Same tbh. Love you guys even though I disagree with you on many, many things, but I think it's time for me to logout for a while again.

I should clarify, the leaked server binaries absolutely were the mess of "works on my machine" that any reasonably cynical dev expected. And yet.

It's difficult because the well has been poisoned by maliciously bad points, making an inherently unsympathetic position even more unsympathetic.

My favourite excuse is "it would be too hard for people to run anyway, it's ten services split across big iron with esoteric hardcoded environment requirements." Meanwhile, when Genshin Impact server binaries got leaked, people managed to get things self-hostable very very quickly despite missing critical db things that weren't included in the leaks.

>Louis Rossman has never done something out of conviction, everything he did, benefited him money in the end. As an example, the whole right to repair movement is great, altho he pushed that not for the reason that private people do have more rights, he pushed it because its his business to do so.
This is a funny natural consequence of him being self-effacing. He's willing to call his motivations and convictions self-interest, so self-righteous people judge him by their own standards and say he must be a real piece of work. Much like people who always play up their skills will assume someone who plays them down is actually playing them up as well, and we all know how well that works in hiring processes.

>Physicians were explicitly instructed not to use external resources, including search engines (e.g., Google, Bing), language models (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, etc), or other online sources of medical information. They were blinded to the correctness of their diagnosis, and were asked to complete as many as possible during the study period.
Now I'm interested to see what they'd get with search engines allowed, since that's the real baseline.

It seems like a good comparison in that everyone wants to be a late adopter, but certain entities (uncooperative dependencies) being late adopters is actively harmful to the process and it becomes a chicken and egg problem for adoption.

>he documentation Greg is looking for (which a group of Lawyers at the LF will verify) is that someone in the removed list doesn't actually work for an OFAC SDN sanctioned entity.
Why stop at the removed list, which for all we know is a wild guess as to affiliations? Why not KYC every single maintainer, and require it for all contributors going forward?
Are they serious about following these laws or is this just keeping up appearances and implicitly telling Russians to switch to pseudonyms?

I'm already at 2 phones 2 laptops as a hard minimum for this trip (anything less and I won't be able to continue moving around indefinitely) and I'd like to take a tablet and smaller portable oled monitor too. Bringing a 15.6" portable monitor as well seems like asking for trouble, though perhaps not on the same level as if I had decided to bring my three identical tablets.

I destroyed 2 portable screens attempting this lol. Loose panel guarantees I won't have to risk the same shucking procedure, and that it will have the eDP connector in the correct location (getting another unknown portable monitor may have a panel where it's on the other side, or further up vertically, and there's very little slack on the eDP cable)

It doesn't even sound like the family is destroyed, it's just the older sister pushing her out of group events. Older sister seems like a lost cause tbh.
