Might be that induction devices are crappy and clunky because of the manufacturers standard fiat mindset of cost reduction.
Regardin clunky, to bring it back to ecash, with all its drawbacks, it could be a very smooth payment method. Where lots of internet payment methods bring a lot of clunkiness, like the elaborate but unsafe credit card authorisation or all the blockchain or node-related mess of other cryptopayments.

Chaums ecash did not fly at least in part because nobody had solved the unconfiscatable, scarce digital commodity problem, there were no reliable sources of value on computers.
That Bitcoin and Lightning were invented makes dipping in and out of ecash possible, and makes Chaumian ecash suddenly a useful tool and solution for different problems than BTC and LN.
Its IMO (maybe even in its current highly beta state) at the very least useful for local meatspace or trusted networks where you have small transactions, interactions and need to keep score. Caution obviously should be taken with it, balances kept low and temporary and trust (between mint&user) is necessary and not minimized in chaumian ecash. Even with its drawbacks I think it could power the thriving of circular economies, it's quite a good replacement for normal cash or (trad)Bank-transactions.
Maybe a bad analogy could help illustrate: if you have an induction furnace and an oven for cooking your meals inside in a safe, reliable and comfortable way where only major fuckups get you burned, you might still want to add a barbecue. Although its harder to get the meal right, you then have to be outside and are more likely to get burned or get wet a BBQ is still not a useless tool. I think its clear whats what in the analogy? For the right job, circumstances, and with proper handling, something which is otherwise not very good can be a delightful tool.

Ecash is the purest/leanest form of money as data. It can probably not get any leaner than just a text string.
Trust without guards or third parties is central to many relations (also over the internet) where value is exchanged, for example any provider-user relation is inherently (partly) trustbased. Blinded Ecash can be an improvement of the risk you face in these relations, also compared to solutions using traditional banking payments.
Because of the points above, and for many other reasons, the payment solutions possible through ecash can be swifter, more private, less burdensome in resources, bigger in transaction throughput than a.o. things like Lightning network, ApplePay, Visa/mastercard
Ecash isn't so much a store of value, but it is up there with the best medium of exchange.

No, I don't think it automatically creates an ecash token. However as an introduction to a new app like cashu.me takes some getting used to, and will probably involve some messing around, you can create an ecash token without being conscious about it, and as soon as a token is created its value will be deducted from your balance, which can be quite confusing. I think something like that happened

What if you click the "pending X sats" ( with refresh symbol)? It will show if this ecash value is still pending (not spent or at least not received)
Most likely possibility: did you (by accident) create an ecash-token of 15000 (e)sats? If thats the case you can click the outgoing '15000 Ecash' under 'History', it will open a popup with QR, (the ecash-token) click 'copy' to copy a cashu textstring, and 'close' to close the popup.
Then click 'receive' in mainscreen and paste the cashu textstring into the textbox and click 'receive' to redeem the token in your own wallet

Ecash is not only cool, but improves privacy, transaction success and reduces entrance costs of Lightning. Like being able to run a LN Node on a RPi was, this is another paradigm shift in improving decentralisation and lowering friction for money transaction.

I was thinking the same, great video, would like to send this to close relations. However if i send this to my parents who are not fluent in English, they would get stranded on language like 'broker' or 'ledger'. So I second you in asking for various language versions!
Maybe Lyn can make a zap poll with a couple of translation languages? That way you can figure out interest for a specific language, and she immediately gets funding to make it happen or put out some translation bounties?

I thought it was very sensitive, not sure if still the case. You could get full access to someones wallet and funds when you had his wallet ID. Since then some login, superuser and password functionality has been added, but I m not sure this locks wallets/funds.

I can login with nsec.app and get this list. After selecting "mute all" it seems to process correctly and ends with "done, try again". When opening Amethyst first time it did show the bots still, nothing added in blocklist.
This can be because me with nsec.app and Amethyst didn't do everything right

Maybe Nostr most needs a 1000 new/more ways to monetize:
-zapwalling notes, subscription to get access to influencers notes,
-pay-per-note, pay-per-pic, pay-for-characters-extension or other pay-per-use-subscriptions for relays,
-auto-zap for replies, boosts/renotes, edits, follows, likes/zaps, paid curation of feed from spam for more/better engagement
-zapfundraising for features or subjects for devs or influencers (apart from zappolls in notes)
-automated splits built into clients to relays, list-creators of used lists, signer/bunker-services, client devs, even to VPN or tor-providers,
A lot of these things we have already in some form, but could use wider or better implementations (or its here and good and I just need to be better informed, if so let me know) an I'm likely too impatient.
For instance, I would have liked to autozap the first 3 boosts/renotes of this post, but I'm not aware how to. Instead I will manually zap 1000sats to the first 3 renotes I see. As a small npub this is also essential to do to have some reach, otherwise this note will be like screaming into the void.
(Side nut: chaumian ecash like cashu I think could make these solutions a lot easier and possibly better implementable than doing it directly on Lightning)

