I think it's just that there isn't a noticeable quality gap for the extra money. L'OCA and Freson Brothers are comparably expensive, opened around the same time about 10 blocks apart, in an area with lots of people who aren't terribly price-sensitive. One of them is always busy.

Just a note to clarify, as I think "vote in the NDP leadership race at its convention in March" might discourage some.
Members do not have to attend the convention to vote.

Your selected quotes do have a survivorship bias. You can find these same kind of predictions for technologies that did fail. NFTs being a recent example of much hype, no follow-through.
The current raft of machine learning applications is broad enough that some things under the AI umbrella will definitely persist (my bets are on image and video generation, and translation being much more useful than chatbots), but time will tell if it really is the next big thing that people like me just don't understand, or 90% hype.

Small victory, or a meaningless concession? My guess is that it was removed because indigenous consultation is protected by treaty and the constitution.
Which could have held the whole law up in court, where conceding this one item gets them almost everything else they wanted.

Yeah, I say AC, but ours is also a heat pump. I'd put it off because I'd heard heat pumps were really expensive, but it ended up not being too bad.

Having only recently acquired AC, I'd say 27 is fine if it cools off overnight. What forced us into AC was having heat waves where overnight temperatures stayed in the mid-20s, so each day just built up more and more heat in the house.

Would have a lot more sympathy if he didn't hold significant responsibility for folding the mainstream conservative party into the nutcase/separatist party.
Because the NDP winning just one election was so bad, empowering separatists was a priority.

Conservatives everywhere use the concept of "fiscal responsibility" as a cudgel whenever there's a centrist or (good forbid) leftist government. Governments that are usually more responsible than Conservatives, if only because they're willing to exercise the revenue side of the equation.
It's not a real belief in balanced budgets. Just a political tool that plays well with the fools who vote conservative.

Pay facilities are uncommon outside of Paris. We certainly found adequate free facilities on our bike tour.
My suspicion, without having done a study, is that free facilities are about as common in France as they are here, but the existence of pay facilities makes it much easier to find a washroom at all.

I would consider a trip to Ottawa for this. And I'm not generally a poutine fan.
