Confluence has been really a pain to work with lately. I miss markdown in a bit repo. At least I don't get ai popups every 2 minutes... Atlassian marketing needs to calk the fuck down.
Well, so I synced all the teams confluence docs to our self-hosted gitlab in markdown. Now we can read in peace and let our llms interact with it.
There's a cool python project called confluence-sync that enables this.

I've actually done that on accident before!! It works for listening, but not for transmitting unless you want to play mic key-up against speakers and hope there's no background sound.

I have one of those too, got it second-hand. I've had issues getting it to work with the digirig. However, it did great for SSB for winter field day for me.
I modified a digirig for C-IV, and I got close, but when I plug in the 19(I think)-din connector it goes into transmit and won't stop until I unplug it. Its supposed to be the audio cable.
Without the audio cable, I can at least use CAT control now, but can't do any digital modes yet.

I'm guessing that's part of how it works. Perhaps we can't consider DMs private? Perhaps the contents are though, did you try to read a DM?
The rest, yeah, those are public events, so yes, if they have your public npub, they can view all the events as if they were you, but they can't sign anything, and shouldn't be able to read anything that's encrypted.
Its perhaps not great... But what's public is public is public, including metadate. This is a good way to know exactly what that is so you can make informed choices.

Winter Field Day is this weekend. Ham radio operators around the United States and even internationally will be going out into winter conditions, many on alternative power and practice their capabilities in harsh environments. Myself and @nprofile…p73y will be out camping, the weather looks to be OK for this weekend for us, but it will be cold weather camping all the same. We are preparing for HF, UHF, and VHF voice contacts and digital modes, including js8call, sending(and receiving) a winlink email over RF, etc. We may even try a satellite contact this time.
We are bringing solar power and batteries, with a backup of a gasoline generator because it will be cloudy.

Maybe start with a small cheap one and see if you like it. Probably can find a used tina2 on eBay or something. Start with printing PLA perhaps, its easier to print with. Note your prints won't be good for the sun or in a hot car, but they are fine for most things around the house. Eventually you will find what you like and don't like and move up from there.
Graduate to a larger enclosed and/or heated bed printer when you find you want to start printing TPU, PETG, or ABS.

Its so completely fake. Studies have been done on so-called sonic weapons. They are generally imeffective and require massive amounts of energy, so much so that it makes them impractical.
What the US did was shock and awe. Took out all defenses, and then moved swiftly to capture the flag. That was it. Overwhelming force in a quick decisive move. Yes, the tech is impressive, all sorts of cool technology were doubtless in employ. None of them would do this. But If you need magic to explain it away, that's your problem.

Do you have bios access or a way to boot from USB? That's probably going to be required, and the system might be locked down to prevent that. Also SecureBoot might cause you problems. I am unsure if endeavorOS supports secureboot out of the box. (And whether it requires installing a key into UEFI).
Your speed limitation is probably going to be whatever bus its hooked to. USB? What version of USB? You can look up USB bus speeds online. Note that there are sometimes more than one USB bus on a system, you should use the highest version your devices will both support with the least amount of devices plugged into it.
At the end of a day, Linux will run off of some very very old and slow equipment, so its probably going to work even on USB-2. Performance may be subpar depending on whatever its hooked up to. Linux can work well, even in these scenarios, and depending on what you are doing, there are even ways to make it faster, but some of them also move you farther from maintainability, which for someone who is less experienced with Linux, could cause endless heartache. "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should". Try to keep it simple and just try and see. Worse come to worse, you learn some things and just remember that Linux is going to do whatever you ask it to, even if its the wrong thing. Its not going to protect you from yourself like windows or macos would, but its also going to run on a toaster oven if you utter the right incantation, unlike macos or windows.
The user learns and customizes linux themselves. MacOS is unknowable magic which forces you to do things a certain way, and Windows is like a fisher price toy with 3 buttons all of which make noise and make lights, but nothing really happens in the end, at least not unless you take the batteries out, put them back in 3 times, and flip it upside down and click through 17 pop up buttons that appear whenever you are busy trying to actually do something. (Sorry, I ranted again)

Digital radio is still radio. The best antenna to use is the one you have. If its through a phone WiFi antenna connected to a packet network with a long haul connect to an ISP, then its still radio somewhere in there, and there's still an antenna involved. Just get on the air and make it better when you can and its fun.
I often use echolink when traveling so I can check in to my local weekly NET. In the end, it should be fun, not a chore.

So... There is not enough clearance under the rear seat for the battery I got... There is if I take out the sound dampening batting, but then the seat sits on the battery (I suspect you would feel it when going over a bump). So I have changed tactics, and it actually saves me some storage space.
The battery will go behind the rear seat (there seams to be just enough clearance). I just have to remove the rear seat to access it. This also places it nearer to the dc-dc charger which is good.

