I have a friend who has made comments that I have #ADHD for years. Just every once in a while. I never thought much of of it until last weekend when I decided to look into it.
Holy Crap! That makes so many things make sense. From struggling in elementary school, why I frustrated my parents so much, why what they tried was like torture for me, serial hobbies, and so much more. Here I am getting close to 60 and I am just figuring this out.

Just look around any companies network that has been around 10-20 years. Most likely you will find things like, Server 2008 machines, CentOS 5 machines, still on the network because they run some missionary critical software that no one has figured out how to move onto modern OS's.

I switched to them years ago, they allowed me to continue running for almost 10 years beyond when I thought I would have to stop. I still wear them as my daily shoes. For hiking I go with 0 drop, but with thicker soles like Altra's. Gives more stone protection.

These people become comfortable in their cognitive dissonance and will fight you if you start to point it out. Because it causes them physical discomfort. They have accepted the dogma and will come up with the most outlandish rationalizations to justify it.
I have managed to talk two people I know out of it. They basically had to be gently guided into positions where their dogma and reality were at odds. Then allowed to slowly come to the realization on their own. Unfortunately not something easily replicated at scale. Also not useful for some who have gone too far down the rabbit hole and can't even admit to themselves the contradictions between their dogma and reality. Their whole identity seems to be wrapped up in their political beliefs.

I was talking with an old friend earlier this week. He's very disconnected from politics and will "both sides" most topics. He asked me why I was using 'slurs' like Nazi and Fascist to talk about the Right. I told him that I wasn't using them as slurs but as precise technical terms.
I sent him links to read a few short books: Ur Fascism by Umberto Eco, The Doctrine of Fascism by Benito Mussolini, and On Tyranny by Timothy Snyder. He's read the first two and is starting to have one of those moments when everything turns upside down.

I picked up a refurbished Canon M50 MkII with the kit lens. I added the Canon 50-200mm lens, and it's sometimes enough to catch some wildlife. Mostly I've just been trying different types of photography, learning the camera and post processing, and seeing what I enjoy.

On my way home from the #denver #50501movement protest. Peaceful cops, lots of people. We left the Capitol and marched through downtown. Tons of support from people stuck in the traffic jam we created. It was cathartic to stand in a crowd of like minded people and chant until you are hoarse.

I would just try with a slimjim or wire J-pole antenna hanging from the ceiling. I've had good luck on 40cm,2m, and 6m that way. The other option, when its warmer, is to try outdoors like SOTA/POTA.

It's pointless to be getting upset about Hegseth's confirmation hearing. He's just the first of a long parade of christofascist loyalists with no qualifications to go through this process and most, if not all, will probably be confirmed.
Over the next 90 days there will be a flurry of Executive Orders that will fundamentally change our country. Along with those will be some of the most repulsive bills that Congress has ever taken up, and most will probably become law.
Getting viscerally upset about each of these things will exhaust you. It will wreck your mental health. Anxiety and depression will bring you to a grinding halt and stop you from taking action.
Limit your exposure to the news. Try to engage locally, we really can't do anything about stuff at the federal level.
This is for me more than anything.
No one is coming. It's up to us.

One of my best friends who served with me in combat had an issue last week. He was at the VA and they were trying to force him to do something he didn't want to. He raised his voice as he got more frustrated.
They put him on the psych ward, heavily medicated him, put him through every test they could come up with, which he passed. They didn't release him for 4 days.

I tend to lean towards the paranoid side... I'd go through and change all my passwords and make sure I have 2FA on everything.

We're going backwards technologically. Which, may not be a bad thing for a while. Starve the personal information economy. Any files that you really want to save, do it local. Along with moving to encrypted cloud service providers where needed.
