The problem with Linux phones is that Linux was never designed with Security in mind, and on mobile devices you want security before everything else, otherwise without security you don't even have privacy: what if they take your phone or you lose it? The current state of Linux doesn't help with that, it's like running around with an unlocked and rooted android device.
So right now, unfortunately, the only solution is Graphene OS.

I get your view point and it makes sense for an expert user, but you cannot realistically assume people will manage LN nodes and liquidity in their lives, there needs to be an alternative (not saying it is ark, or spark or cashu...) that is less custodial as possible, with good privacy and that you would be able to use by just opening a mobile app (no fancy liquidity management, just a secret/seed/key to backup and that's it). Otherwise the majority of people will just use "custiodial bitcoin banks". As much as I want LN to succede even further, I think the channel structure of the whole network does not scale really well, what I mean is this: the best would be for a thousands of small LN nodes (friends, family, small communities), but as much as we like it, we know that will never happen at full scale, so the other scenario is for fewer but bigger hub nodes, which is what is happening today and that I think will become (in my opinion) unfeasible to manage for a lot of users (think of acinq in an immaginary future with million of users, they will need to have massive funds locked up on channels, I am not sure this is economically viable in the long term). So just to say wee need alternatives and/or integrations with other systems.

I feel like these cases are a bit unexplored, but yeah mesh networks would be helpful to connect offline areas to other online areas. Really hope things like meshtastic, reticulum and lora can become more mainstream and be used in these scenarios. At least simple messages and transactions/tokens can be transmitted.

Exactly, and I am not even sure cashu can really help here, you still need connection to the mints once in a while right? Yeah offlin exchange is possible, but let's be honest, can you really go for months without internet? I am not sure.
Would be interesting to see development targeting exactly these scenarios, but I don't think this can ever be solve, first you need to better decentralize network infrastructure.

@npub1235…0ht5 Is there a "discrepancy" between the latest google android 16 and the grapheneos one currently available for pixels? I was wondering mainly for two things:
- android desktop mode: is it currently available on your releases?
- new shapes and animation on top panel bubbles and items: am I wrong or does the latest android 16 grapheneos release still have the same "old" android 15 look?
I am asking as I don't know whether these things should already be present and I miss something or if the will be added on future grapheneos versions (because of all the shenanigangs of google lately).

It seems to me recently there is a huge lack of #robosats orders accepting Revolut and SEPA compared to a few months ago. While I see a lot more USDTs and USDCs.
This got me thinking: it could actually be a good idea to use a stablecoins wallet just as a cache to buy sats on robosats, I mean, it is still better than full FIAT platform right? Right?

Yeah it's all about how you configure the system (for example a lot of linux distros are insecure by default, how many of them have secure boot support, selinux/apparmor, ACLs out of the box?), but still the base was not designed with security in mind years ago, so the best would always be to design something new (just think about xorg vs wayland), but it's a huge task and really difficult to have something like that be developed in a complete foss manner (I mean in the linux spece there is red hat that is mainly pushing new security standards, selinux and the likes), I am not saying those are the best, but still they are something, but it all feels like a patch on top of something with a lot of holes 😅.
But yeah, android on top of linux could be better than native linux apps, bur at what cost? Batter, performance... It's a difficult world.

The problem is that linux on mobile has shitty security, while android (even better on grapheneos) and ios are really secure devices, which needs to be a priority on the mobile space.
It's just a downside of using a more native linux os, it's very difficult to have proper containerization, verified boot and all those neat features that we can have with grapheneos (which is why they only support pixel devices by the way)

That's just how our society is shaped, with smartphones as an example:
First they create a simple to use platform with all the useful tools (play store, notifications, safetynet, ...) just to create a network effect and bring lots of people onboard, then when there is no alternative and they control all the tools that people solely rely on they lock you in and shape the whole space so tight that even other more open alternatives doesn't really work well together (there are alternatives, but they always lack something as they are not "verified" by the monopoly). Then they enslave you.
It's the same thing in every field: money, food, cars, internet...
The future will be a divided one, let's all hope the other good part will be big enough to be a viable alternative to be used everyday for every little things (bitcoin used by a niche as is it right now serves nothing), but it's still early and people will wake up.

On cashu.me I see two npub cash references: the npub.cash for an ln address and an npubx.cash under experimental features.

Ehu @npub1w4u…0jr5 @npub1mhc…c226 I was trying to setup npub.cash with Amber, but the nostr connect option is not working (I think because Amber requires the secret field in the uri) 🥲.
Is there a workaround for that? Will npub.cash support that standard?