Closed, local relays with local vendors who sell their ware to users who are also locals for chaumian ecash (stablecoins if one party desires).
Some hurdles like Web of trustscore, deposit or some proof of locality need to be laid down and overcome to join the relay.
Trust, based on web of trustscores or personal relations, can make you pay in advance and/or make the butcher prepare your order in advance for you or another npub designated by you, to pick it up without waiting.
If the butcher makes it work, the baker will be eager to join, as will every waiting customer who sees someone getting served without waiting.
It's not here yet, and it can take some time to develop and catch on but I think something like this could be the killer feature. Amethyst almost supports this (marketplace, cashu) already

Getting way ahead of the current state and narrative:
Could it be beneficial to have a soft fork where all the ETF's, Saylor, the 'shiny digital property' crowd and super conservative, the store of value guys remain on one side of the fork?
The 'move ahead with caution' types, an assortment of devs, the 'also medium of exchange' guys can take the other side of the fork, and could with moderation try to get lightning, other L2s, cold storage, bitcoin scripting to a next level.
The idea being: let a second tree grow and quickly develop in the firsts shadow to hopefully grow strong enough to withstand the heat on his own.
If one doesn't make it you have the other to fall back on
(Speaking as one who hasn't experienced the block size wars, so I probably underestimate the pain and dilutiveness of such a happening)

Very good story, nicely represented, from the little I know about Jesus and what I think is established historical context it fits. Gives extra interesting background by what may be the most important story of western civilisation.
The source I know that most corrobates your version is a little book "Jezus van Nazareth" (in Dutch) by Paul Verhoeven, Hollywood director of (a.o.) RoboCop and Basic Instinct. Verhoeven was fascinated by Jesus story, studied it almost scientifically (or should i say religiously) for years and tried (and failed) to turn the story into a movie, so he settled for a book. Verhoeven paints Jesus as a (part of a) revolutionary rebel(ry) and also points to his temple rebellion as the most likely cause of Jesus becoming an outlaw and of his arrest.
I was wondering: do you know if the temple incident leading to the arrest is still a very likely theory according to most historians or where you got that theory from if you remember?
I'm guessing its not Verhoevens book,as I'm not even sure it has been published in English. Verhoeven claims to have used some of the best and verified scientific sources available, but I trusted him and did not verify that.

Let's say that someone hypothetically has 2 computers to be turned into dedicated Bitcoin-nodes.
A workstation and a RaspPi4, both with 1TB SSD.
One node is to be a secure, noobfriendly node to be used for storage, used in combination with hardwarewallets, and possibly as Lighting node

I'm reading something about exchanges needing stockbrokerlicense to continue to offer ETH. I'm guessing soms fines will be dealt out to those involved, but after paying off the fines, can ETH continue as before? Will there be a (lengthy) courtcase like XRP?

Spot on, anything you trust to provide a service to you like StackerNews or relays might as well be an ecash provider to you at the same time (or technically the moments before).
It could even be better, less trusting with ecash: If I need to pay 1000 sat upfront to be able to use relayprovider A for 100 messages, I'd rather store 1000sat as ecash with relay provider B, and slowly drain it for 10 esat per message.
Should / could then even be possible to withdraw 100 SATs after 90 messages if the service gets worse

That's just like your opinion man.
I think its unconventionally managed, not badly. if it was really horribly done, then at least he managed 50% well by outsourcing it. The fund has some opinionated grants, and you name examples where you disagree with the amount, so seemingly you're hassling over details. Feels like cheap shots where all the funds calls are expensive.
IMO most funding is like throwing shit to a wall and seeing what sticks, if anything. At least the fund is theorised about and aiming for things, that's almost the most you can hope for. What was wise or unwise will be clearer in hindsight then now or within a year.

Chaumian ecash te funden via lightning, maar t.o.v Lightning meer privaat en een bearer asset, dus vereist niet altijd online zijn om te betalen of ontvangen, alleen een veilige verbinding naar de ontvanger. Zie Cashu.space voor betere info, ik doe het ongetwijfeld ergens onrecht aan. Zou dit een missing link of extra link voor V4V en streaming sats kunnen worden?
Ik had je zo ecash moeten kunnen sturen vanaf Nostr naar Mastodon, maar daar is het nog iets teveel beta voor. Er is al via HAM radio cashu gestuurd dus podcasts kunnen niet achterblijven. (Dat doet podcasting ook niet, weet ik, bedankt voor je werk hieraan en doorontwikkelen daaraan!)

Can't say from the photo, and I'm guessing you disconnected it completely, but it often is to do with a diminished / too small throughput area for the current.
Lots of possible causes, Can be caused by a loose connection, which only barely connects and causes temperatures to rise, can be caused by earlier blackening which raises resistance for the black part and worsens this way. Could also be some loose soldering in the print.
