Core Duo was only released for mobile computers (maybe iMacs too but Apple is Apple), and the x86-32 architecture will limit your choice of OS and software in 2026
Core 2 Duo is where it starts being "modern" with x86-64 support and other niceties, but you're still looking at ~20 year old hardware which if you find a working example isn't worth the money unless you somehow dumpster dive and find something for free
