Over the last several days, the community has been shaken by an ongoing security incident involving Coldcard hardware wallets, made by Coinkite. A firmware bug affecting seed generation on certain older devices has been actively exploited, and funds have been lost.
If you have ever generated a seed on a Coldcard device, Coinkite is urging you to move your funds now. Do not delay. Read their official advisory here: https://blog.coinkite.com/coldcard-mk3-seed-generation-warning/
In Coinkite CEO Rodolfo Novak's own words: "If you generated a seed using a Coldcard wallet, move your funds now, using our updated best practices, before reading further."
To anyone who has lost funds in this incident, our deepest condolences. Sats are more than numbers on a screen. They are time, work, and belief in a better system.
⚠️ Watch for scams. Events like this always trigger a wave of phishing emails, fake support pages, and fake "recovery" tools. Verify every email. Never enter your seed into a website. Never share your seed with anyone claiming to be from support. Follow verified accounts on X for real-time updates.
Self-custody is the whole point of Bitcoin. Real, direct ownership of your coins, no intermediary. This week is a painful reminder that the tools we use for self-custody have to be trustworthy. That does not change our belief in self-custody. It sharpens it.

We've been running the Bitaxe GT (Gamma Turbo) for a bit and wanted to share setup notes & numbers for anyone considering one.
The headline difference from the standard Gamma is the dual BM1370 ASIC design. At stock settings we're seeing around 2.15 TH/s pulling roughly ~40W. There's also headroom! With overclocking you can push it well past 3 TH/s. Same AxeOS / esp-miner firmware you already know, so if you've run any Bitaxe before, nothing here will surprise you.
Setup is straightforward: power on, connect to the AxeOS Wi-Fi AP, join your network, then drop in your pool info and BTC payout address.
From there AxeOS gives you the usual dashboard: hashrate, chip temp, fan speed, accepted/rejected shares, and pool connection status.

You can solo mine with Datum but if you're mining to Ocean and hit a block, you will only get your small daily payout. That's max pain and has happened to someone already.

A Reddit user has come forward to claim the recently mined, self-hosted Public-Pool block, and announced that it was mined with a NerdQaxe++ Revision 6. 🥳
Can we FINALLY say that we sold the winning ticket?!
"Hey guys, it's me again. I recently posted about a px build I made with 6 nerdqaxe++. I recently got a Avalon Q as well and my total has is 120-130 TH.
I manage to do it. I fucking manage to do the god damn impossible. I got a mother fucking block. Everyone says its hard. Your wasting money. You’ll never find one. You have to get at least a few PT to have any chance. Well fuck those guys. I did it and we got proof now. A tiny nerdQaxe found a block against all odds, against the world.
And I solo mined. It was $342,564.17. Tax will eat up $158,000 leaving me with 200k ish. I am so damn psyched and hyped.
The max difficulty i hit was 2.08 P. I had 212 G. You guys can do it. We all can do it. These small miners are so damn amazing. Also, I will delete all private DM. Don't even bother scammers. And I also already “verified” and “sync” my wallet ok".

Heads up, everyone: There's a shady Chinese seller going by "yysluping" who's been pushing a bunch of knockoff products from the Nerdaxe and Bitaxe lineup. One big red flag is their version of the NerdQaxe++, it's been tweaked and messed with in ways that block you from flashing the legit open-source firmware.
You've probably seen their pushy ads all over YouTube. They've stripped out the update options in the firmware and tell you to grab "updates" from their sketchy repo. But here's the kicker: what you're actually downloading isn't just firmware, it's some dodgy Windows or MacOS app that gets loaded onto their altered device.
This is a double whammy: It could compromise both your computer and the NerdQaxe itself. Stay far away, don't even think about installing any of their software or firmware on your setup, and definitely skip buying hardware from these guys. It's just not worth the risk of getting scammed or hacked.
