My website has been around for a quite a while now. I just ran a build to see how big it is:
- 3088 pages
- 1165 static assets (images mostly, some CSS/JS files, etc)
Hugo builds the whole thing in 4.4 seconds.
Also, SSGs FTW! Hosting all that on WP would crash my server.

He's of the opinion that "it's inevitable so we should talk about it to reduce harm," but I firmly believe that just gives it more credibility.

Like, I don't believe my "second brain" is a literal metaphor for how my brain works.
It's just a cute analogy for "a place to dump shit my silly meat brain will fuck up."

Work at a company? Any of these sounds familiar?
- There's no consistent design system, so every feature needs to be coded from scratch.
- Simple updates take 2-3x longer than they should.
- Documentation either doesn't exist, isn't clear, or is wildly out-of-date.
- The structure of the code base makes it hard to update and maintain.
- The code base is a mix-match of patterns. There's no consistency.

The other side of this, of course, is that I'd imagine a tool like Craft CMS has a *much* lower market share because of their license. But "growth at all costs" maybe isn't actually a good goal.
Big but struggling is worse than small and thriving.
(NOT implying that 11ty is struggling at all! Just talking in vague generalities.)

Been using both Mastodon and Bluesky for a little bit now.
BlueSky feels a lot more like home than Mastodon. They’ve smoothed over so many of the rough edges that exist here.
