If I hadn't been vaccinated in 2014 I might not be here today. The vaccine for 2013-2014 missed the Sydney strain but even misses reduce severity of symptoms.

When I got the 2014 Sydney flu it got so bad I heard bubbling in my lungs and had a borderline drowning sensation. Most folks would have gone to the hospital but with no insurance and severe issues about checking into any kind of institutional setting I chose to ride it out. The severe stuff only lasted a day thanks to the vaccine, but I still had to get antibiotics after to stop the usual secondary infection bronchitis I get after so much as a cold.

Without the vaccine I could have died from that shit.

Every time you get sick, a battle is fought inside your body. Vaccines let you build fortifications and tell your troops what the enemy's uniform looks like before it starts. Best military analogy might be a detailed intelligence report of the enemy's nature and capabilities that lets you prepare in advance.

Who would turn down such an intel report when enemies are building up for an invasion?
