There is a lot left to do. We've been working on Intel graphics, which is a big piece of the puzzle. Wifi is another one I want to start soon.

DHH says "The number of Linux distros and projects that have these batty Al policies is baffling. Like rejecting the railroad because you like to pet donkeys. Oh well, more tokens for Omarchy!"
Followed by a screenshot of Redox OS's AI policy which forbids LLM generated contributions.

If you have found a line to walk that works for you, more power to you. COSMIC has a similar policy to Bevy, where there is no outright ban, and I've found my time slipping away from working on my own work to reviewing mostly LLM assisted work which has been emotionally devastating.

2026-09-11 01:08:39 UTC

It is becoming impossible to take a nuanced stance on LLM written code. Any opening results in a flood.

COSMIC's on-screen keyboard (cosmic-osk) is landing some improvements soon:
- Design updates
- Floating mode
- Gamepad support and universal gamepad icons

No, I would not allow DHH or vaxry to participate in the Redox community. I despise hypotheticals, though.

As the creator of Redox, I believe Ribbon's answer is inaccurate. We simply have not had to deal with this scenario, but I would not hesitate to ban a user who holds intolerant beliefs.

For databases, you likely will use the database library in every place and it will always use advisory locking. I don't know the history well, but I guess Linux had good reasons to not support mandatory locking

Apparently there are heated arguments among OpenMandriva maintainers about whether to package COSMIC or GNOME and Davide Beatrici turned to crime to undo the packaging progress. It probably should not be, but it is hilarious to me.

Dear contributors to projects I work on,
If you are programming with LLMs under the assumption that they will fill in the gaps in your own abilities, I can assure you that they will not. I prefer to not spend my time reviewing code you submit that you do not understand.
Thank you,
Jeremy

Redox now supports sending file descriptors over Unix sockets (SCM_RIGHTS), which means it should now be possible to port Wayland compositors and programs using D-Bus.

With the fediverse, we have the power to choose our home and I prefer to choose one where I would be comfortable recommending everyone I know to join. I cannot in good conscience remain on a server where people I know could potentially be victimized by the people in power.
A person is in power at fosstodon.org who does not believe in privacy for trans children. If this is a publicly held belief that they are willing to voice, what are they willing to do with private power?

#introduction I am Jeremy Soller.
I work at @npub1mjj…a2m6 as Principal Engineer where I maintain our Linux distribution [@pop_os_official](https://fosstodon.org/@pop_os_official ), port @coreboot@mastodon.technology and open source embedded controller firmware to our laptops, work on the new desktop environment [@COSMIC_desktop](https://fosstodon.org/@COSMIC_desktop ), and more!
I also am the creator and BDFL of a microkernel operating system primarily written in @npub1n6l…4ths called @npub1y8w…gese. I am damn near crazy about #Rust and use it anywhere and everywhere!
