GN Nostr, a moment to reflect on the beauty of things to come 💛
Also, tag a flat-earther: how do you explain this? 🌅😂 https://image.nostr.build/8608dbe0c93052ed5854172e09875783a4a80a03c0f4131105f3bfe9600899d9.jpg

Looks great. Actually what I didn't see in there (I may have missed it) are the in-feed games. Is there a NIP for live html interactive widgets or similar?

I've been thinking about decentralized/P2P social media for a while... and one of the coolest ideas that I wanted to see realized was the idea of "life", just like in video games. To live, you need more "life", whether you're a post, a person, a group or anything. To have life, you need sustainance, and in this case sustainance could be correlated to (perhaps as an effect of ) popularity. Everything is ephemeral, but the most important outlives the competition!
Obviously not a use case for everything, but if you add in the fact that certain people can curate on their own nodes for a lower cost, then things start to get interesting.

Edgar Mitchell, Apollo Astronaut and 6th person to walk on the moon, as well as founder of the Institute for Noetic Sciences, on 🛸 UFO cover-up/ET search 👽:
"In the background, barely discernable above the noise of daily events, there had been persistent and serious claims beginning in the 1940s, coupled with adamant government denials, that extraterrestrial craft had been visiting Earth. I was much too busy with preparations for Apollo to be distracted with this controversy. During my operational years as a naval officer and aviator, I was well aware of the rules and procedures for reporting unidentified aerial sightings. Although I never had the occasion to test the system by making a UFO report, I had heard stories circulating in the flying fraternity of the harassment, ridicule, and other difficulties suffered by those who did claim such sightings.
Claims and denials have continued unabated for decades. At the time of this book, however, there has yet been no hard, undeniable, physical evidence available in the public domain to substantiate such claims. But the *circumstantial* evidence has continued to mount as unusual sightings and bizarre events are reported and investigated by credentialled professionals. A significant number of persons, many quite elderly, formerly in military intelligence and government service, have privately dropped intriguing pieces of their stories on the ears of serious investigators, in hopes of getting the true story revealed, and in hopes of achieving amnesty from the tough, punitive secrecy oaths they were forced to sign. In addition, certain documents from the presidencies of Harry Truman and Dwight Eisenhower have surfaced to add controversy about ET visitation and government cover-up. In this intriguing envrionment of claims, counterclaims, and denial, one might conjecture that SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence), although it enjoys a certain scientific respectability today not in evidence when originally funded, was initially advanced as a smokescreen and diversion from the real activities taking place behind the scenes. Garnering funds and political support for an advanced science project is nearly impossible without strong concurrence in the scientific community, and there was no strong scientific support in the 1960s."
Taken from "The Way of The Explorer". Enjoying the book a lot.

Actual description: First test using Runstr. I would have appreciated editing the description 😅
Also, the GPS didn't update correctly (1.5km vs 12km). Running in background permissions were granted 😛
Now thinking about updating my favourite app, Organic Maps, to include #nostr, #lightning and #runstr features.

It makes me happy Tucker is out speaking this truth (I say that without having verified these facts independently) – the fact that he's big with a lot of respect from the American conservative people gives me hope in them not buying the military-industrial complex narrative.
Thank you for doing the work you're doing, flash. 💪 Merci à toi !

Practical advice from a self-hoster... Docker is not always the best and includes its own complexities, but it's by far a great and efficient tool to get many projects running. I know people who are against it for some reason but in my opinion there is no inherent flaw except the additional layer of abstraction, which can be useful in its own right.

Interesting idea:
1) Run an open-source, distributed compute for LLMs, allowing completely uncensored models to be run.
2) Adding a BTC, lightning or e-cash layer to allow monetization of your GPU/compute, and transparent fees for users of the platform. Also would allow more flexibility on model choice, size and speed.
This would allow us to keep the good side of powerful LLM technology while avoiding the inevitable crash coming for OpenAI and the industry's hype (which was largely built around more scaling = more intelligence, which has already proven not to be true).
1) At least 2 such projects already exist: https://github.com/bigscience-workshop/petals and https://aihorde.net/
2) Haven't seen this yet, perhaps only Internet Computer which I haven't looked deeply into. Would be curious at trying an implementation.

Dr. Steven Greer, behind the Disclosure Project (since 2001) and CE5 (Extraterrestrial contact protocol) is regularly posting podcasts to provide updates on his projects.
Personally I'm following and hoping to connect with fellow CE5 enthusiasts in Europe (France, Germany, Italy...). May the world move towards the light ☀️💛

When told: "aliens are a national security threat", this is a cover-up for the fact that there are illegal operations taking down actual UFOs and reverse-engineering them since before the 1950s, by major contractors but outside of any government control. These people are trying to influence government that aliens are somehow a threat, to justify their actions. The reality is that highly advanced civilizations that make it here would never be interested in violence – and that is our next step as a civilization as well. To raise our consciousness and become a non-violent species.
Check out Dr. Steven Greer's work on this. He has written great books and made great documentaries, alongside briefing every president on the subject since Clinton.

You hit the nail on the head. Tons of solutions – many of which are open-source – are accessible solving complex challenges. Vibe coding may be great at doing small things that fit your specific need, but as soon as you scale an app to more than one or a few specific use cases, it becomes difficult to scale. Many existing projects that are actively being worked on have solved exactly that challenge.
As an example: I was inspired by your social-media cross-posting tool, but didn't need the AI-management part of it. So I looked up an alternative, and found Postiz. A day's work and I've got it self-hosted on my own setup, able to post to 30+ social networking sites. Always worth having a look at existing solutions first!

First post on Nostr - Had a friend visit me in Paris. We had a great time. Paris is a really enjoyable city to walk, wander around and explore. Just got in 2 weeks ago with my first BTC. Got it off BISQ Easy, and the markup was less than 3% (if you discount the fact that the price went down over time). I wouldn't go near anything above 10% and already 5% seems like the limit. But if BTC goes up way more, those small percentage points won't seem like so much :)

Hey, just want to share that I appreciated one of your replies and chose to dive through your posts. I know digging into a lot of this stuff is rough, but everytime one of these stories makes headlines (about Epstein) tons more people wake up to this.
At the end of the rabbit hole, you find that humans are really capable of founding a civilization focused on peace, respect, and unconditional love. That's what I'm personally here for.
I hope that you'll get through the tough parts and reach the brighter side soon. My prayers go to you! All the best, a follower/nostr contact

My first reply on nostr since I dipped my toes in earlier this week. I can definitely see the issue in connecting with others, which in my opinion is also the biggest hurdle jumping into a random social media today, unlike when it first came out 10+ years ago.
I'm trying to spot interesting people, thoughts or activities. I think we're still in early stages but their may be better ways of connecting with real humans who express themselves properly as well.
Also was dissapointed to see a large majority of podcasts and music I can zap are just about bitcoin. Once people can share more of their genuine work unrelated to bitcoin is when things will get more interesting!
Maybe we just need patience, and trying to spot the sparks amid the noise. Next to that, user experience optimisations (as an application dev I might be contributing), and more selective groups and networks.
I would say, share the best content you can here and let the networks form that way! Thank you for sharing this though, it shows your humanity among the very surface-level posts.
