at $150 a barrel (as expected if Kharg is bombed and Iran does NOT respond), and that's $7+ a gallon for diesel to feed those bit flag trucks.
Oh yeah-since semis use diesel too, expect to pay more for groceries and everything else. What was that crap about how Trump was supposed to lower grocery prices?

Violent cops and a US Senator break ex-Marine's arm as he protests on Capitol Hill against Israeli reason for Iran War
On March 4 at some hearing or event on Capitol Hill, a former Marine protested the US going to war with Iran as Isra-Hell's bidding.
He was met with force, brutality-and a broken arm as cops and a sitting Senator assaulted him.
Note that as a Marine, if he had chosen to meet force with force those attackers could have come away with broken legs or more. One good "Iron Broom" round kick and down they go.
Update: another report indicates it was the Senator that broke his arm. A Senator is not a cop, so resisting a violent physical assault by one cannot constitute assaulting a police officer.

Orlando marches hours after 2nd murder in Minneapolis by ICE
On the 24th of January, ICE murderers opened fire again in Minneapolis. This time they murdered registered nurse (RN) Alex Jeffrey Pretti. Within hours, streets in Minneapolis were barricaded first with flaming dumpsters by protesters, then by cops and National Guard attempting to restrict car entry to a large area including people's homes.
Solidarity protests erupted everywhere, including both Tampa and Orlando in Central Florida. The Orlando march took over sidewalks and stretched for blocks. This was similar to but larger than the Friday night aftermarch that cops attacked and arrested one person from. This time around, facing greater numbers, the cops kept their hands to themselves

Most folks would have gone to the hospital but with no insurance and severe issues about checking into any kind of institutional setting I chose to ride it out. Without the vaccine I could have died from that shit.

Best military analogy might be a detailed intelligence report of the enemy's nature and capabilities that lets you prepare in advance.

If they put weapons on police drones, the rules change to the same as they are in Ukraine. I've seen video of air to air drone dogfights in Ukraine.

In other words, the whistles let us evacuate vulnerable civilians while summoning fighters to the front.
In many places, when this brings tens or especially hundreds of fighters running, ICE throws in the towel. Commonly they will fire off a few tear gas grenades, then run for it with their tail between their legs.

Lab-grown meat is probably the only realistic chance we have to get billions of animals out of the sheer fucking hell of factory farming them.
Various surveys have found that about 1% of the US public is vegan, and from 4% to 10% are now vegetarian or vegan. Getting there required 50 years of huge efforts by animal rights groups.
Remember that to huge numbers of people, "meat comes from the store," along with everything else.
Any government that tried to end meat eating by law would be overthrown by armed force, and meat consumption would soar afterwards.

Basically we need to do three things to resolve this:
1: stop using plastic single-use packaging, preferably by no longer using ANY single-use packaging.
Example: soda could be sold in kegs as beer is, would stay good to almost the end of the keg. The current crop of plastic screw-cap soda bottles in my experience (before so many house brand sodas started tasting bad for an unknown reason) was that the same bottle would last for months even when carried in bike bottle holders.
Obviously both paper and plastic single-use bags need to be removed from their current shopping role.
2: Ensure that all spent plastic items are collected for recycling if possible, else for some mode of destruction. Plastics not containing chloride ions can often be incinerated if the temperature is high enough and a catalyst used after to burn off any remaining organic compounds. Might be possible to use heat from this in electrical power generation.
Some thermoplastics such as polystyrene (everything from plastic models to styrofoam) can be melted down and re-used over and over so long as they are separated by color. Alternately, never dye plastics, instead paint them on the surface so they are always clear, white, or (with age and re-use) off-white/grey. Styrofoam BTW dissolves readily in solvents like acetone, some folks cast dissolved old styro-trash into usable solid polystyrene items. Should be also possible to blow it again so old styrofoam trash becomes new styrofoam reusable goods over and over. It's not that this CAN'T be done, it's that it ISN'T being done.
3: If a particular plastic cannot be destroyed without producing things like dioxen (from things like PVC), cannot be dissolved or melted down and used again, yet generates microplastics if abandoned in the environment (which 5,000 year old pottery does not so), than the offending plastic should be replaced as quickly as possible with another one that is easier to handle at product EOL.