Yeah I can confirm something strange is happening with my haven relay (and also the wss://wot.utxo.one @npub1utx…50e8 one? Not sure though).
My haven inbox relay had only that single old event and even after trying with a new npub (which I followed to be sure for it to be in my web of trust), the new npub wasn't able to broadcast a test event (in which I tagged my main npub) on both my haven inbox and the utxo relays, I get the error of not being in the web of trust, which is strange since I follow the new test npub (?).
So for all these months/years I wasn't getting notifications and events from those two relay, but from other relays (probably through blastr and/or read only app relays not tied to by npub inbox/outbox).
For what concerns Jumble, as soon as I added the damus relay to my inbox ones I was able to see all the notification events I expected to be there (maybe not all, but you get the point).
Now why isn't my original two relay combo not working? I don't really know.

@npub1syj…f6wl I really like the simplicity of #jumble as it seems to have defaults that really suits me (the double column view and the ability to see posts based on your follows and not only single relays), but there is one thing that I don't understand: Notifications. I can only see a single notification from like a year ago and I don't even know why 😅. Does it follow the inbox/outbox model, does it defaults to some set of relays? How does that work?

Mmmh, the "Relay Sets" section got me thinking:
- Right now I feel like there are mostly two "kind" of relays: the ones you set which are used globally on the nostr ecosystem, like inbox, outbox, DMs etc.. (for which this relay management tool would be perfect) and then there are apps related relays, for example the ones you set on noStrudel or Amethyst just to download global stuff or find other nostr "data" and are not tied to the user per se.
- Is your idea of a relay managment tool only for the first "type" of relays (the user ones), or would you like to somehow manage all possible relays that an npub will ever come into contact with?
- So maybe we should ask: where is the line between these two types of relays? And should we expand on the gossip idea and have a set of relays for each "purpose" that could ever be possible in the nostr world (like inbox, outbox, DMs, blossom, search, index, video/stream, mls, etc...) that will be tied to the user and that each app must respect (so hypothetically no more app related relays, because every app would know which one is designed to be used for that user and scope)?
I don't know, maybe I am just over my head here, but I feel like we are going towards too much caos on the relay side, and I am ok with custom options, wierd clients and freedom of choice/implementation obviously, but maybe we also need stronger standards/defaults for this. Then this relay management tool can really be effective I think and make sense overall.

Is this actually interoperable with #whitenoise ? I tried to login with the same nsec and add at least one of the 3 relay whitenoise sets up as default as a circle relay, and I can see the same contact I have on whitenoise, but when I try to start a chat with it it does not work.
Isn't using nostr supposed to enable interoperability between clients by default, what's the point if the other npub needs to have the same client?
I hope I am just doing something wrong, or maybe juat too ealry given we are in alpha/beta.

Yeah it seems you can only set them as inbox, outbox and/or DMs, but not as only read/discovery/search as you can in nostrudel or gossip. The result for me is that the feed is really "unstable", if I reload the page it keeps giving me posts in different orders and most of the times some are missing, and even if I select replies for the feed, sometimes I dont see posts I should see and I need to disable and reenable the replies button (not 100% sure this solves the "problem"). I tried a lot of clients, but for me only nostrudel and gossip displays all the events, but I am not sure this is only related to relays management. Coracle UI is super cool though.

Maybe I am missing something, but with a tool like Amber on a device that only I control, I am sure only I can use those keys, accept requests and sign, but with this enclave thing, which is "online" and you "connect" to it using a frontend (I guess), how does this work? Is the frontend part of nsec.app running client/browser side? How can I be sure only "my device" (as long as I don't delete website data/cookies of nsec.app ?) can access those keys? How does this differ from Amber?

@npub180c…h6w6 Kind of a strange question as I don't really know how clients usually handle this kind of stuff, but let's say I want to build a relay that needs to process different Kinds requests in different manners, for example in the cashu world there are kinds that only the owner should retrieve and others that possibly anyone could ask for.
Now as I understand with #khatru based relays I don't see any problem when I need to check a new "write" event request, as it will only have one kind, but for "read" actions (I am referring to the `relay.RejectFilter` function) you have the input `filter` variable that contains the list of Kinds requested by the client, so it could be multiple kinds. In this last case, what is the best practice to handle this type of logic? Should I assume to expect only one kind from the client request and then process them "individually"? Should a relay process them in particular ways as I could get a filter with both a "private" (example: 17375) and a "public" (example: 10019) kind in the list?
Maybe the last two kinds are not a really good example as a wallet client will probably never ask them both on the same request, but you get the point. I hope I made my doubt clear.

My understanding is that a cashu wallet needs direct access to the seed (NUT-13) to be able to work, so there is no way to have a flow similar to NIP-46 of Nostr where the privkey/nsec is never accessed directly from the client, right? Is this something that would need to be added/implemented, or is it technically impossible for some reason?

Are there some docs and/or articles/videos to understand the flow of operations that a cashu wallet needs to do to send and receive cashu tokens? I wanted to try out the Rust cdk library, but it gets confusing quickly when I see terms like "quotes" and "proofs" and I don't really understand what should be done and in what order. So, is there a ELI5 like content somewhere?
