I'm an oldish autistic, which blessed me with the ability to think clearly and write well. I'm also a secular humanist and I think God is too. Never doubt the power of irony.

I boost pictures of animals, plants, structures, landscapes, water (always water, and boats!) but right now it is mostly politics - the threats to everything good can not be underestimated. I would like to go back to writing about obscure kites as soon as the deeply stupid people are out of power. Please help.

the blacking out thing, I think mine was too much traumatic input from the noise, the crowding, the helplessness. My mind decided to forget it. It wasn't like just losing track of time.
I have some traumatic memories from my childhood. I remember the full lead up, what happened, what people in control said, the crying on my part. But I don't remember how they ended. Not remembering what happened at the principal's office, sent there to be beaten (for crying) that is blacking out.

a general strike is no better than any other protest, except that a lot of people who care deeply will lose the way they pay their bills. Can't call people collaborators for trying to save and survive, otherwise you alienate your movement instead of expand it. People wait and speak out where they can, instead of hurting themselves or their neighbors.
Anarchy seems cathartic, but it mostly hurts the innocent and is an excuse for the powerful to over react.

I wonder what the high officials in the Trump administration will do after he dies.
Anyone who is smart enough to write a book almost certainly has secrets to spill. And the people not smart enough to write will run for public office and hope to ride the Trump tails to victory. They won't see the backlash coming.
Even MAGA is tired of the chaos, although they will never speak ill of the man who validates them.
But all those toadies, with no original ideas, who will tell them what to do?

Getting the masses, mostly the below middle class, to invest in speculative stocks is only a way to inflate speculative bubbles, on an ongoing basis. Only the really rich are informed about underlying problems and advised when to get out and switch focus. The lower level investor is told to never check.
Poor people, even in their 30s, should invest like 60 year olds. Dividends only. Invest for income, and see the percent of investment income rise as more job income is put in investments.

Poor people, myself included, should not be encouraged to invest in speculative stock. The excuse is always, "but if you lose it you have plenty of time to make it back". Poor people do not traditionally have opportunities to continuously increase their income over the rate of inflation. Capitalists constantly try to pay them the least they can, do not value their experience over time, and count on an ever expanding population to keep labor desperate to accept below inflation raises.

Then take the battery out of the charging circuit. The battery is in standby mode.
Then run the rest of any phone activity off the cord. Until the cord is unplugged and the battery is needed. Whenever that is. Then, only when the phone is unplugged, use the battery.
It is that simple. The phone is like an emergency walkie talkie, that needs to be a base station when corded power is available, and portable..

Human beings have been functionally modern for a hundred thousand years or more. Every time I read, "must have been religion" as a cause, I know that this was closer to "I don't know".
My 3rd anthropological pet peeve is "the stone age" but there is no "age of wood" because broken wooden artifacts are still useful as fuel. The world wide distribution of humans (Hawaii, Fiji, Easter Island) was impossible without canoes, ships, and fishing. Going from stone to bronze is artifact survival bias.

From the "Stuff to Blow Your Mind" podcast, so 3rd hand, but well researched...
Egyptologists knew, from pictographs, of scenes showing water being poured out in front of pulled sledges carrying stone statues. Previous theory was it was ceremonial. The physics was recently worked out - easier to pull a heavy sled across condensed wet sand than dry sand.
Two of my favorite things to hate on in anthropology: not believing documentation that the people left, and blaming behavior on 'religion'.

true. But when the government helps poor people be more productive the money circulates before it get parked by the rich in offshore savings or processions (like 3rd homes or yachts).
A huge tax cut for the wealthy - that money didn't go anywhere new. It didn't make anyone healthier or increase productivity. A year from now they may opt for the gold plated version. The money will circulate, but slower.
The wealthy get it eventually, but who does it help along the way?
