I know the chain was bought, but I'm not certain if every theater will be affected the same way? They still show cool movies, but the whole "come early for pre-show shorts, get some food, and make an evening of it" element is gone.

I don't know what happened to me, but I went from being one of those people who hates frosted cookies to someone who actively seeks them out. Today I bought a cookie shaped like a football covered in crunchy sugar glaze. Apparently it's a reference to some sort of festive event and it tasted delicious.

I think it's similar to War of the Worlds, in that it imagines what would happen if England was treated by people from other nations the way England had treated its colonies. Remember: Dracula is trying to buy up British real estate, as well as sucking blood (and Marx had already described capitalists as vampires so that would have been a well-known trope). So one possible reading is that it's about the English being menaced by people taking their lands and sullying their blood.

Spending a pleasant evening considering the connections between three anti-imperialist novels: Dracula by Bram Stoker (1897), War of the Worlds by HG Wells (1898, though serialized in 1897), and Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad (1899) ... all of which came out during and after Queen Victoria's opulent "Golden Jubilee" to celebrate 50 years of glorious Victorian imperialism.