Finally got the antenna installed today on the Tundra. I'm installing a radioditty DB-50b (I like it mostly for having such a small footprint).
I'm installing a secondary 100Ah lifepo4 battery under the rear seat (after removing foam and installing winco steam pans).
A renogy dc-dc charger will keep the battery topped off. The radio will run off the lifepo4 battery with plans for future expansion and running power into the truck bed for running the portable fridge and portable radios for HF

Picked up all the leaves in the front and back yard between yesterday and today. A windy storm is on the way, so getting them picked up is important before they cause more problems. 8 40gal trash bags of leaves.
My Toro leaf blower/vac has done an excellent job. It is over 15 years old, and just keeps going every year. The strap broke on the leaf bag this year, so I tied it in a knot, but I'll have to get a new one before next year.

Windows has a big job to do, and it takes a lot of compute.
First it has to keep itself updated in the background, which requires it to reach out to Microsoft activating the WiFi chip repeatedly.
Then it needs to pop up things on the users screen to take away focus from whatever you are actually trying to do.
Next it needs to scan every file as you open it to make sure its not virus (or hasn't been exempted from scan by a virus).
It also needs to dig through all your files to upload them to the cloud.
It needs to watch each keystroke to collect words for relevant advertising popups (everyone likes relevant advertising, right?)
It needs to take repeated screenshots in case someone at Microsoft needs to dig through your use history and figure out what's going on.
AI needs to see what's running so it can build a list of things to sell you next and also to know what to tell the NSA about you (its about keeping you safe, you know, and everyone wants to be safe).
Obviously, its very busy. Should give windows a break, it deserves all that compute so it can accomplish its job of selling you, as the product.

Personalized gifts are an option if you are less familiar with him or snagging him for a meal is tough:
Home made cookies are always good(just a few, not a ton). You can also decorate them with messages or with things you know he likes. Personalizing it let's him know you were thinking of him specifically when you made them.
A T-shirt with something he likes on it, or a mug. For most guys, utility is more important than how it looks, but if it matches him and does a job, its even more appreciated.
The reason guys generally don't appreciate flowers is because they don't do anything productive...
Keep it simple.
When I was in school, girls used to give mix tapes to boys they liked... I'm not sure any of the boys in my grade understood that was why... The girls were sending subtle messages in their song choices and it went way over the boy's heads.

Get the real stuff with pseudoephedrine. Its normally behind the counter in US pharmacies, but you can buy it OTC, just have to ask for it and provide ID so they can pretend its going to stop others from making meth with it.

Isn't that the point of the block reward? To incentivize the miners to secure the network until such a time that transaction fees will be enough?
A bitcoiner only needs the security provided by miners while a transaction is being added to a block. After that, its in the blockchain and secured by nodes... Not miners. So if anything, running validating nodes provides the security for hodlrs...
What's the incentive for running a node?
- Being able to privately inspect and verify the block chain
So when I drive my car down the toll road, I pay the toll. When I park my car in the parking lot, I can park it for free somewhere and hope their security and privacy is good, or I can park it in my own garage I maintain and keep it secure and private on my own.
I don't need to pay to maintain a road I'm not driving on directly. I do pay indirectly because of inflation, as block rewards are mined my share in the network shrinks relative to the whole. This is the price I pay until there's enough drivers to upkeep the road.

I have several old tube radios to repair. I have my work cut out for me. But safety first!
So I'm building a simple lightbulb current limiter, and buying a variac and a isolation transformer.
As well, I've got another #ham #radio project in planning at the moment:
I received a kio hex beam antenna and I'm planning to purchase a harbor freight trailer and tilt-up mast to mount it on. This way I can take the hex beam to field day, winter field day, POTA, and I can use it at home without mounting it on the house since I'm a renter.

I was asked to help a widow of a silent key empty her storage unit. It was hard work. They had accumulated #radio equipment over 70 years. A #ham since he was 10 years old.
There is so much, and she knew I couldn't just throw it away. Old tube receivers, transceivers, a linear amplifier.... Tubes and tubes and tubes. So many antennas. My dad had to haul out the big quad antennas. I was gifted a brand new hex beam as well, still in the box.
I got home today and I'm unloading. I filled the bed of my truck and a uhaul trailer.
70 years of this man's passion. I have to keep it alive.

Doubtful. National Guard might be providing security to border patrol agents... But there is constitutional clause against the federal government maintaining a standing army inside the united states. Only an armed insurrection or a direct attack from a foreign nation would allow the president to activate federal troops in that manner.