Leak: US Atty General orders FBI to compile enemies list
https://www.kenklippenstein.com/p/leak-fbi-list-of-extremists-is-coming
Attorney General Pam Bondi is ordering the FBI to “compile a list of groups or entities engaging in acts that may constitute domestic terrorism,” according to a Justice Department memo published here exclusively.
The target is those expressing “opposition to law and immigration enforcement; extreme views in favor of mass migration and open borders; adherence to radical gender ideology,” as well as “anti-Americanism,” “anti-capitalism,” and “anti-Christianity.”
Bondi Memo On Countering Domestic Terrorism And Organized Political Violence
That language echoes the so-called indicators of terrorism identified by President Trump’s directive National Security Presidential Memorandum-7, or NSPM-7, which the memo says it’s intended to implement. Where NSPM-7 was a declaration of war on just about anyone who isn’t MAGA, this is the war plan for how the government will wage it on a tactical level.
In addition to compiling a list of undesirables, Bondi directs the FBI to enhance the capabilities (and publicity) of its tipline in order to more aggressively solicit tips from the American public on, well, other Americans. To that end, Bondi also directs the FBI to establish “a cash reward system” for information leading to identification and arrest of leadership figures within these purported domestic terrorist organizations. (The memo later instructs the FBI to “establish cooperators to provide information and eventually testify against other members” of the groups.)
The payouts don’t end there. Justice Department grants are now to prioritize funding to programs for state and local law enforcement to go after domestic terrorism.
In a section titled “Defining the domestic terrorism threat,” the memo cites “extreme viewpoints on immigration, radical gender ideology, and anti-American sentiment” — indicators that federal law enforcement are instructed to refer to FBI Joint Terrorism Task Forces (JTTFs). Those JTTFs are then instructed to “use all available investigative tools” in order to “map the full network of culpable actors involved” in both “inside and outside the United States.”
The memo also directs the FBI and JTTFs to retroactively investigate incidents going back five years, authorizing the JTTFs in particular to use everything at their disposal to do so.
“Upon receipt of these referrals, the JTTFs shall use all available investigative tools, consistent with law enforcement internal policies and statutory obligations, to map the full network of culpable actors involved in the referred conduct inside and outside the United States,” the memo says.
For months, major media outlets have largely blown off the story of NSPM-7, thinking it was all just Trump bluster and too crazy to be serious. But a memo like this one shows you that the administration is absolutely taking this seriously — even if the media are not — and is actively working to operationalize NSPM-7.
NSPM-7 was signed in September largely in response to the murder of Charlie Kirk, which was a 9/11-type event for the Trump administration, as I’ve reported. (Kirk’s assassination is referenced explicitly in the Justice Department memo.) As anyone who lived through 9/11 can remember, the government doesn’t always think rationally in moments like those, to say the least. And so here we are, with a new War on Terrorism — only this time, millions of Americans like you and I could be the target.
We publish documents other media won’t. For more leaks and to make it so I can keep doing this work, please become a paid subscriber.

This is very aggressive and very fast. They are working to make any form of protest into a federal crime, and to reorient all national and local "law enforcement" around crushing it. The cash reward system and calls for citizens to inform on their neighbors should be terrifying to anyone with the slightest grasp of history.
I still believe their real targets are not so much the street protestors (which they believe they can mop up over time through extreme violence) but scaring away any foundations or rich people from backing any organization even remotely critical of the administration (hence the repeated references to tax law).

First things first: such plants don't DESTROY radiation at all. They merely absorb as much of it as any other living organism would, then manage to make use of the resulting ionization.
There may have been a lot of this when Earth was young, the ozone layer did not exist, and a lot more radioisotopes left from the original supernova cloud were still on the planet.
Radiosynthesis is not really a surprise. Photosynthesis is basically a special case of it using lower energy but more available electromagnetic radiation, using some special sensitive chemistry (in colorophyll) that can be ionized by visible light.
Since ionization is the key to splitting water and then reducing carbon dioxide, any source of ions whose presence can be tolerated could drive similar reactions given the right chemistry. Thus a plant that first evolves to tolerate high energy ionizing radiation (say by more accurately repairing DNA), could then evolve to make use of the ionization to produce sugar.
It is interesting that plants evolved to use visible light rather than UV as their ion source for photosynthesis. Maybe a biological accident driven by available chemistry?

Palestinian resistance fighters would be making their worst mistake ever if they gave up their weapons. Sounds like they know it too.
Does anyone still think it was a good idea for Ukraine to give up their nukes when the Soviet Union broke up?
Such demands are best compared to an armed robber demanding their victim's gun.
