Though to be fair to Matt. Idk. I think he trusted too much, but I don't think he intentionally missed.
From what I saw in the clip, I don't think that's the mentality of a Bitcoiner, but it's also not the mentality of an intentional deceiver. You shouldn't just blindly recommend whatever the manufacturer tells you to say just to remain in his good graces.
I think it was stupid to take NVK's request at face value. He should've pushed back or asked more questions. And should've been transparent from the get go. That could've ensured the big was caught sooner.
But it's easy to fall in a kumbaya trap when number goes up and you think you're all in it together.

I switched recently.
Android feels more techy & nerdy. The ability to side load apps is awesome.
Apple is just convenient. Most of my friends are on iMessage and my group chats don't work anymore. Even with RCS, the support varies greatly.
Also, I've been pondering about a 2 device setup. An iPhone for the convenience shit with minimal pii on there and a pixel with more Bitcoin, nostr & other geeky apps.
I know many people here use grapheneOS but I still like the pixel experience. And the camera software is just too good.

If the protocol forks and we don't know which chain will be the most valuable, how can we ensure the sats we have in both can be recovered?
For example. If sparrow supports fork A but not fork B, how can I recover my sats in fork B. Will there be compatible wallets for both forks that would work with the same seed phrase?

I was scrolling this thread in the hopes of finding some insight into your position on the Knots vs Core debate.
This was because I saw one comment mention Knots on Start9.
I didn't find what I was looking for. However, I noticed something else and wanted to chime in.
Even in an environment like this, theres lots of name-calling, and they're used as arguments in Bitcoin debates. I thought it wouldnt be as toxic as Twitter here...and it isn't. But it's still sad to see.
I don't get the hate you've been getting under this post.
You and Marty were the ones that actually taught me what Bitcoin self custody looked like, and what the benefits of FOSS were. I deleted my X account thanks to you both and never looked back.
Aside from Saifedean's book that literally orange-pilled me, you are the only 2 bitcoiners that I found that weren't openly shilling some products because of a fat paycheck. You give credit where credit is due. You tell your listeners of your free podcast to stack sats, do their own research and you provide valuable information on all sides of every important Bitcoin debate.
So for all the negative comments you're getting on this note, I wanted to balance it out with a thank you for the work you're doing. You've inspired me to want to contribute to Bitcoin adoption and have changed my view on what integrity-driven business models look like. But that's just my opinion.

Idk if you tried loading some emulators. Lack of indie games / original clean games on Android is compensated with access to basically any other console title. I managed to load a PS2 emulator on my phone and play PS2 games.
Pokemon Gameboy games are also a classic. But that's available on iOS too
Pair that with a Bluetooth controller and it's goated.
Performance with emulators vary though.

When Lyn initially made that post I didn't know it was lex she was talking about. Can't say I'm surprised
I was reading Atlas Shrugged and was interested in learning more about Ayn Rand, so I searched on @nprofile…kae7 for some good podcasts that talked more about her.
The first one I found was the one where Lex hosted someone to talk about Milton Friedman and Ayn Rand. It was EP 457 with Jennifer Burns (idk who this lady is and never bothered to look into it more).
What drove me to this episode was that I remembered Lex's name because you shared some of his other episodes. But as soon as I clicked on any of the episodes you shared, I couldn't stand his podcasting approach, his manner of speaking or his voice. These are all subjective points though. But they were my thoughts. I powered through that one episode because of how enamored I was with Ayn Rand. Ironically, Ayn Rand would be rolling in her grave if she knew that, and more importantly, cared about who I was 🤣
I now saw the video you shared. The red flags that stood out to me was when he was talking about love. I swear what is it with narcissistic fakers and their constant need to preach love?
As soon as someone talks about love & loving someone else, my alarms get triggered.
Maybe it's because my experience with love is: it isn't spoken into existence. It's either there or it isn't. There's no need to preach its hymns, which is what seemingly disingenuous people always do in the hopes of finding it.
Anyway. Don't trust, verify. Not just his MIT credentials. But also: just because someone else likes him doesn't mean you should. I made that mistake, and am now getting proof from this thread that I am not missing out on any genius talks by not listening to this rando NPC.

I lived as a student a couple of years back.
European version of Singapore. You obey the rules. No exceptions. No grey area. Everything is very black and white, but the laws are reasonable.
However, I believe it's been slowly declining the further away we get from their gold standard era.
I didn't know it at the time but realized later as I discovered Bitcoin. The reason their society thrived and allowed itself to remain neutral all these years was because of the gold standard.
My hypothesis is that the gold standard period of Switzerland allowed for thriving of education, self development at a reasonable pace.
People may not see the link, but it's one of the only other countries I know of where guns are legal. The difference is this law comes with the flip sides of mandatory military service and excellent education that empower people to be civilized and avoid mutual destruction.
Discipline was everywhere. From the punctuality of trains to the cleanliness of streets. I think this was enabled by their gold standard. And as I mentioned earlier, I think we're now beginning to see the cracks of Switzerland moving away from that model in 1973, when they moved away from gold backed currency exchange rates to floating exchange rates.

I switched back to Android when I saw the UK thing and got a pixel on discount.
Used the Fiat I saved to stack.
However, the toughest part is my notes app. I use obsidian which synced easily with iCloud. Im looking for an android alternative. Does know of a good way to sync obsidian notes with PC?

But my point is people calling Bitcoin a ponzi aren't wrong. It's just their opinion. And who gives a fuck about their opinion. They'll smell the roses later on their own time.
Value is subjective. Therefore, a store of value can only be a store of value if someone perceives value in it. And to realize / get value from that thing, one must either use/consume the store of value at one point in time, or exchange it against something perceived to be of equal value by another party.
Satoshi created Bitcoin to be perfect money. If money is to act as a medium of exchange, value must be perceived by both parties. If value isn't perceived for both parties, then it's a ponzi in their eyes. It has no value. Someone cashing out on their Bitcoin will be seen as someone profiting off a ponzi scheme because they just traded something that has no value (in the eyes of the beholder) for something that has immense value: USD to a seemingly uninformed participant, and they got away with it
Ponzi schemes are centered around an opinion. A fake store of value is a Ponzi scheme. But if my perception of value is skewed, then so will my definition of a Ponzi scheme be flawed.
And if I'm inclined to believe Bitcoin is a ponzi scheme, seeing someone sell theirs for "tangible" dollars won't change my opinion. It will enforce it.
I think the only solution to win the minds of the uninformed idiots is to use Bitcoin over dollars for actual goods. If Bitcoiners trade their Bitcoin for Fiat, they'll be perceived by the uninformed to be hypocrites, looking for an exit.
Tldr:
- MoE + store of value = money
- MoE alone = ponzi
- store of value is subjective.
If value = 0, then MoE = Ponzi

I think the implication is clear but it depends by what is meant by courageous.
If courageous = defiance, this thread will be a good place for authorities to start looking for people that are defiant. Especially since Nostr posts can’t be deleted, and since Primal’s enhanced search has been released. It just becomes easier to monitor for potentially “courageous” people.
So I personally wouldn’t tag any npub here even if I considered them to be courageous.
