Regarding killer apps not being social media clones. The book Zero to One is great.
Can't say I've applied It myself. However I am of the mind that besides maybe NOSTR itself I haven't seen anything new in terms of what has been built with it.
I also don't subscribe to the magical thinking of it's just going to get adopted because people will see the light or something.
Obviously I only have a small slice of what's going on. So it's a strong possibility I'm missing a lot.

Both. Every now and then I'll see a note about some improvement or cool implementation.
I'll try this, thanks for the reply.

I would think that all these cyber security things going on will be increased for a time, but eventually will reduce in frequency back to some baseline.

@nprofile…9kky thinking about out brief interaction from yesterday.
One thing that does make me optimistic is that I could probably design a car, I could even manufacturer a prototype. All due to A.I. and other technologies.
Used to be that would be out of reach unless you went to school and got a job at GM or something.
I'm sure it's still capital intensive and highly regulated. But the knowledge and tools are more within reach.

I quit my dev job back in early summer. For a few different reasons, some good, some bad. One big one was deep down inside I realized that programming was dead. Learn to code was a big lie. And I let myself get caught in the trap of tying my identity to being a programmer.
I think getting over that identity trap was one of the hardest things, and still is, to get over.
That's why I don't consider myself a bitcoiner anymore too: it's a trap too. What's going to happen to me if by some chance Bitcoin fails? Well in some way it would destroy me a little bit.
So the quest now is how do you have an identity that's actually useful, meaningful and resilient? Problem solver? None at all?

Good point. It just seems to me that everything is moving towards subscription / renting. Like I used to be able buy games, music, etc. and slowly that has gone away for the most part. Heck most people can't afford homes really only being able to rent also. I know it's not 100% related to computers and intelligence. Maybe this all resets in some sort of collapse.
Apologies for the scattered thoughts.
We'll see how it plays out in the long run, as you say.
Thank you.

I wish I had this same optimism. Mainly I don't see a path to everyday people having local frontier models. From what I understand there aren't any improvements to ai themselves to make the more accessible to retail hardware. Not to mention prices for memory, for example, are projected to continue to rise. Or simply is scarce. As at least one other person noted, it seems to me that A.I. models are centralizing.
In fairness my understanding of what is going on in AI is limited at best. Nor do I have a great finger on the pulse of computer hardware manufacturering.

Maybe this is just me but: the Internet sucks. I hate it now. It was fun at one point. But not anymore. These alt protocols, while technically cool and interesting, do not help.
Just curious if it's just me, I guess.

Maybe that just means I start with what you suggest then upgrading to something else later.

AI, at times, seems to paradoxically maximize inequality in the end. Sure anyone can build tools on the cheap, but few will have the ability to get the true 10x gains from it. Opportunity will centralize to a few.

2026-10-16 16:29:50 UTC

It's not enough to build tools for people. Then get butt hurt about them not using them.
Most people don't know about NOSTR or Bitcoin. They will never care about it. Not to mention they can't understand it which is pretty important to using them.
People aware of these things AND care about them are like .1% of the population.

2026-10-16 16:24:47 UTC

2026-10-16 16:21:48 UTC

When are Bitcoiners going to get it through their head that normies are never going to "wake up"? And even if they did, what would you do with them?
You have to take care of normies and make sure they thrive and are free to do what is good for them in mind body and spirit
