I do something with IT Security...

I love old computers and hate authoritarian people. Former leftie, now political homeless, but always a radical supporter of the democratic system. Strong believer in a small government, personal accountability and responsibility. No time and patience for bullshit.

Psychology says mental toughness in men over 60 isn't what it looks like — it's not stoicism or grit, it's the quiet competence of someone who stopped expecting life to explain itself to them around age thirty and has been operating without that expectation ever since - The Expert Editor

I promise you all one thing: The moment 3D-printers are somehow regulated what it can be used for all the lobbyists will come forward and will add their wishes to the list of forbidden things to print.
If 3d-printing is outlawed so the chance of getting the power to manufacture things and spare parts will end. All your prototypes will go to a central authority to see if there is something useful in development... Or to see if there are copyright violations...
And no, it will not stop ghostguns. This ship sailed a long time ago and it will not come back. Society needs other ways to handle it than forbid a manufacturing process.

Europe often sees Ukraine only as a victim. That is a dangerous oversimplification.
Ukraine is a major military power in its own right. For the last two centuries, most so-called russian victories depended heavily on Ukraine.
Against Napoleon Bonaparte, the Russian Empire relied on Ukrainian manpower, food supplies, horses, and Cossack cavalry. Against Adolf Hitler, millions of Ukrainians fought in the Red Army, while Ukrainian industry, agriculture, and territory were decisive for Soviet victory.
The same pattern appeared in darker chapters of European history. The partition of Poland, the Warsaw Pact’s military threat, the war against Finland, and even the war in Afghanistan were all enabled by imperial armies that included massive Ukrainian participation.
In the USSR, the most advanced intercontinental ballistic missiles were designed and manufactured in Ukraine and serviced by Ukrainians until 2014. Ukrainians made up roughly 40% of Soviet army officers in the 1980s. The world’s largest cargo aircraft was built in Ukraine. russia wants all of this back — and without Ukraine, its missiles now explode on roughly every second launch.
Ukraine also possesses around 30% of the world’s black soil, the most fertile agricultural land on Earth — an enormous source of strategic leverage. In addition, Ukraine holds major mineral resources, including uranium, ranking among the top ten countries globally by uranium reserves.
History shows a simple rule: russia looks strongest when it controls Ukraine.
If russia absorbs Ukraine today, Europe will not face a tired or weakened aggressor. It will face the strongest and most experienced army on the continent — reinforced by Ukrainian manpower, battlefield experience, and industrial capacity.
“Without Ukraine, russia ceases to be an empire. With Ukraine suborned and then subordinated, russia automatically becomes an empire.” — Zbigniew Brzezinski
Ukraine can become the backbone of Europe’s defense against russia. Or, if left unsupported, it can be forcibly absorbed — and then brought to Europe’s doorstep.
Supporting Ukraine is not charity. It is strategic self-defense.

The renaming of the "Gulf of Mexico" to the "Gulf of America" has nothing to do with projecting dominance or even conveying meaning. It is more like Stalinist propaganda. That was not about convincing anyone either, but about dividing people into groups. Those who repeat it – they are "your people." Those who protest against it – they are the ones you need to deal with. Those who say nothing – they don’t matter; they will stay silent on other things as well.

I totally forgot this one. Sorry, I have a quite full schedule at the moment.
Of course it is a Commodore C16. Meant as a replacement for the cheap VIC-20 it was something like the little brother of the Plus/4
The C16 was announced in June 1984 and sold from 1985. At this point, Mattel and TI had withdrawn from the home computer market. Japanese companies then also brought home computers onto the market with the MSX computers, but these were also more in competition with the Commodore 64. In 1984, however, home computers with 64 KB RAM (C64, Atari 800XL, CPC 464, MSX) were already considered entry-level home computers, so the C16/C116 had not been promised much success.
Like the entire trio of the 264 series (C16, C116 and Plus/4), the C16 was not a great success. At first there were no significant number of games and „real“ applications.

Solarpaneele senkrecht?

In case anything leaked feel free to contact me at any time. I will give you some advice what can be cleaned with what. Some chemistry is involved here and you can break stuff if done wrong.

Don't just plug it in! It could kill it. First open it up and check for leaked capacitors or batteries.
I don't know if this model had a battery, but sometimes expansion cards had. Capacitors it has for sure.
I cannot stress this enough, because I have seen more that one vintage tech ruined by this problem.

Guess the computer from a look at it's backside!
Hint: One of the last attempts to fight the dominance of the Windows-PC.

Todays computer is another workstation. Where there is light, there is much shadow and sometimes the sun causes a bad sunburn, as you can see here.

Because the first one was too easy here is another one.
Hint: Read the writings, it should give it away.

Ok, lets resolve the mystery. It is a Sun Blade 1000 and to my knowladge it was the last workstation by Sun Microsystem delivered by default with a 13w3 monitor plug. In theory it was possible to order later Blade workstations with 13w3 graphic cards but this was rarely requested.
The Ultra workstations didn't have onboard USB, but one could order expansion cards.

I can confirm that the device is a workstation from Sun Microsystem, so neither Clone nor any other manufacturer.

You are getting closer, but no. 😜
That's fun. I will make more quiz photos during move.

But which one? No, it's not the Blade 2500 from the other photo or a #Sun Ultra.

A trick question for the #retrocomputing experts here:
What computers backside we are looking at?
It has a 13w3 monitor plug, but also USB, Firewire and SCSI. 🤔
Don't google the sticker, that's cheating.
